I always figured that furries, the way none of them is ever paired up with another member of their own species, would die out as a species pretty damn quickly.

Seems to me that they'd more likely all be one species, just with different mutations or breeds, like a dog. Breed two of the same, and the offspring will be rather samey. Breed two different variants, and you'll get something new.

Also, because they're all one species, this means that it wasn't a whole "world" that evolved, but just that one species. Prey animals would still exist, which takes away the whole issue of carnivorous critters being forced into a vegetarian lifestyle lest they become cannibals.


This is how I justify everything. Just sayin'.

After I'd gone to bed, there was a knock at the door, so I got up to answer it, and Zachary Quinto* was standing outside with the maintenance guy. After they went away, I went back to bed and had a really strange dream. There was some mysterious rich fella called Zed doing dark deeds in the background, while specials were all of a sudden dropping like flies. Sylar and some hillbilly-looking guy were investigating this, which led them to the building where I lived (which wasn't there building where I actually live. I don't even know which city I was in, but it wasn't Vegas). I was a special with some weird ability that I can't remember, and I thought that they were after ME, on account of also being called Zed. At the end, a friend and I went to this little diner, where we began planning on skipping town, when Sylar came in and sat at a table where the hillbilly guy was. They started talking really loudly about all the goings on, and eventually scared me into telling them that while I'm called Zed, I wasn't the Zed they were looking for. Somewhere along all this, my friend went away, and I got corralled into helping Sylar find the other Zed.

That's about when I woke up.


*He was not, in fact Zach Quinto, but hot damn, he looked so much like him that I honestly thought he was. And then he started talking, and I realised that I was being an idiot that needed to go back to sleep.

So, I'm kicking back, watching Peep Show, and a promo airs. For Star Trek: TNG.

I thought it was weird enough that BBCA played Star Trek: Generations the other night, but now this?

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy Star Trek very much. Hell, look at my profile ID. But I subscribe to BBCA because I want to see British programming. I can handle the shameless editing that goes into shows like Top Gear and Doctor Who, but why the hell are they playing Star Trek, instead of putting shows like QI and Casualty on the air? I can watch Star Trek on one of the many American channels I have and never watch because they all air the same four shows.

I've had it for a while, and just never did anything with it.

More rows for the "most recent" artworks. When did that happen? O_o

Yesterday, whilst talking with an art school friend, I was educated about something called Ligne Claire. If, like me, you never took any art classes in school, it's basically a flat-colour technique that was created by the bloke that drew the old Tin Tin comics.

My friend was helping me out with something I was doodling, and she was under the impression that it was a style I was intentionally going for. After talking with her about this at length, and looking at some other pieces done in this style, it's something that I sort of want to start playing around with. So, expect to see a lot of flat colour pieces from me for a while. I sort of want to play around with this, and it's also an excuse to work on more detailed backgrounds.

Out of curiosity, has anybody got any older/middle-aged characters out there? Most of the characters I tend to see out there are teenagers/20-somethings, it seems.

I noticed today that for some reason, my digital colouring of Nicholas does not match his traditional colour scheme at all. His digital scheme is very orange and very bright, whereas his traditional scheme is more muted and brown.

I'm considering changing his digital scheme to match, since it's easier to change a digital pallet than it is a tradition one (in my experience).

So far, I've gotten two suggestions that seem to stand out. The first one was quite popular: an Ethiopian Wolf. I like this idea, but part of me worries that she'd either be mistaken for a red fox still, or that she'd resemble my Basenji, but with a bushy tail.

The second one, and I have to admit to really liking this one, is to go with the silver fox idea, and give her grey hair. Older furs don't seem too common, and I'm pretty positive that I could do something with a sexy older lady character. Of course, I worry that she might not be as well-received as I'd like to hope.

Ideas?

So, I've got an old female fox character called Claudia that I've been thinking about bringing back into rotation. I am, however, considering changing her markings. As it is right now, she's your run of the mill red fox (and not even particularly on-model), but I've been thinking of changing her up a bit.

Firstly, because red foxes are stupidly popular, and secondly, for some reason, I prove this by having THREE red fox characters as it is.

I probably want to keep her still a fox, but I'm not sure which sort. I'm leaning heavily on silver fox, because you hardly ever see those, but I'm not sure.

What do people want to see? Even if not a fox, but even canine or canine-like. Throw things out at me. :D

So, I'm in the kitchen, doing the dishes like a good little housewife. I'm minding my own business when the biggest, baddest carving knife in the house slips from my hand.

Three guesses where it landed. Really, you probably won't even need the first two. :-|
