Hey all,

I've finally quit my 9-5, so I'll be moving back over to doing artwork pretty much full time again. It's a huge relief to me to be in a place where I can do art and not have to worry about burning out again.

I've had a death in the family this last week (my Gran died) so we've finalized the funeral arrangements and the like. She was in her 90's and had a damn good run of it, she was pretty damn healthy and didn't suffer even right at the end.

I also have a holiday planned from the 6th Feb to the 5th March, so I'll be slow to respond to emails/notes/comments/carrier pigeon during that time. I'll also be doing little if any commission work. My boyfriend is coming over from the states so we'll be doing some road tripping while he's here!

So yes! I'll be absent briefly, but then I should be kicking into high gear on the art, so keep an eye out, I'll likely be uploading a lot more starting March.

Since I'm kinda curious about this.

Which do you prefer in art, and if you have a male personas/characters, which do you prefer on your characters and why?

I use human uncut now mostly in personal art, with some fantasy elements, but I don't go full on very much anymore (unless it's a werewolf or something).
In other people's art, I think I just like seeing what they like drawing.

It's mostly for exploring some emotional stuff, and stuff relating to sex and the fem/masculine dynamic at the moment. Hey All!

You may have noticed I've started selling off some miscellaneous character designs. I'm going to be clearing out a fair number of designs, I have 21 characters that are undeveloped, 8 designs that are reasonably developed (these include characters like JD, Bronx, Ceasar and Lady Monarch), and 11 designs of highly developed characters (These include Bailey, F.E.L.I.X, Ricky, Shouki and co). I'm going to be re-homing most, if not all of them.

Why?

You guys might have noticed, my activity has dropped a lot. I'm not putting the time I used to into art, period, and I'm much less interested in character based art right now. I'm never going to be finishing the stories and comics and what not I designed these characters for, and rather than have them waste away with my being close to inactive, I'd much rather see them re-homed, and put the money towards paying off some debt* I've got. You guys get the chance to get some neat character designs, and I get a little boost reaching my goal of being debt free. I'll also be selling off my two fursuits to this end (the gryphon partial and a revamped g-shep suit).

I also have some originals that I need to sell off, but I want to go through and see if I can re-home the commission pieces to their respective people first if I can. This is going to be a massive logistical task, and I'll likely be asking for public help to track down people that are not active on here anymore.

IF you think you have an original sitting from the early days when I was doing delux sketches and the like MESSAGE ME. I'm going to ask $5 (international) to cover shipping for commissions.

Everything else will get sold off as mixed "booster" packs, or as part of character auctions.

So what is this Steel Artist thing?
The steel artist challenge (by my reckoning) is the next stage up of the iron artist challenge, at 200 images. The iron artist challenge is where you draw 100 images to a specific set of criteria. This could be completing everything in a specific amount of time, working on your anatomy, etc. For me the iron artist were full cell shaded pictures, and thus a bit harder than what some people took on, but on the flip side I had no time limit on myself, and was fairly flexible in my goals throughout the project. My main goals were colour usage and speed of completing the actual drawing.

What are your goals for this then?
The steel artist challenge for me is going to be speed paints focusing on working to a time limit, getting the piece looking good in a certain amount of time, and as a consequence, reducing my tendency to over work my pictures. Also I'm hoping it will increase my ability to work on the fly, and become more accurate with anatomy and proportions, as I have to get it right quickly to keep to the time limit.
I'm also hoping to again work on colour, and to work on adding more texture into my work without having to always resorting to textures (as in, use more custom and interesting brushes). I'm also going to experiment with different levels of zoom and cropping depending on what the piece calls for as at the moment, and playing with various different compositions when the piece calls for it.

What are the tiers?
The tiers are the payment scale I'm using for these commissions. One being the cheapest and three being the most expensive. The higher the tier, the more time will be spent on that piece, thus the more detailed it will end up looking. Mostly this is expressed in the characters, sometimes it might have a decent background with it. I tend to rough everything in then do the important things first (face, torso/body, and leave the extremities till last).

How can I get one?

What's next!?
I guess it'll be titanium and then tungsten carbide or something! I'll figure that out when I get there xD

Character references/pictures, because they are sad and neglected, and maybe this will remind me to draw them more. Also as a resource for anyone who wants to get art with my characters.
