Are artists more active on Twitter?
Posted a year agoI used to have a Twitter account until I deleted it a few months ago because I got sick of it. Honestly it was terrible even before Elon took over.
But I also have some commission ideas. This may just be me being picky or bad at searching, but I'm finding it hard to find the intersection between (1) artist whose work I generally like, (2) artist whose style and themes would fit my commission idea, and (3) artist who's actually available for commissions. So I'm wondering if looking on Twitter - which would mean getting a new account - would broaden my search.

I'm not sure I actually like drawing
Posted a year agoIt takes a lot to psych myself up to do it, feels tiring while doing it, and it can take multiple hours to make something only somewhat decent. Plus there are other hobbies I want to work on (that are semi-attached to my real life identity so I'm hesitant to share them).
Hell there was a gap of two years between my last two drawings.
Probably I'll stick to rough concept pieces that I can show to regular artists as references for commissions.

I put my OCs under a Creative Commons license
Posted 3 years agoI put my OCs under a Creative Commons license.
I'm on the fence of whether I should extend this to my fursona. One the one hand he, well, represents me. On the other hand I'm not sure I'm that attached to him compared to how others feel about their fursonas.
The actual reason I'm putting my OCs under a Creative Commons license is because of...discourse going on right now where certain people are sounding a bit too in favour of expanding copyright laws.

I'm back
Posted 5 years agoIt took weeks to get here, but I'm finally in a swanky new apartment in a swanky new city where I'll be working for a swanky new company.
(Well, maybe not that swanky as far as companies go. But at least they'll be paying better than my last company, and they're not an obviously evil company that makes toxic waste or web ads with sound.)
I was staying with relatives during the move, so I took a break here (especially with what goes on in this account). But now I'm back.
Though catching up on my Twitter backlog is going to be a challenge.

Things have substantially improved
Posted 5 years agoSince this.
Last week I finally managed to get a job.
The moving process is kind of terrible since I'm moving to a new city and I had to arrange like six things at once. But once I'm there I'll have a better apartment and a better job than my previous job.
And when things have settled down I'm going to commission the most self-indulgent big titty porn ever. :P

So I'm on Pillowfort now
Posted 5 years agohttps://www.pillowfort.social/ZaranTalaz
So, funny story: I was originally just posting my art on Twitter. Then I created my FA account as a backup. Except it's on FA where my art actually gets noticed. Go figure.
Anyway I also set up a Pillowfort account. Pillowfort is like Tumblr but with certain features like built-in filtering and privacy controls, user communities, and being able to write comments under a post instead of Tumblr's weird reblog system. Oh, and it allows porn.
Pillowfort is still in beta so there's few people on it, so I'm going to keep my Twitter around for the foreseeable future even though I kind of hate Twitter as a platform (plus all my favourite Japanese artists are still on it). Normally you have to pay for an account, but it also gives you invite codes for your friends and I got my account through an invite code exchange program.

Rambly venting
Posted 5 years agoI originally didn't want this profile to be negative. But we're in the middle of a global pandemic so whatever.
Last February I got laid off from my job. I've been having a pretty terrible time finding a new job, and the pandemic has made it worse. In fact an application to this one company was going really well, but then they told me they weren't going to hire anyone during the pandemic. So yeah, I'm not in the greatest of spirits.
On top of the actual serious consequences of not having a job, I can't justify buying any commissions now just as I was getting used to the concept. Which would have probably been another Grace the priestess pic again. Which feels slightly weird since it's not like she's my OC. Though all my furry interests besides Grace are, like, mainstream stuff like Renamon where I don't have to pay for any commissions because enough art is publicly available already. Then again there's this one guy on Twitter that's funding half the world's supply of quality Isabelle from Animal Crossing fanart, so I guess Grace commissions could be my thing?
(On the subject of commissions, special shout out to
folk-dude-philip,
skulkers, and
pkuai. Also to
cullsoft for the Grace promotion.)

Posted 6 years agoLearned that I can actually upload images with resolutions higher than 1280x1280.
Before I was making my art at higher resolutions then downscaling. Now I've just replaced all my art with the higher quality original versions. Good thing it was only eight pictures.
Hope this doesn't screw up people's favourites.

I'm new
Posted 6 years agoI'm new at getting commissions. Anyone know what artists to talk to if I want a possibly adult rendering of a character from a twenty one year old Sega Saturn game?
