Updates!
Posted 5 months ago This semester has been beating me up real bad lmao. I'm still behind on some patreon work and need to the finish the ych painting which has been sitting on my page here for months now, but I'm approaching the end of the semester finally, as its over on the 21st! I'd be working on stuff in between classwork as normal, but I've had a large chunk of groupwork tossed onto me with our animation final since the majority of my group isn't confident using the software that's been in use all semester. So! I'm stuck animating about 9 more shots in a span of two weeks while also designing a game level to a point of first playable for my other course, which has also been tough cuz I'm still baby with programming and I'm just learning to script in blueprint for that. So that's where I'm at lately!
I'm not gonna be open for commissions until at least the 29th or so because I'll be taking a few days as a break to un-burnout and relax a bit, and then I'll be throwing myself back into painting and working through the last patron sketches. I'm not sure how or what I'll be opening for right now, cuz I don't want it to wind up backing up work, even if I won't be competing for time with college courses.
I haven't had the time to look into streaming stuff again, and really the one thing I'm missing outside of stream decoration is just a good virtual audio splitter. I used to use Razer surround, which for a while seemed to work fine until I had to update to Win11 a few years ago, and now its not supported and doesn't split the audio it seems. It's not a huge issue since I'm not in calls as often anymore, but it'd be nice for streaming a whole screen in the case of programs with lots of extra windows to em too so I'm not playing people's voices back at em.
Otherwise, I'm accepted and will be vending at PAWcon in November, and I've been picking up watercolor a little bit lately! I'm hoping to get into learning it a bit over the summer as well as returning to felting a bit. I've got a bunch of plans for art shows that I really hope I can put together, and since selling the inkwash pieces at AFC last year I've really wanted to make more fun kink art originals and traditional art overall. Hoping I can get a couple paintings done up over the summer to scratch that need. Sketch Commissions [Closed]!
Posted 9 months agoOpening for 4 sketch commissions! Not first come first serve and I'll be closing around 7pm pst the 31st.
Wash sketches are $70 and color is $100, add the base price for extra characters. My recent posts here, while behind by a few months, have examples for both styles.
You can send commission info in an email to (zannathedragon@gmail.com) or send a note here for a slot.
These will be started mid February with a March/April completion estimate since I'm in two decently heavy courses this semester.

FC 2025 and Updates!
Posted 9 months agoHope everyone had a good holiday season and didn't get too sick! Most of December for me was being deliriously sick with a cold and trying to finish up finals but I survived...
I won't be vending it, but I will be at FC next week! Excited to attend it again and see friends, I really want to do some sketch jams or something this year if I can. I was hoping this year I'd have Zan's fursuit all repaired and with the tail made, but last year was just nonstop classwork or comm work so that was off the table. Maybe this summer I'll get em back in shape though!
I'm closing in on finishing my queue work finally as well, I've got a couple AFC sketches to wrap up, an overdue comic piece, the YCH, and the patron sketches. This week I've been working to knock out the last of these, got one person all caught up and working on rough sketches for the next now. With the rate I'm going at I'm really hoping to have things all done in February, but I'll definitely need to open for new work this month to make rent payment, so that'll likely be the week after FC with a late Feb to mid March turnaround. I go back to classes on the 27th of this month, so I've been cramming in as much work as my body will allow each week day and taking the weekends to try cleaning and organizing my space. I'm really grateful to everyone who's commissioned me and been so patient over the last year, it's been a rough one and I'm hoping I can manage my time better to not fall so far behind again this year.
I'm also real far behind in uploads lately here so I'm gonna try getting in a few each week to catch that up when I can.

Last few weeks of semesterrr
Posted 11 months agoI'm in the last two weeks of my courses for this semester which I greatly underestimated how much of an impact they'd have on my work time whoops. Been squeezing in commission work during weekdays between classes and working my ass off on some real heavy topics for the online course on weekends and I am so ready to have real breaks again on weekends!! I'm nearing the end of the commissions I took just prior to AFC, and a few sketches have been started for the AFC pieces during that while waiting on other responses.
Since I'm farther behind than I thought I'd be here, I'm holding out on opening for new work until January or so, this year has just been too much at once and in that I've fallen way too far back on Patreon pieces for the tier that's supposed to get monthly sketch work. The plan right now is to complete the comm stuff and then spend the rest of December and early January catching up on all the sketches owed. Next Fall will finally be my last semester at college, provided I don't screw up somewhere along the way here, but that's why I've been prioritizing the coursework a ton. During the last semesters here when I open for work I'll likely be expecting a 2-3 month wait time, since that's been about the level of delay I've noticed.
Since I've been so busy with classes I've fallen behind on personal work as well, and haven't been able to add to my setup for cons. Didn't get in for vending anywhere for 2025, so I'll likely only be attending FC and maybe vending Paw if I can get in on time next year. Really need time where I'm not stressing over work and school for several months to think up ideas for things again, as I'd really love to get more prints together and do some more felting! The monthly sketchbooks have been pretty thin because of this as well, but I hope people enjoy my little pen stuff, it's definitely been a source of enjoyment during the worst of this year.
Finally, I'm upgrading my PC's cpu after about ten years of it's existence with me. A lot of the old beast is getting replaced with this upgrade, and with that upgrade I'm hoping to get around to streaming artwork again. I'm sure I've mentioned it before but for reasons I can't really pinpoint I've been increasingly anxious about doing live art again, and that sucks! A side program I used to use to display current songs also seems to have lost support and died, so before I start up again I'll need to build a little stream border or something and work a slot into it for current music, or just leave it out, but it was nice to have the current track up so I don't need to answer what I'm listening to in chat. If I get the nerve up again for it and can make a temp setup I may stream some of the work through December to get back into the swing of things, but don't take that as a hard and fast promise of streams again.
Hugely grateful for people's patience and support this year, it's been a particularly rough one for working and it means to the world and more to me that I can even still create anything for others.Home From AFC!
Posted a year agoWhat a great first year convention omg!! AFC was such a fun con even though I was working most of it, everyone was so nice and I had some great chats with folks about art or Rain World or Monhun, and I had just enough time to enjoy the evenings at the con, a rare thing for vending lol. I'll definitely be trying to vend there again next year, the only major snags were with the venue and staff got stuff cleared up lightning fast when something did happen. Great area though with plenty to walk to from the hotels, good food in the con space which is important since outside wasn't allowed, and omg the way it was all setup was just so good! The night market featuring music on the other side of the room from vendors made it perfect for browsing without my ears getting too blown out to talk with vendors, the open middle area for hanging out and watching the shibari panel on Saturday night was sooo chill. Just a very solid setup overall.
This con was the first time I've ever put art into the art show at a convention too, and I'm so honored that all four pieces sold! I definitely want to make some more paintings that are less last minute next time. For FC I'm also considering making another monhun needle felt for the show, either a Zinogre or maybe one of the new guys from Wilds.
I'm still VERY tired from the whole ordeal, driving the 5 hours there and back felt fine during the event itself but it sure all hit me at once when I got home. I'm so glad I took it in chunks and I'm v glad for
mongrelist and
hiimshibby for letting me crash with them so I wasn't doing 8 hour drives there and back lmao. This week I'm catching up on my missed homework from the week before the con and doing this week's homework for college, and organizing commissions taken at the con and the week before. Next week I'll be back to work in earnest wrapping up some older works and starting sketches for the new stuff the week after hopefully!
I'll also be uploading the sketchbook for both August and September today, last month was just too insane for me to put together the August one and I missed posting at all from how busy I got. Definitely want to avoid that going forward and if I know I'll have a busy month or the prior month's sketchbook is looking too thin I'll put a pause on memberships for everyone. I've been in a big catchup rut with it this year that I'm still digging out of, trying to dedicate a day a week to get a few of the wyvern tier sketches out to everyone and I'm very thankful for people's patience with me while this year has repeatedly beat the hell out of me lmao.
Due to the additional con queue and prior queue, I'll probably be opening next in mid November and just trying my hardest to grind out the work this month. As for where I'll be vending next, I'm hoping for a spot at the FC Artist Alley, as that will be my next con regardless of vending. Fingers crossed for LVFC dealers as well!!

AFC 2024 bound!
Posted a year agoHeading to AFC next week and I'll be in the artist alley! I'll be posting the map over the weekend with my spot, since I'm not dealing for FC unless I get a day spot in the artist alley, this will be the last chance for a good while to get any of my prints or stickers. I'll have one new print with me, of the dragon painting from June, and I have sparkle versions of all available prints! On top of this, I'll also be debuting a new version of the popular hypno cerberus sticker, now with a fancy holographic finish over all the hypno swirl elements, super psyched to have this printed with my initial vision for the sticker!!
I haven't posted my felting adventures much here, but I will have two felted critters up for sale in the AFC art show! Ideally I'll have some smaller needle felted guys at my table, but that's asking a lot for where I'm currently at art wise I think oops. I plan to also have two inkwash originals for sale in the art show, though they'll both be kink themed! Painting out a bondage piece and a hypno piece when I get the chance for it.
If you're going to AFC feel free to come say hi! I'll be doing inkwash sketches at the table this time instead of my usual ink lined stuff, as well as having pencil sketches available too. Excited to see this con's debut!

Out of Town Until the 19th!
Posted a year agoI'll be out of town until August 19th starting tomorrow, so commission progress will be on hold until the 20th since I likely won't be able to hit the ground running with that. Getting some last minute sketches and edits out today though.

AFC 2024! Badges open
Posted a year ago Plans are solidified for it so I will be vending in the artist alley at Another Furry Con 2024! It's in Ontario, California in the end of September, from the 27th-29th! As it was an extremely hectic summer I'm gonna be struggling to throw together reprints of stickers, but I plan to restock my Foxstarion print for this con's theme, just lines up much too well. If you wanted one at BLFC, Paw, or FC and didn't nab it, this will be your shot!
Aside from prints and the usual merch I bring to cons, I'm going to be trying something a little different this time and may have a small selection of needle felted guys at the table as well! I've only recently started into it as mostly a hobby, but I've been wanting to make some for sale as well. The current plan is to have a few slugcats, crows, a little oakleaf wizard opossum, and if I have the time some teeny monhun guys! If I can swing the time and wool expense I may also enter a small diorama piece into the art auction, we'll see! Ideally I'd love to make some adoptables with needle felting, so people can take home a new character and a cute little sculpture of said character as well, I think it'd be fun and cute.
All that said, I also have badges open now for pickup at the con! This guarantees a badge that will be ready to wear for the convention, digital or traditional. As I try to give myself more time to also see conventions while vending so I'm not working all day through it, pre-con badges are the best way to get a badge from me. Pricing as follows.
Digital at $80 bust, $130 Waist up, or $180 fullbody, Marker at $100 bust, $150 waist up, or $200 fullbody.
I'll be taking 5 slots total as usual for these. You can send a note or an email (zannathedragon@gmail.com) but be sure to include a reference, which type of badge you're interested in getting, and details for the badge itself like pose, theme, or expression. Too damn hot
Posted a year agoHope everyone is staying safe from the heat this past week and going forward. I've been caught between two intensive summer courses, trying to push through the May opening I had and some earlier works, and this awful weather.
The sole good news is that I think I've only got a week and a half of these classes left for summer! Then I can return to focusing on stuff until late August when my fall semester begins. I've felt genuinely awful about how little work I've been able to squeeze into each week this summer, I was supposed to have everything done by now, but it is what it is and I'll be pushing as hard as I can to finish things out after the 17th. Taking a science class in the summer has been brutal, but at least it's getting done fast. I've been going 40+ hour weeks of just schoolwork for four weeks now with little to no break and I'm ready to have a weekend again... I've finally got a graduation eta after floundering through college for far too long, end of 2025. It'll be nice to focus solely on making art and learning things like 3D at a more sustainable pace alongside my 2D works.
Despite it all, I've been pecking at pen sketches through June, which you can now see for $1 on my Patreon if you're interested! There's 19 pieces in the newest sketchbook since I was attempting a page of doodles per day in June until I couldn't get in the time for it. It was a very fun experiment though, and one I will try to put more into when I'm back to a less hectic schedule again. That said the usual sketchbook amounts lately have been in the 5-7 sketches range, so right now the Patreon is more or less a tip jar instead of something I've been able to put a lot of effort into. I'm heavily behind on the wyvern tier rewards, though I'll be sending out probably a large dump of backlog sketches through August and into September.
Speaking of September, I've been accepted into the artist alley for Another Furry Con 2024. I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to actually do this con still despite it being so close though, but I would love to see it's first year and hope to solidify my plans for it soon. I'll post a journal once those are able to be hammered out more.
Those looking for commission openings should expect small openings near the end of the month as I finish out the current queue. Ideally I'll be open for a normal batch of them around late August once I've caught up on the Patron sketch backlog more.
That's all from me though, stay safe and cool everyone. Medical Bills, Help Needed
Posted a year agoI really didn't want it to come to this but I could really use the help. I've set up a ko-fi goal here, https://ko-fi.com/uncommoncritter/goal?g=0 or if you're interested in getting to see some sketch stuff (it's been very slim lately due to college work as a fair warning) you can sub to my Patreon here, https://www.patreon.com/UncommonCritter.
Any help at all is incredibly appreciated, I really wouldn't be asking if I could take care of this myself.
UPDATE 4/20/24: THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thanks to everyone's incredibly generous help I've been able to get the bill paid off, I can't overstate how grateful I am to have such an incredibly kind community.
Back from LVFC!
Posted a year agoWhat a great con omfg, the hotel and location and everything was awesome! I didn't spend as much time doing con specific events, but we were so close to stuff the atmosphere never really left the whole time. Idk if they'll be able to stay in that hotel as they grow, but hopefully!
Now that I'm home again I'm sort of cleaning up some homework assignments I couldn't get done before the weekend, then heading onto setting up sketches for the April completion commissions and catching up on the Patreon sketches. The sketchbook for last month is being put together today for patrons, sketchbooks are slim while I'm juggling college and commissions. In good news on that, my college time may finally be coming to an end winter 2025!!! I've been in this slow crawl through it for too damn long and I'm genuinely so excited to be free to devote more time to making artwork. The next two years will be hard while I push myself to do well and get my classes DONE but hopefully it'll have been worth it. I want to explore learning in Blender more once I can devote some time each week to learning with it and creating things, but learned that its just not feasible for me to balance with everything now.
I hope everyone is having a good springtime in the meanwhile!!

Commissions closed!
Posted a year agoOpening for 10 slots to be completed by late May at the latest! First five will be a late April completion, then I'll be moving onto college finals, and then completing the last of these.
If interested you can send a note here, or send an email to Zannathedragon[at]gmail.com with the details of the commission, refs, and your paypal email for the invoice. Email will be easier for communication than notes for me though.
NSFW is fine for this opening as well.
Edit 3/21/24: Slots are full! Thank you everyone for your interest, I'll be sending invoices and getting info together over the next few days, and then starting on the queues in two weeks. Gotta get a hearty chunk of classwork done before LVFC on the 28th so I probably won't be drawing too much those days.

LVFC and updates!
Posted a year agoThe past couple months have been Rough dot biz for me with adjusting to two online classes and trying to clear up queue stuff, and I still have. A lot of uploads to catch up on for that here now haha... I keep putting it off but I'll probably try posting a couple things a week or so to catch up! ;; Both courses have been pretty heavy work loads this time around, so I'm trying to balance working two full days and then just getting anything else in that I can after prioritizing classwork.
That said, I'll be going to LVFC this year! I WON'T be vending which will be a welcome break to be able to just enjoy a con for once. Very excited to go since it'll be my first time visiting Las Vegas as well. I will however be taking on some badges for this con so if you're interested in a badge from me and going to LVFC, I'll be able to deliver it to the con. In addition to that, since this con is 21+ if you're interested in kink themed badges I'll be open to those themes, wear responsibly and all that.
Prices:
Digital at $75 bust, $125 Waist up, or $175 fullbody
Marker at $80 bust, $130 waist up, or $200 fullbody.
Slots:

If you're looking for normal commission openings, I haven't been open since FC and I'm really sorry for that! I want to work my queue down to only the Patreon sketches owed, so once I'm there I'll be posting up another journal with information. The wait time on these will be something like 2-3 months depending on how the end half of this semester shakes out though.

Further Confusion 2024!!!
Posted 2 years agoHello I've been insanely busy the past couple months but its time again for cons! I will be vending at FC 2024 this year! You'll be able to find me at table #65 B between Mongrelist and Crosschopper. I'm taking limited at con commissions this year to enjoy more of my time, so if you want a commission from at the con you'll need to swing by early Friday. Otherwise if you missed BLFC and PAW, I'll have all three new prints in. Sadly I did not have the time to create more glow in the dark stickers, so if you asked about Rain World lizard stickers at BLFC I couldn't complete them :<.
Hope to see people there! Stay safe and warm in this chilly winter weather and Happy New Year!

Home from BLFC and PAWcon!
Posted 2 years agoThat was a very fun and very exhausting double event trip for me, thank you to everyone who bought something, stopped by the table, or hung out with me for making this the best con event I've had in a while. I need to take this week to rest a bit, work on some patreon art, and then I'll be able to start on all the take home work I've gotten from the two cons.
If they do this back to back thing again next year I will probably still do it even with how tiring it was ultimately. It was super worth it to see so many friends I'd never been able to meet in person before or wasn't expecting to see at BLFC, and PAW was a good cool-down even with it being a good bit larger this year. The energy was great, and it was good to see them trying new things like the night market setup.

BLFC/PAWcon badges open!
Posted 2 years agoIts that time once again! I'll be vending at BOTH BLFC and PAWcon this year, it'll be crazy hectic but I'm excited for it all the same. I'm going to be taking 5 slots for now for these badges, but I'll ALSO be open for 10 early bird grabs of my con favorite GREMLIN badges! If you haven't seen these before they are small doodle badges, usually 3x3 or 4x4 inches at max. They're quick and silly and always great fun.
You can send details and refs via note here or email me at zannathedragon@gmail.com. These will be started in October once I've finished my current queue of commissions so I can focus on the badges.
Digital: Headshot $75, waist-up $125, fullbody $175
Marker: Headshot $80, waist-up $130, fullbody $200
Gremlins: $20 standard (inks only), $30 deluxe (messy rough color)
For examples, https://twitter.com/UncommonCritter.....66818357669888 Here is a sample of digital and traditional badges, and here is a sample of gremlins, https://twitter.com/UncommonCritter.....54369417965569

Heatwave
Posted 2 years agoJust wanted to offer a heads up that I’ll be a little slow to finish the rough sketches this week due to a nasty heatwave. I’ll also be out of town from the 20th to the 25th visiting friends, and likely will not be doing a lot of work that weekend.
I still plan to get as much finished this and early next week as I can, but this mostly depends on how cool I can keep my workspace with only a fan for heat control.

New platforms?
Posted 2 years agoWith Twitter repeatedly shooting itself in the foot I'm finally getting off my ass and starting to poke at some new platforms as well. I set up a Postybirb after knowing about it for years and just being a little too tired of needing to get new stuff to stay online, but now is as good a time as any to learn I suppose. So in addition to FA, Tumblr, and Twitter, I can now also be found at Itaku, Cohost, and Bluesky!
UncommonCritter is my main name on all three of those new places, and may someday be changed here if FA ever finally gets in name changing. On Cohost I also have Dergorb for nsfw and kink artwork, and eventually I'll have that sort of side profile for Bluesky as well. Itaku has a split sfw and ad profile feature, which I like, but doesn't seem to allow the usernames to be separate, which is a bummer. Despite letting FA be a big mashup of everything, I like being able to split my profiles for sfw and nsfw art overall under different names for those who only want to see the sfw OR only want the fun weird stuff. Hoping they allow that in the future. For now, that's what I got down and I need to take some time to make a new icon and banner since its been a good few years since I've touched that at all.
In addition to these new websites, I'm debating making a public Discord server for art posting and chatting. Unfortunately I have a lot of anxieties around running such a thing though, so this is more to put the idea into the world in a way that I may come back to. I'll have to learn how to add and use some bots for easier role management, but if I can get that all set up I'll be making a journal about it as well.
As long as FA stays floatin along I'll do my damndest to post here too, so no worries on this dragon leaving here. I just wish I could make my username consistent with what I've swapped it to and well. I don't really want to fully remake my FA.
Unrelated to all of this a secret announcement within the announcement! I will be vending at both BLFC and PAWcon this year! That week is going to be insane! I'm hoping to have a few prints for the first time at those, and if I can I'd love to put together some small zines with kind of the best of sketches I've done over the past couple years. We'll see if that happens at all what with needing to do college courses at the same time. I hope to see people there!

Post-FC updates, Covid exposure
Posted 2 years agoForgot to make a journal after FC!!
Thank you everyone who stopped by the table to chat or buy something, FC was a great con this year and I'm so happy to see it come back so strong. It was probably the best con I've been to in a bit even if I couldn't make it out to the usual late night party stuff this year. Its been a busy few weeks with getting back to college again and still catching up on old Patreon sketches but I'm managing! My classes are only in the morning this semester, which means once I get used to the schedule and create a good routine I should be able to use the rest of the afternoon for work and still get in an hour of homework studies before stopping for the day.
Unfortunately however my mom tested positive for Covid this weekend. We live together and have been taking all precautions we can but there's still a higher chance than usual for me to get it because of this. I'll update the journal if symptoms show up and be sure to stay in contact if this causes a significant delay.
Edit as of 2/1/23: Spread to me now unfortunately so I'm in recovery mode once again.
