Model photos
Posted 2 years agoHi folks, just wanted to say I'm really happy to see that all my Gundam/robot model photos have been getting a positive response!
However, I do plan to eventually move them into scraps, as I realize that seeing a ton of anime robot pictures in the middle of a furry art gallery is a bit awkward, and that most people aren't as interested in those as I am. :p

Gundam model kit photos: any interest?
Posted 4 years agoSo, this is a thing I've been wondering about for a while...would anyone be interested in seeing photos of my Gundam models? Gunpla is my main hobby, and I have seen some other people posting pics of them on here...it's just a big change from my usual content.
a loss
Posted 5 years agothis journal is incredibly hard to write.
I was cuddling with my guinea pigs at around 10 PM on the 7th when I noticed that one of them, Peanut, had a large, hard lump on her left side. Naturally I was very worried, I thought something might be wrong with her stomach, she might've had some kind of gastrointestinal bloating, which can be a very serious condition for guinea pigs.
First thing the next day I got her into the vet. The doctor barely needed to look at her to know it wasn't bloating, it was some kind of tumor. I was stunned... I couldn't believe I had missed something so large and obvious, but I had. What had started out as a medical emergency that I felt confident I could deal with suddenly became something I was totally unprepared for. The doctor told me that anesthesia is risky for guinea pigs, and even if it wasn't, as a person living on disability, I knew I wouldn't be able to afford it. There was only one option.
I've had guinea pigs for a very long time, and losing one is always heartbreaking, but this time it was different. I'd never had to have one put to sleep. For a while I just held her and cried, trying to give her as much love as I could before she had to go, hoping that I'd somehow wake up, that it was all just a nightmare.
I can't put into words how much I miss my little monster right now. I keep looking over at their cage expecting to see her there, but all I see is one lonely-looking guinea pig. I've been trying to give Bramble as much attention as I possibly can.
To all my friends, please understand I'm probably not going to be too chatty for a while.

Custom furry skins in Second Life
Posted 9 years agoHey folks, so at long last I've decided to update my avatar in Second Life and make the move to mesh. I've bought one of the Niramyth Aesthetic bodies, and gotten it all sized and such, now it just needs a skin. Does anyone out there know who does good custom skins?
Second Life: new friends and new places
Posted 10 years agoHey folks! As you may or may not know, I use SL all the time. Most of the time I just hang out with Rys at our home, and while there's nothing wrong with that, lately I've been feeling the urge to branch out a bit.
Anyone interested in hanging out with me and Rys? Maybe sharing some of your favorite secluded spots?

RF 2014
Posted 11 years agoThe one word I'd use to describe my first furry con experience would be...interesting.
I used to be the sort of guy who'd say 'I'd never be caught dead at a furry convention,' for a variety of reasons. For one, I'm not really the sort of person whose identity is really tied up in furry. Another would be how my interest in it has remained pretty much exclusively online, and I've never really had any real urge to have it cross over into my offline life. Lastly, and probably most importantly, I suffer from something I've coined 'Secondhand Embarrassment.' What that means is that I feel shame for people who should be feeling shame, but for whatever reason, they aren't. I can't even watch documentaries about furries without cringing like crazy. Despite all that, as time has passed I've found myself thinking that I might just want to go to one someday.
Anyway, after
ryskhyrsal attended last year and had a good time, I decided that I'd join him... hence this journal. I should note that this was not only my first furry con, but it was also my first con, period, so I imagine a lot of my observations apply to nerd conventions in general. Also, I hope I don't come off as overly negative, because I really did have a good time overall.
- I realize this is probably a problem that's not really exclusive to furry cons, but it needs to be said anyway. Is it really that hard for people to bathe and use deodorant? Evidently yes, considering how often I'd be walking around and suddenly find myself in a cloud of stink. The worst, by far, was walking into the Art Jam room on the last day and feeling the humidity change from the horrible fug. Yes, I get that when you get a lot of people in one place it gets kind of warm, and people are going to get sweaty, but typically when people get sweaty, they take a shower, or they put on a fresh change of clothes. Is that really too much to ask? If it is, can we get people on staff to carry around cans of Febreze?
- Oh my God SO MANY BABYFURS. So many grown men in overalls and onesies. So many *crinkle* tags. So many badges with diapers in them. Is that a normal furry con thing, or is Seattle some sort of babyfur Mecca?
- I think that if I do decide to go to RF again, I need to spend some time getting to know more local people, because there's really only so much people-watching you can do before you start to get really bored and lonely. Thankfully Rys and I did manage to meet someone who essentially saved the whole experience for us. If we hadn't, we would have probably both gone home pretty disappointed with the whole thing. Also, I'd need to put a bit more thought into scheduling things. The few panels and events I did want to get to, I missed. It wasn't a dealbreaker or anything, but it would have been nice.
- One of the high points of the trip was completely unrelated to the con. Seattle has this amazing Asian market with a bookstore and food court attached I love to visit whenever I go down there. Taking a little field trip to Normal Person World was a breath of fresh air, both metaphorically and literally.
Now, for a few shoutouts.
First and foremost,
ryskhyrsal, thank you for protecting me from all the furries. In all seriousness, none of this would have been possible without you. <3
yasano, dude, you are amazingly cool and fucking hilarious. Thank you so much for taking the time to hang out with us.
spuz, I just wish I'd been able to say goodbye in person. Your fursuit is adorable!
daitenshi, it was awesome getting to meet you! I just wish we could have hung out a bit more.
Thanks to
cooner and
gideon for the awesome badge and sketch!

My first con, my first conbadge
Posted 11 years agoSo, as you might guess from the title there, I'm gonna be going to my first con soon! Specifically, Rainfurrest.
I've been keeping an eye out for people open for badge commissions, but so far I haven't seen too many. Any of you good people out there know anyone who's open for them?

Hey. Hey furries. Quit using my commissions.
Posted 11 years agoSo, my favorite podcast did an episode all about F-list. You know, that place where people make profiles for their characters with huge lists of all the weird-ass stuff they're into. It occurred to me that I had never really looked around on there to see if people were using my commissions in their profiles, so I decided to take a look. After all, it had happened before, though it was mostly just a misunderstanding. How many people could be using it, after all?
The first goddamn profile I clicked on, that's how long it took to find someone stealing my stuff.
Seriously? Is it really so hard to commission your own art? Did it ever occur to you that maybe the people you're stealing from don't want their characters associated with your horrible stupid fetishes? I can tell you it's not exactly fun to see a picture of Zeis with 'LIVING TOILET' listed in the 'FAVORITE' column on your list.
Living toilet. Jesus Christ.

I made a Weasyl account.
Posted 12 years agoThere's nothing there yet, but here it is anyway: https://www.weasyl.com/~zeis
As for FA, I'm awfully attached to the place. I've met a lot of cool people and gotten a lot of awesome art because of it, and despite all of the shitty technical issues and administrative incompetence, at least it was good for schadenfreude.
But now, it's not so fun anymore. There's been so many horrible people with horrible opinions saying so many horrible things, and some of the worst of it has come straight from Dragoneer's mouth.
Everything feels different now, in all the wrong ways.

Second Life avatar custom work

He's wanted a new avatar for years now, and I'm just trying to get the word out a bit. If any of you folks know who might be able to make one for him, please let him/me know.

The F Plus - The Furry Episode
Posted 13 years agoThe F Plus is a very funny podcast where a bunch of people read stupid, bizarre, awful things from a variety of places the internet in silly voices. A few months ago, they held a contest where people submitted content for them to read, and if it was selected, they got to be a guest reader for the episode based off what they submitted.
I entered by submitting a bunch of awful profiles off Pounced.org, which, if you don't know, is a furry personals site (they're about as awful as you would expect). I didn't win the contest, but they did like what I submitted, so I got to be a guest reader in the episode intro.
If you really wanna hear what I sound like, or just laugh at horrible furry dating profiles, here's where you should go!

As a bonus, here's an episode about a bunch of dragons who want to start their own country.

Rob LOLfeld
Posted 13 years agoFor those who aren't aware, Rob Liefeld was one of the most popular comic book artists of the 1990s. He became a millionaire drawing stuff like...well...

See for yourselves. Something they don't mention are the horrible O-shaped blow-up doll mouths his characters seem to get.

trip report!
Posted 15 years agoWell, I've been home for three days now, and I figure it's about time I talked about it, so here goes.
Of all the visits Rys and I have ever had, this one was by far the best! We had so much fun together, I can barely even begin to express it.
Here's a list of the high points (of which there were many)
- Saw all sorts of interesting birds, including several of the native, endangered Hawaiian ones. I had seen a few of them before on previous trips, but this time I saw two new ones, the i'iwi and the Maui alauahio. I was absolutely thrilled to get to see them!
Here's a couple pictures of them...
http://www.hawaii-forest.com/_img/n.....iwiw-sized.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3374.....da39e5e0_o.jpg
- Went to a Japanese festival with Rys, which was fun. They had all sorts of food, arts, and crafts, as well as taiko drummers. One group of them was made up entirely of kids, which I thought was pretty neat.
- Got lots of alone time with my lion. <3
Ten days wasn't enough...
