I went through an art block/depressed-spell, after the 8th, and haven't finished an Inktober since (started a few, but finished none)... Dunno what the deal is, but it's a real drag & I'm disappointed that I let this happen. :'(
On top of it, I ended up getting sick with an infection, which just made it even harder to get work done!
Gonna try to get back into it here soon, though, and resume posting!!
(AND MAYBE ONCE INKTOBER IS DONE.... I'LL START POSTING NORMAL FURRY GARBAGE AGAIN instead of generic derpy animal doodles, ahahaha. 8'D)

MIDWEST FUR FEST!!
I'm hoping to attend MFF, this year, but really need some roomies!!
My only prior experience with MFF was in 2013 and, honestly, I had a pretty horrible time 8'D
That means I need to make this one better. As in, like.... if I DON'T think it'll be better, then I'm just not gonna go, haha.
SO! If you're gonna be going, then PLEASE TELL ME!!
Right now, half the people I wanted to see have since decided hey won't be going, so I wanna know who IS still gonna go!!
Without my pals around, and people to chill with, I'm worried it'll end up like last time with me sitting/wandering aimlessly without any idea of where to go or what to do.

Midwest-area Furry Conventions & Drunken Lemur Project!

Guess I have a few conventions to pimp & projects in the works, so I thought I oughta post more details about them!!
FIRST UP:
Anyone in the midwest area should totally check out Central Plains Fur Con and Fur Feast 2015!!
Centralplainsfurcon is coming up on November 5th-8th!
While the con has had a bit of a rocky past, we are trying to revitalize the event and breathe a bit of new life into it, so we'd really like to encourage attendees to come check it out!
With a much larger new staff base, there should be a lot more events and a better overall sense of stability, so hopefully it'll be a pretty fun time!!
The hotel is super swank, with FREE buffet-style hot meals for hotel guests, 3 FREE alcoholic drinks per day (per guest), a pool, etc.! It's also in a gorgeous location with lots of great walking paths around the city & the riverside, and Wichita itself has all kinds of cool stuff to do! There's also some great free parking around the hotel, which is always a plus!
Bonus perks at the convention include:
- FREE Artist Alley & Dealer's Den (YOU HEARD ME, DEALERS -- FREE TABLES!!)
- Con charity brings amazing & unique animals to the hotel, for congoers to pet & interact with (past animals have included binturongs, honey badgers, penguins, baby snow leopards, etc.!)
- FREE soda & popcorn for pretty much everyone!
- AND DID I MENTION I WILL BE THERE??
BECAUSE, OH YEAH -- this year I will be serving as CPFC's Volunteer Coordinator, so anyone who's interested in helping out should definitely get ahold of me!!
Our unique points-based volunteer system comes with all kinds of perks, ranging from vinyl decals to t-shirts to discounted-- even FREE-- admission!! This can be a great option for anyone who'd like to attend the convention, but perhaps can't afford a full weekend pass, etc.
If you're interested in helping out, have any questions, etc., go ahead and SEND ME A NOTE!
FurFeast is later in the year, during the weekend of December 12th-13th!
It is a smaller, two-day event, but is still a lot of fun, and has a really warm & family-like atmosphere!! FurFeast has been going on for a number of years, and has always been a really sweet, loving little mini-con that's an absolute joy to attend.
We all chill (no pun intended) together at a little campsite for a big potluck dinner, with lots of delicious, warm foods~
There are events and activities throughout the weekend, including games (video/board/etc.) and art jams, and you're free to host mini-panels with the group as you see fit!
At the end of the first day, we get the camp building's fireplace a'goin', pile up massive amounts of blankets + pillows + air mattresses, snuggle up with some warm tea/cider/cocoa/WHATEVS, and watch a movie oldschool-style on the projector screen!
It's just a really adorable weekend, haha, and I'm super excited & thankful to be the Guest of Honor for this year's meet!! :)

SECOND ORDER OF BUSINESS!
With the World Lemur Festival approaching on October 29th-31st, I'm hoping to join into the fundraising efforts again in a number of ways!
My primary endeavor this year is to host Drunken Lemur Parties (or DLPs) in an effort to spread the message of Madagascar conservation!
The idea here is to host events around local cafes, bars, etc. with the DLP/WLF theme! A donation box should be present at each event, decorated by a poster of one of the DLD-collaborator's drunken lemur designs. At these events, we can provide the establishment with a list of lemur-themed drinks/cocktails, which said establishment can make/sell and give a portion of the proceeds (however much they're willing to give) to our conservation fund!
In addition (if all goes well), I'd like to sell prints and/or t-shirts with some of the designs (as many as possible), which can also be sold as part of the fundraiser!
Outside of the Drunken Lemur Parties, I would like to continue selling prints/posters/shirts both before & during the WLF, and keep doing things to promote the message!
AND, if I can get the stars to align just right, I'd ultimately like to gather ALL the artists' submissions together and create a gallery show, to be displayed at professional art galleries around local areas, as well!
PERHAPS IT'S A BIG DREAM BUT, DARN IT, I AT LEAST WANNA TRY!!!
SO! Here's what anyone interested can do to help out!!
ARTISTS CAN:
- Draw a BUST (waist-up) of a feral (non-humanoid) lemur; species of your choice!
+ The lemur should be holding some sort of drink -- beer, wine, liquor, cocktail, or whatever!
- Can be a sketch, colored, or whatever!
+ Colored designs may be asked for permission to sell as prints / t-shirts
+ Non-colored designs can be colored for use, per the request of the original artist
ACTIVISTS CAN:
- Contact cafes/bars/etc. in your area and host your own Drunken Lemur Party!
+ DLP materials can be provided, for your use
- Contact art galleries in your area and ask if they would be interested in facilitating the art show!
+ Shows will NOT include originals of work (unless you choose to include any original(s) you create)
+ We recommend only showing at galleries that do NOT charge rent!
ALCOHOLICS (or beverage-connoisseurs) CAN:
- Create & suggest cool lemur-themed mixed drinks!
- Suggest really any kind of drink (alcoholic or otherwise) that you think "matches" a certain lemur species!

- I'm not really sure what else to suggest, but if you have any other ideas, questions, concerns, etc., then feel free to CONTACT ME!

Pardon the absence, but the year has been rough. Car troubles, injuries, and subsequent poverty abound!
BUT!
Summer is finally here and, although my schedule is hella packed, I'm planning to go through with my previous efforts to start uploading sketches!!
Considering I'm well over 3 years behind on sketches, I'll pretty much be limiting it to the art I've done since this time last year; sorry if that bums anyone out (UNLIKELY, since it'll still be a flood!), but there's just too much!!
That being said, I hope to get at least a few sketches posted before I leave for a trip, this weekend!

Pardon the absence, but the year has been rough. Car troubles, injuries, and subsequent poverty abound!
BUT!
Summer is finally here and, although my schedule is hella packed, I'm planning to go through with my previous efforts to start uploading sketches!!
Considering I'm well over 3 years behind on sketches, I'll pretty much be limiting it to the art I've done since this time last year; sorry if that bums anyone out (UNLIKELY, since it'll still be a flood!), but there's just too much!!
That being said, I hope to get at least a few sketches posted before I leave for a trip, this weekend!

Car wreck; more delays
Posted 11 years agoGot in a car accident on Thanksgiving, so my finances are even more fucked, and things are likely to be delayed as I have to spend the majority of my "free time" dealing with insurance, car shop/dealership, etcetcetc.
Nobody was hurt, thankfully, but my car is sans the entire front bumper-- after ALL THE WORK I JUST GOT DONE ON IT.
IT WAS LITERALLY "FIXED" FOR LESS THAN A WEEK, SO LMAO.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON NOW, TOO, WHICH IS RADICAL!
Just gives even more validity to the age-old phrase: "FUCK THANKSGIVING"
Here's hoping everyone else's holiday was much better than mine!!

STATUS UPDATE!

Apologies for no new updates, but I have a bad habit of frequenting Twitter more than FA, so lol WHOOPS~!
With the World Lemur Festival long since passed, I finished tons of sketchpages & had a blast drawing all them wacky lemur characters!! Most of these have already been received via Twitter/notes/other notifications, but you'll notice that none have been uploaded to FA.
.... Ya see, after completing all these pages, I realized that I don't have access to a scanner that's big enough to scan these pages
so LMAO
SUCH POOPOOOOOO
I'm on the hunt to find one I can use-- but, in the meantime, I've just been sending folks terrible phone-pics of their doodle-pages! Dunno if that's quite worthy of being FA-uploaded, though, so I'm not sure if peeps would rather I wait until I've got quality scanned pics or not?? IDK!
ANOTHER LOVELY TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY I ENCOUNTERED WAS MY TABLET BREAKING IN THE MIDDLE OF LEMUR WEEEEEEK!!
Fortunately, I only received one digi commission, so that hasn't caused a huge extra backup or anything, but it HAS been an unfortunate delay!
Going to fish out my old tablet and hope I can get it to cooperate, so fingers crossed on getting that digi-lemur done ASAP!!
SO, WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN GOING ON IN LIFE?
+ CAR BREAKING DOWN ALL THE TIME! -- 6 trips to the shop so far and over $1k in bills has me in mega debt, so that's pretty shitty!!
+ FAMILY WORRIES!! -- Parents moved away, dad has almost died twice, and it's all just kinda bumming me out!!
+ HEALTH PROBLEMS!! -- Carpal tunnel is debilitating, random bouts of intense week-long abdominal distress, and all sorts of other rad stuff to ensure I can't function as a human being!
+LIFE!! -- School is crazy & I have millions of art projects to do; working 2 jobs and still can't afford to eat half the time; working an extra volunteer job = more stress & yet no pay; etc.! Life is just tiring for everyone!!
Finding the time to get on the computer for fun is often difficult to do, but I'm trying to get better about maintaining my online presences (even if "getting better" still only = 1 update a month, haha!)
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I don't expect to be attending many conventions for quite some time, so my apologies to all the pals out there who actually miss me at those shindigs!!

WORLD LEMUR FESTIVAL + $20 SKETCHPAGE COMMS!!

This Saturday marked the beginning of the week-long World Lemur Festival, so THIS WEEK ONLY I will be having some radical art specials!!
$15 LEMURIFY DOODLES!
- COLORED pictures (digital or traditional) of your/any character as a type of lemur!!
- You can specify the species, if you'd like; otherwise, I will select one that I think fits the character best!

... Idk. I thought it was fun as a joke, but then I saw other people with similar journals and I was like "oh"
BUT UHH
WHATEVER
I AM, however, in the process of establishing a new "fursona"!
Over the years, I've had 2 characters that could be considered my "fursona"...
- The most obvious being ZAHZU, of course! She's gone through several different species changes and name changes but, overall, has remained more or less the same: a hyper, happy, bubbly, loud, excitable, optimistic sort of character.
- Next was Lemur!Eden, a character loosely based off of me that was originally designed by my fabulous friend Lemur2003. Eden, once I started drawing her, was supposed to represent my more quiet, thoughtful, kind, intellectual side. She is more calm, collected, and sweet, whereas Zah is a bit more spastic and carefree.
BOTH OF THESE CHARACTERS represent very clear parts of my personality!
However, I've recently developed a more snarky, grungy, assholeish side, which doesn't really work for either of these two. |D
Since I don't really relate to animal characters enough to make a single "fursona" that is "ME", I figured...
THE ONLY LOGICAL STEP WOULD JUST BE TO MAKE ANOTHER CHARACTER TO COMPLETE THE TRIFECTA THAT IS MY PERSONALITY.
So, that's where we are now!!
I've been messing with designs for half a year but, so far, to no avail.
Since none of them are turning out quite how I want, I'm thinking about just tossing the various concepts on FA and getting some feedback!
BUT, all the same!
Zahzu won't be going anywhere, nor will Eden!

Posted 11 years agoRemember all my journals about room failures, money failures, anxiety and worry about FWA?
Forget all of it.
FWA was one of the most incredible times of my life, hands down. I haven't felt so loved/appreciated/remembered/acknowledged in longer than I can remember-- as a person, an artist, a community member, etc.
I met so many of my old friends, my heroes, my idols, and more, as well as lots of awesome new people, as well!
Didn't drink (aside from samples at restaurants, and a few sips of a POWERFUL white russian!) or even go to the dances-- just spent it all with wonderful people, and I couldn't be happier about that fact!
With the trip starting off so horribly, I cannot believe what a fantastic thing it became.
I've been to at least 11 conventions, this past year-- 7 of which were furry cons, including 1 where I was a GoH-- and I have NEVER felt more involved than this.
I am absolutely moved to my core.
Every time I think about the experiences I had and the time I spent with people, I am brought to tears.
LIKE. NOT EVEN GOING TO LIE:
I had to go to the airport bathroom and just cry my eyes out simply because I KEPT THINKING ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVED YOU ALL AND HOW OVERWHELMINGLY HAPPY I WAS (PLUS some sadness from already missing people a ton-- BUT MOSTLY IT WAS LOVE+HAPPINESS!)

YEAH~
It's so hard to explain. There are always people in life that love you-- I know that and appreciate it every day! But to have people recognize you, wave to you, and even call you out by name-- when it's on such a large scale, and from people that YOU KINDA FIGURED WOULD NEVER REMEMBER YOU/CARE ABOUT YOU? You realize that HEY-- all those times you called to THEM, to show THEM how much you appreciate/enjoy/admire THEM.... YEAH, WELL IT'S MUTUAL!
And the feeling that creates is absolutely indescribable. ;<;
Of course, a lot of folks probs don't read that much into it like I do. 8D;
But, whatevs. That's how I see it!
Knowing that someone cares enough about your existence to give you a few moments of time is just A LOT MORE POWERFUL TO ME THAN IT PROBABLY IS TO MOST PEOPLE. LOL.
Anyway. TL;DR. I am a big stupid sap who cries all day about how much I love dumb fuzzies.

CRAZY EXPRESSION REQUESTS!!
At some point, I'd like to start doing crazy-face badges, so these'll be a fun way to get into the groove before I open 'em up!
HERE'S HOW IT'S GONNA GO DOWN:
- I will be taking FIVE requests!
- These will NOT be first-come, first-serve!! I'll accept them based on my interest in drawing that particular expression!!
- Odds are, they will just be traditional sketches!
