Zaos Unlocked: Tumblr
General | Posted 13 years agoSo I went and opened a tumblr account this past week so I would have some place to post sketches and work in progress pics before they show up on FA. :3 I'll be slowly uploading my backlog there so you can see whats in the pipeline.
Check it out: http://zaosserrano.tumblr.com/
I'm also considering maybe doing a small handful of digital badge commissions for FC. Basically sketch and color the badge, email you the file and let you print and laminate it. I'm still considering it so keep your eyes open if you're interested. If I decide to do it I'll be posting a journal with the info.

OUYA! Plus art!
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm surprised I havent seen any journals posted about this on FA. So I thought I would bring attention to it. Check out the OUYA video game console on kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....o-game-console read through the project description, watch the video and if you believe in the project enough to back it, then do it. For only 99 dollars you get a console at launch along with the ability to reserve your username before the general population gets their hands on the console.
In other news you can start expecting new art starting late this week and into this weekend. I've been working on a backlog to last me for a while so you can probably expect a picture a week i would like to think. :3
I'm so sorry to have been kind of bleh for the longest time with art. I think I did so much during college that I burned myself out for the longest time and I think a lot of people forgot I even existed because I posted so little lol. So hopefully that can start to change and I can get back to posting like I was back when I first joined FA. :P

FC 2012 - Awesome!
General | Posted 14 years agoSo I got back yesterday evening from San Jose and I gotta say FC was awesome. :3 I spent a lot of time just sort of wandering from place to place most of the con, but it was really enjoyable overall.
I roomed with
djwolf,
valthonis,
trakeFur, and
luminouswolf at the Hilton. (My legs are so sooooore from all the walking back and forth from the hotel to the convention proper)
Got to hang out with a lot of my friends, met some new ones and had a great time. (Even went to the marriot bar which is not something i normally wouldn't do lol) I spent a lot of my time browsing the dealers den where as usual I bought some prints from Blotch as well both of my good friend
artmutt's portfolios.
Some friends who made the con awesome:
lyonlover,
Canrexplay,
digitaldragon,
Tigon,
bloodwiser,
ranan,
lionheart1125,
zatodragon,
t-wolf, ash, and so many more it would be almost impossible to list you all here.
There were only a few lows during the con, but so many more high points to the point I barely remember many of the lows now looking back. Except for my still simmering annoyance with Delta airlines delaying my return layover flight at the last minute causing me to get home super late. X.x
I'm looking forward to next year's FC and I can't wait for next years theme of retro sci-fi. :P I'm also going to attempt to attend Rainfurrest this year as well. Fingers crossed it will work out.
I'll be posting the badges I handed out tomorrow after work. I'll have more works coming soon after that. :3
Also: Anyone who wants a good book I recommendthe hunger games. I bought the first book on a whim at the airport and it was amazing. X3

Obligatory Post FC Journal
General | Posted 15 years agoTL;DR Version: This shit was amazing. Everyone was awesome! Hoping I can go again next year!
Well FC has come and gone and it was awesome!
I roomed with
DJwolf,
Tigon and
bloodwiser this year and all three made the con so enjoyable. Thanks guys for making this the most memorable con yet!
Anyway onto the con report!
Thursday:
Flew out of Minneapolis around 9 in the morning and arrived in San Jose around noon local time. Was met by DJ,
trakefur and
valthonis at baggage claim and after waiting forever for Delta to unload the plane we grabbed my luggage and journeyed off to take public transit to the hotel. After accidentally grabbing the wrong bus we eventually made it to the Fairmont where I dropped off my luggage and proceeded to grab a late lunch with Val at Pita Pit (The buffalo chicken pita is amazing <3 ). Spent the rest of the night just kind of letting myself adjust to being in California. Handed out a few of the badges that I made for friends (which I will post sometime either today or tomorrow depending on how busy I am unpacking and such) and all in all acted lazy.
Friday:
Friday is all sorts of a blur to me. Ran into a lot of friends, met plenty of awesome new people. Spent a great deal of time in the dealer's den browsing my favorite artist's, chatting with a couple of them who I'm friends with, and picked up my awesome new badge from
mongooseink (Which can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4458032/ and I love it so much <3 <3 ). Enjoyed the fursuit dance competition. Lots of awesome performances and really great song choices for dances. Got to hang out with
mrk-9 for a good while and listened to him tell some amazing stories that almost had me suffocating I was laughing too much. I also met
wolfblade and
gtskunkrat at the same time since they arrived shortly after us to hang out with K-9 as well. Both of them seem like really awesome guys and I had a blast meeting them. Also, if you haven't tried the French bakery located in the south tower of the Fairmont you are missing out! I went there twice during the convention, once on Friday and once on Sunday. They have amazing food there. It's especially nice when it's sunny outside and you get to eat at the outside seating area.
Saturday:
Saturday was a bit more eventful. Woke up around 11 and ran into
canrexplay, Digi, and Ash. Rex had to run off to prep for the fursuit parade but me, Digi, and Ash went over to Gordon Biersch for lunch where I discovered this amazing little food item known as garlic french fries. We were joined by
t-wolf,
zatodragon and one other guy who I unfortunately did not catch the name of (Sorry dude! If you are reading this let me know so I can adjust it!). After the meal I had to run because I wanted to catch the fursuit parade. Surprisingly I found a nice spot right near the start of the parade route where I proceeded to listen to my ipod while the parade went past. (Florence and the machine <3 ) After the parade I had to rush to get to the Club Regent room for DJ's music tech panel where I ran the sound board keeping the volume at a steady level so it wasn't blasting out people's ears or being far to quiet. That was fun, even tossed in my own two cents to the topic of file formats. Other than that I did my normal dealer's den browsing. Meeting new friends, handing out more badges that I'd made, etc etc. Even stopped in at the dance for a bit but didn't dance. Just listened to the kick ass tunes that were being played.
Sunday:
Sunday was rather lax since it was the last full day of the con for me. I browsed the dealer's den and hung out with my friends. Went to the dance that night and just kind of wandered the hotel. Met a few more people such as
fluke as well.
Monday:
I left the hotel before noon and got to the airport. I ended up having to wait 3 hours though for my flight seeing as it got delayed. It ended up going by pretty quickly though since I ran into
atariotter and we grabbed some lunch at "The Brit" in terminal B. I finally got on my plane and took off around 2:30.
It really ended up being a great con overall. I didn't have really any of the problems that I'd had the previous two FC's which made it much easier to enjoy.
Other friends who made this con awesome:
lace
damonhusky
straydog
reccasenli
rottyboy
navawolfe
triggerfox
jjmrpg04
disasterdog (Your suit and Hazel's were amazing dude! Definitely some of my favorites from the con)
domafox
I know there are lots more people that I met and had a great time with but my mind is shot lol. Just cause you aren't listed doesn't mean I didn't enjoy your company. Everyone made this con the best one that I've been to yet and I'm gonna miss every one of you. Here's hoping I can somehow work my financials so that I can get back out there next year for FC 2012!

How To: Save cash getting to and from the airport for FC!
General | Posted 15 years agoThis is a direct repost of
DJWolf's journal. It's good information that could potentially save you a load of cash if you had planned to take a taxi or the Fairmont's shuttle service. Any questions should be directed to
DJWolf!
Ok I have noticed a NUMBER of furs are taking either a Taxi or paying the ridiculous price the Fairmont hotel charges for their shuttle service.
There is a better way!
For just $2 one way you can take the light-rail directly from the airport to the Fairmont hotel and in reverse when you go home and here's how!
1. at both Terminal A and Terminal C there is a shuttle bus stop. Take the #10 shuttle bus labeled "airport Flyer" it will take you directly to the VTA light-rail station near the airport. The Stations name is "Metro/Airport"
2. now this next step is very important. there will be two Platforms for the station. one on the east side of the tracks. and one on the same side of the tracks that your shuttle will drop you off at. you want the platform on the same side as the Bus stop which is the southbound platform. At the platform pay the vending machine 2 dollars CASH! and it will dispense a ticket.
3. Once on the platform you will need to get on either the Blue or Green line train. Take the southbound train all the way down until you Reach the "Paseo De San Antonio" Station
4. Once off the Train and platform go slightly south about 100 feet till you reach the Corner Starbucks. once you round the corner in the distance you will see the Bridge between the Main Fairmont Hotel and the Auxiliary Tower. your there!!
and the best part is when the con is over you just get on the Light rail platform RIGHT NEXT to the Fairmont hotel which is the Northbound Rail and simply take the Light-rail back to the Metro/Airport station, Catch the #10 bus back to the airport and your on your way home!
Simple and easy! and you'll save so much money!!
Hope this helps! if you have any questions feel free to contact me!
Also Please repost this journal on yours so that we reach more people!! and save everyone money!

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
General | Posted 15 years agoMy final verdict: A-freaking-mazing
(Possible spoilers, tried to keep it spoiler free in terms of stuff exclusive to the movie, I do mention some stuff that is the same between the comics in the movie but it's stuff in the first half of the movie)
Decided to go to the movies after work Friday afternoon and I've been highly anticipating this movie since I first heard about it back when the first trailer came out and I gotta say it does not disappoint at all. <3
The visuals are stunning, especially the evil ex boss fights, each one is different and none of them are just rehashes of previous fights, from Mathew Pattel's Bollywood-esque dance moves and mystical powers to Todd Ingrams vegan psychic powers it always felt fresh and kept me engaged.
None of the special effects were amazingly over the top and felt like they fit perfectly with the video game physics that the Scott Pilgrim world runs by. It seems natural for some booming voice to yell "K.O" when you knock out someone or for someone to randomly burst into coins when they're beat, or even for a pee bar to pop up and drain when using the bathroom. XD
The music was a great mix of stuff ranging from chip tunes to rock. All of it fit and none of it felt cheesy at all especially the music from Sex Bob-bomb and The Clash at Demonhead (I want the mp3 of that song that Clash at Demonhead does in the movie <3 ). Also, the fact they opened the movie with classic Zelda music, specifically Links to the Past music, made me geek out immensely.
The story was great, there was a lot of deviation from the comic but what they did with it still felt like it stayed true to the Scott Pilgrim comics. There's lot of good little comedic points and quick cuts that work well with the style of the comics and helped make it a good transition to the big screen.
The cast is spot on in every aspect. I was worried about who they had cast as Scott, Ramona, and Envy Adams but they surprised me, Scott is just the right amount of a geeky socially awkward young adult, Ramona is as aloof and distant about her past like in the comics, and Envy Adams is just the right amount of bitchy evil ex material. Though the guy who plays Wallace Wells Scott's gay roommate is by far the best of the bunch, stealing the show with almost every appearance.
All in all it's an amazing movie that I highly recommend to anyone who's even slightly interested in seeing it. It's full of random video game references and great acting that it definitely deserves to be seen at least once just for fun. Everyone in the theater I was in was laughing and having a great time watching this, even the older crowd who probably didn't understand some of the references (who knows they might of but that's my assumption) were enjoying themselves none the less.
Gotta say, it was a great start to my weekend! =3

You know you're from Minnesota when....
General | Posted 15 years agoGot the idea from
dragoneer
1. Go to Google and type, "You know you're from (your city or state) when...." (hit "I'm feeling lucky")
2. Cut and paste the list.
3. Bold the items that apply to you
-You measure distance in minutes.
-Weather is 80% of your conversation.
-“Down south” to you means Iowa.
-Snow tires came standard on your car.
-You have no concept of public transportation.
-75% of your graduating high school class went to the University of Minnesota. (Closer to 90% I think)
-You know more than 1 person that has hit a deer.
-People from other states love to hear you say words with O’s in them.
-You know what and where Dinkytown is.
-You have no problem saying or spelling Minneapolis.
-You hate “Fargo” but realize that a lot of your family has that accent. (hate it, but no family members with the accent thank god)
-You get mad at people who think Fargo is in Minnesota.
-Your school classes have been canceled because of snow or cold.
-You know what “Mille Lacs” is, and how to spell it.
-You assume when you say “The Cities,” people know to what you are referring.
-You know what the numbers 694, 494, I-94, 394 mean.
-You have tried boiled fish in lye at Christmas.
-You know the 2 sports-related reasons why we hate Dallas.
-Nothing gets you madder than seeing a Green Bay sticker on a MN car.
-You know what “uff-da” means and how to use it properly.

My Inkbunny Account
General | Posted 15 years agoSo I signed up for that new art site Inkbunny. Liking what I'm seeing so far. =) You all can catch me on there at:
http://inkbunny.net/Zaos
NOTE: As of right now I do not have any art posted, it's way to late at night for me to go through and post art up on there. I'll be doing that in the morning after I get some decent sleep. XD

Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse
General | Posted 15 years agoSo it's been a bit since I had time to do much of anything. Thankfully school's winding down for the quarter and I'm progressively getting more and more free time each week as finals come closer and my group's final project wraps up. So to pass the time I picked up the third season of Sam and Max from Telltale Games. This season is called "The Devil's Playhouse.". Gotta say, I'm highly enjoying the episodes that have been released so far (2 of the 5 episodes are out, the second one was just released today). =3
This season feels like a complete departure from previous seasons in that the production values feel a lot higher and each episode gets more and more vast. Not to mention the story is already peeking my interest and looks like it will only get even more interesting as the later episodes roll out.
I've always been a fan of the classic Lucasarts point and click adventure games (Monkey Island, Sam and Max, Full Throttle, etc) from years ago so to feel that Telltale Games is doing these classics justice with their reboots of them is making me very happy. =P
(If anyone's interested in trying it out I believe Telltale has a demo for season 3 up on their site at: https://www.telltalegames.com/store.....evilsplayhouse )
If hope everyone's doing well, I'm hoping I'll have something post worthy soon. My art groove is slowly returning now that school is wrapping up for the the time being. =)

Late FC Post Con Report =P
General | Posted 16 years agoI completely spaced on doing this. XD Not to mention school took up my time getting caught up homework wise. Anyway! Time for a post con report of FC 2010. =3
First off, loved the new hotel, was nice having everything I needed within walking distance or a short trip on the light rail. There were a few small hiccups (as well as a few larger ones) but that's to be expected since it's the first year the con was at the hotel.
Aside from a few hiccups with the hotel during the duration of my stay I had an amazing time. Spent a lot of time with friends, made some new ones, and all around enjoyed myself way more than the previous year mostly because I wasn't sick this year! Woohoooooo! *happy dance* (lol) But seriously, I think I'm slowly but surely coming out of my shell a bit and loosening up in some respects so things are getting better with each passing year. =3 Still can't bring myself to step on the dance floor willingly of my own accord though >.> still working on that. XD
Got to meet a lot of my favorite artists, only commissioned one pic, but that's fine enough for me, there's always next year for more pictures. =P
People who made this con super memorable and enjoyable:
DJWolf (<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3)
Valthonis
sdwolf
teh
triggerfox
straydog
trakefur
omekin
T-wolf
atariwolf
pave
Arkanis
Marfydog
Tenax
overzen
Wipeout
Digi
Rusty
Cal
Steele
Ember
And a whole ton more that would take way to long to list them all. xD Just know you made my trip extremely worth it and I had a ton of fun. =)

General | Posted 16 years agoWow, time flew, just one more day to go and I'll be on my way to San Jose. FC here I come! Just have to get through one more day of class, and a half day of work then I can drop my car at the shop, pack up, sleep for a few hours and head to the airport Thursday morning. =D One scary as hell plane ride later (I haaaaate flying, though with each trip it becomes slightly less scary XD) and I'll be in California with friends. =3
Here's hoping it's a good weekend and I'll see everyone in San Jose! =D Feel free to say hi if you see me wandering around. =P
But for now... I require sleep. D= *wanders off to sleep for a few hours*

100 Sketch Challenge!
General | Posted 16 years agoYeah I'm daring myself to do 100 sketch commissions over the next few weeks. =) I'll be doing them in blocks of 10 sketches.
Commissions will be single character sketches with simple to no background, for about 10 dollars each. If you want a second character or a more detailed background we can discuss appropriate pricing via notes. You can buy as many slots as you want.
I will allow people to commission nude sketches, bits and all, for a slightly increased price. I will charge 15 dollars for a nude character sketch commission. I do have a rule though, if you add a second character to a nude sketch I will not, at this time, draw sexual situations, only pinups.
Either send me a note or comment on this journal saying you want a commission and how many if you want more than one. Once I got you marked I'll send you a note asking for details about your sketch(s).

Commissions closed for a bit.
General | Posted 16 years agoJust giving everyone a heads up I'm closing commissions for the remainder of my school semester. This semester apparently has a reputation for being just utter hell on earth so to be on the safe side I will not be accepting new commissions and I should be finishing up my remaining ones within the next week or two.
My commissions will be back sometime late September early October so keep your eyes peeled around then for new commission slots opening up. =D
Peace!

8 Things Meme + Commissions still open! =D
General | Posted 16 years agoOk first off I've been tagged by three separate individuals to do this damn meme so I'll do it. XD Jeeze! lol
Rules:
1) Post these rules
2) Post 8 true things about yourself
3) At the end you must tag 8 people and post their icons
4) Go to their page and send them a message saying you tagged them
5) NO TAG-BACKS
1) I'm an extreme gaming nerd, I love playing games in general be they board games, video games, etc.
2) Playing off #1, I'm currently enrolled in college learning to make video games for a living, the work is hell but it's so rewarding after it's all said and done and you sit back and look at the masterpiece (in your own eyes) that you created.
3) I'm a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, as well as a brown belt in Hapkido... yet I look like a super pathetic wimp. XD
4) I'm a bit of a collector when it comes to games, I currently have over 100 games spread through various systems including, but not limited to, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC.
5) I do have a boyfriend, and before you ask, and I know you want to ask, no I'm not telling who. :P
6) I'm a really big fan of Harry Potter, how big you ask? I read the sixth book in one day flat from 10 am to 3 am. >.>;;
7) I've been on a huge steampunk kick for the past few months.
8) I have the hardest time thinking of idle chit chat to start or continue conversations. I dunno why my mind just goes blank when I try thinking of topics. XD
I will tag.... nobody!
Secondly! My commissions are still open at this point, information can be found by reading this journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/808419/
Have a great weekend everyone. =P
