Graduating, inactivity in the furry community

I hope everyone is enjoying COVID lockdown! Yeeeeahh perhaps not so much, then. Regardless, I know I have been inactive but take heart, I am still here. I feel the need to become like I was when I was a teenager - active, social and posting on the internet at large, especially with my art. So many doodles and sketches of mine go unsubmitted due to not wanting to fuss with image editing or formatting, and certainly not wanting to scan. And, that's just art. My community presence has been horribly lacking, and I apologize for that.
People get busy.
I got too busy being an adult, not to mention my growing car obsession. Current totals are up to three, and that does not include my wife's civic! I maaaaaaaaaaay have a problem. Anyhow, here is to hopefully being online more often, and reaching out to more people; friends new and old.
Oh and yeah, I am finally getting that stupid piece of paper saying I know what I already have known for years now. Perhaps a master's program is on the horizon, perhaps not. It depends upon finances and how much my employer is willing to contribute (not to mention moving or house hunting and the time / money that comes with these endeavors).
Anyhow, thanks to anyone that might have bothered to read this. Take care.

Work, cons Marriage and home
Posted 7 years agoWow, It has certainly been a minute or two.
This may change if I ever get around to doing art the way I want to. Nevertheless, art is not not something that has come up much this past year. More like work, Hurrican Maria dislocating my folks, moving to a great condo and finding out that our roommates is leaving us early.
I quit Dominos as a side job, still rocking Behavioral stuff for my day job. I also did some more uber, came back from that to try to work a professional mental health side job (losing that soon for REASONS - it's where Candra works, they dont like spouces working together). And since finding out the roommate thing.. I'm back at that pizza HUSTLE.
So no, no art going on. Which is a shame. I enjoy doing it. If anyone has any cool art ideas or characters you want me to mess with, I would be happy to give it a shot. I mainly have time for a sketch, otherwise fleshing something out nowadays might take like 2 weeks for a color piece if I get the time. Nevetheless.. okay.
Oh, and yeah...
FURSUIT NEARS. I talked to my maker, and they are aiming for but not promising it for MFF. Let's hope for the best.
Three years in the making. I am ready, hahaha.
I will not bore you with wedding stuff, but we will be getting married on the Mass coast on June 1st 2019. Just secured the place.
For Cons.... unfortunately, I have missed every furry con this year. We will only be going to MFF, with the help of some good friends. We could have made more, but the economic strain of having a debt-free wedding and high rent.. whooyeah.
2020 should be a good year for cons. Personally I would like to return to AC, and might try megaplex or FWA, as well my personal favorite, ANE.
For next year (2019... budget, budget, budget. We will likely miss ANE, unless we run into money we feel comfortable with not spending much. We may go to MFF 19 if 18 proves to be fun! We will wait and see, bit chances are high. Alternative is perhaps one of the new smaller cons earlier in the year in PA, or perhaps go alone to Furpocalypse.
And I believe that's the rundown! I might make a separate mention for car issues and fun times.

Doing art for work
Posted 8 years agoThe idea has crossed my mind, to do art for income. However, I do not have the resources to do digital art, or to upload things efficiently to my computer. Also, I need to work on my speed and base forms for anthros. It takes me a little too ong to work on one piece right now. Also, everyone seems to want digital, so there is that as well.

Also, life update. We are getting kick out of our apartment at the end of our lease. YAY. Not. Apparently one of the nighbors does not like us, even though she does not want to talk to us about her issues, and has been smiling to us while complaining to the landlord secretly. Threatened to move. All of that jazz. Sigh.

If i become active in doing art and seeking commissions, look for far more social stuff on FA. That being said, AC is coming up... so... likely will be becoming a little more active soon regardless.

That being said - HI THERE EVERYONE.
I have been busy working, trying to be ready in case we are forced to move (mold issues in our apt) and getting stuff situated for fall semester (already ready to go, just need my texts). Also, i'm just so often conflicted in my longing to talk to people and my anxiety around it XD. siiigh, welcome to my world.
Anyhow.
So on to positives: I am going to Vermont Comic-Con! I will be attempting to do a Nightwing cosplay - this is a last-minute plan so we will have to see how well this plan is going to shake down, but regardless, with a bit (read: A LOT) of a push from
candracabunda i have grown to be excited about this.
I may, however, not make it to Furpocalypse, due to the mold and moving issue. More updates on this to come, soon.
And lastly: I have an after-dark twitter 0.0 GASP OH MY GOD I LIKE SEXY THINGS. True though, i finally did it. Mostly as just a place to admire classy adult material and some sick yiff art. Don't, however, expect to hear some surprise opinions or any nudie pics - i dont post up that stuff, and im open enough about politics and opinions on my general twitter. Girlfriend's father passed, support, and more.

My girlfriend, 's father passed away two days ago after being in the hospital one week after a catastrophic hemmoragging stroke suffered due to getting lost in the woods in the rain and cold and getting hypothermia. He survived 6 days past doctor's estimates. He also passed away on her 25th birthday, which also happend to be the day before father's day.
I have been doing my best to support her emotionally and financially (took unpaid time off) without having to cancel AC. She is going through a rough time with family drama but hopefully this will all pass very soon.
Anyone who sees her at AC please give her the biggest of hugs.

mates father stroke, AC, and other things

This has been a hard weekend for me. I was supposed to post up a really excited ac meme because this AC was supposed to be special- why, well... you still may see.
However,
I have been at the bedside of my mates father after he got lost in the woods and had a hemmoragging stroke, waiting for him to leave this world, while dealing with infighting of her family about how badly her sister was caring for him.
As I said. Bad weekend. Hopefully once the inevitable happens we can start to find joy and healing again with our trip, but it being so soon.. I've no idea.
Anyhow, thank for reading... for anyone who does. I know with the exodus and whatnot, and with my silence, there is likely not many who will see this.

General Update

So my life has been.. well. Good and bad. I bought an almost new car, but unfortunately had to get right of my beloved Impreza. Alas, we all have to grown up and buy grown-up things - Enter my 2014 Mazda 6 sport. Bit of a unicorn as well, seeing as I actually found one with a manual transmission!
WORK:
After starting at the Psychiatric hospital, i started driving for Uber in whatever time off i had.
Yeah. not a car guy thing to do. Fun, but sucks for your car, and pays shit. By the way: TIP YOUR UBER DRIVER!! WE HAVE BETTER CARS THAN MANY CAB COMPANIES BUT MAKE SHIT, BE NICE!
Ahem.
I have given notice to the state of vermont, after struggling for months with being given night shift, which i=I had NOT planned on when i started here. It has been a serious detriment to my health, both physically and mentally, plsu i do not even get to have any weekend nights off (work Saturday night and Friday night, sleep most of Sunday away).
SO
I will be going back to my old field of working with children with disabilities in an educational setting (behavior intervention) for a small startup company in the capitol region near where i live. No bennies, but my god, I will be able to sleep at night (in more ways than one - I honestly feel better about myself working private sector).
CONS: Likely will have to skip on Furpoc again this year. Maybe i'll make it work if the money materializes.
HOWEVER, I will be at Anthrocon with candra_cabunda

I will be going to part of Anthro New England 2016!!!!!!! I will have to work an overnight Friday night into Saturday, then i will go directly from work down to Boston, will be unable to join me, unfortunately. I have a room for Saturday, But i do not have one for Sunday (yet), i will be trying to finagle something. If anyone knows of someone with some space, even in the tub, HMU!!
Anyhow looking forward to seeing some people seeing as i had to miss Furpocalypse this past year.

THE BAD NEWS:
As some of you know, I am now working at a Psychiatric hospital. I was promised 2nd shift by the HR person, but it turns out I will have to work 3rd shift for minimum half a year until some other shift opens up (3rd shift is 1030 pm to 7 in the morning.... god fuck my life). it could take up to an entire year before i have the seniority to actually push through and get the shift I want. At least I kind of have Sundays off, and Mondays (good for school, errands, etc)... which pretty much means much of Tuesday as well. Hoping this shit will change soon, or else ill have to take my old job back. Anyhow, how does this affect meets and such? Until about 5 months from now, If i want to take any time off, i will need to work OT in order to do it. that means, one meet and month and one date night with Candra per month is minimum 16 hours of OT per month, lol. Wired how it works out, but at least its there. Point is, i need to know what i'm doing weeks in advanced, hope i work enough, and ask for it off in order to make it. After 6 months it's pretty much the same, but i can pull from vacation.
Good news? Anything super local (Burlington area) i can still hit up if it's not too early in the day (dudes gotta sleep yo).

I'm down here for my usual trip to see my family and extended family. I also managed to bring candra_cabunda here with me, which is the farthest she has ever traveled away from New England! So, good times, good times.
We have both also embarked on career changes. For my part I am now working at a Psychiatric Hospital! It's quite different from what I have done in the past, but has its own unique advantages and interesting aspects.

Posted 10 years agoWOW i am quite here. It's been bad before but this.. is garbadge lol. I would forgive myself if i was more active on other art sites or furry social networking sites... but alas, not so much.
But at least for the next few months things are likely going to get better. After 9 years i have finally retired from landscaping and work exclusively in the Developmental Services / Psychology field, and am continuing my education at a different college (JSC for those that know / care, lol).
Also after living in the Northeast Kingdom of VT for a decade, i have finally relocated ( with candra_cabunda ) to a more populated area of VT (or close to it) - Waterbury. As very select few know, i work in the Capitol / twin cities region and even with a new job at the Psychiatric Hospital, thats going to stay the same. So my commute just shrank. Not to worry, i will still keep up with my car shenanigans - I still own multiple lol.
Fursuit it still in the works with critter creations.. still needing to do the DTD. I will be sure to post a pic or two.
Also, the day we moved was most regrettably Halloweenm which meant we missed not only the chance to fursuit / dress up and go out bar hopping, but i missed Furpocalypse . That was the first time i missed FF/FP since 2008, when it was the first convention I went to, on the first trip alone i ever went on, and met the first furries i had ever met face to face.
Oh well. Being an adult is fun aint it? lol

You don't think about it too much until your vacation request gest denied and you see fends of yours enjoying their lives while you toil. But. It's not without its... various, financial benefits. But honestly I wild rather have my secondary job be making art, but I know I have a ways to go before this occurs.

Oh and as always... sorry for being so quiet. Though as time rolls on, this become less of It Is FurAffinity, and more of oh its just FA.
SO yeah, AC was super super busy this year, and as always, i was being pulled away from hanging around with a lot of people... though i still got to see dear friends that i had not, in literally years. That part was special. And also... i think we all felt emotional about the parade. I was honored to be a part of such a thing, where for once, non furries did not just like furs, but loved them. An amazing event.
Anyhow yes there were some hiccups. i ran way low on money, my girlfriend sprained her knee and i walked her, supporting her, while i was in fursuit, four city blocks back to the DT, and also we lost some art we bought. But oh well - inside joke for old FF attendees..
"BEST CON EVER" Haha.
So my girlfriend is officially a furry and participating in the awesome crazy family of a place! Heh. We have been together for almost a year at this point and going strong. great feeling to know that of all the things we share, we share yet another. Yeah yeah i know, i get all mushy - so i wont go on. But you should go on - her page! :) candracabunda

How presumptuous of me to try and start organizing one con trip before another convention even begins! Alas, the early dog gets the treat? lol, I don't know.. fail ..
So, i will be leaving for AC on July 8th. This will be my first Anthrocon Wednesday night in years, so im fairly excited for the extra long trip. I am looking for some people to either convoy with, ride with, or just plain drive with (or some combination thereof). OF course, leaving Wednesday and coming back Monday. So, please spread the word! Additionally, The people i am rooming with are these two awesome dudes and

But, alas, most people are on here, so it's where i can reach most people. and see some amazing pieces of art as well.
So back to the point; i hope everyone has had an amazing Holiday season with friends and family, and i would like to wish everyone a happy new year!
I spent this Christmas eve doing the traditional dinner and Christmas gift exchange with my family, then worked and awake overnight. Christmas day i spent sleeping (after work of course) and then did a quiet christmas with my mate, with just a handful of people coming over to say hi. Not the best moment, but certainly not he worst. I was not alone :)
But here is the big part. On the eveing of the 30th, i will be departing from Boston to visit Puerto Rico for eight days, seeing both my maternal and paternal sides of the family, plus maybie get some rest and sun in. Both, i must say, are severely needed. Also, of important note... this is the first christmas i have spent with my paternal family in 15 years, the first i have spent with my mom in 18 years, and the first i have ever spent with my maternal family.

I spent this Christmas eve doing the traditional dinner and Christmas gift exchange with my family, then worked and awake overnight. Christmas day i spent sleeping (after work of course) and then did a quiet christmas with my mate, with just a handful of people coming over to say hi. Not the best moment, but certainly not he worst. I was not alone :)
But here is the big part. On the eveing of the 30th, i will be departing from Boston to visit Puerto Rico for eight days, seeing both my maternal and paternal sides of the family, plus maybie get some rest and sun in. Both, i must say, are severely needed. Also, of important note... this is the first christmas i have spent with my paternal family in 15 years, the first i have spent with my mom in 18 years, and the first i have ever spent with my maternal family.

Anyhow... I am back from Furpocalypse! !!! yay! but I do miss everyone quite a lot, however, I am ready for some more rest. considerably ready. I'm not going to make up a con report because it was pretty much SickCon for me, but I'm just happy I went. I literally would not miss a con for anything :-D
