General | Posted 13 years agoIs this relevant to National Coming Out Day? I dunno. I'm late anyway, so whatever.
I take psychiatric drugs for panic disorder. I have for the last eight years. They helped me change my life from the living hell it very, very abruptly became to something close to normal.
No, they don't make me "emotionally numb." No, they don't make it difficult for me to concentrate. No, I didn't just grab them for a "quick fix" because I was too afraid to deal with underlying issues.
SSRIs are not for everyone, and I do believe they are overprescribed. And like any drug, they have risks and benefits that must be weighed and understood. But they saved my life. If anyone, for some ungodly reason, has a problem with that, I respectfully ask you keep it to yourself.
You may now return to your regularly scheduled furry art. ^^

I lost my kitty today...
General | Posted 13 years agoI just got the news that my kitty Milo (the orange one in this picture: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/301655/), who hadn't been feeling well the past few days, had advanced lymphoma. His prognosis was very poor, and he's been put to sleep. He was 3000 miles away; I wasn't able to say goodbye. >.<

I don't really have many "heroes", not even when it comes to writing, but I'd still say he was one of them. If nothing else, he was the first short story author that I read, and short stories have always been one of my favorite forms. Everybody should read "All Summer in a Day" and "A Sound of Thunder" (the story that inspired the term "the butterfly effect," although Edward Lorenz officially coined that phrase).
Still, he lived until he was 91. As far as years on this Earth, you can't complain about that.
Requiescat in pace.

It's been going a bit downhill ever since the original team stopped making new games (though Shattered Memories was awesome), but now Silent Hill is officially dead.

How I didn't lose The Game

General | Posted 17 years agoJust what is it about this site that seems to compel so many artists to impulsively delete their entire gallery and "leave the fandom forever" without another word?
It's incredibly dramatic and probably unwarranted 90% of the time. What I find even more irritating is how rarely these departures last. More than half the time, it seems so little thought was put into them that a month later, the artist returns, and you get a flood of old art being reuploaded (assuming you didn't unwatch them in the first place). They'll probably end up doing it again later on, too.
So many people seem to try to resolve their problems with big, sweeping dramatic gestures that in the end, they didn't even really want to do. It seems like just a cry for attention some of the time.
I don't know, it's just frustrating. Can we try not to do that anymore? (Hope springs eternal...)

But I'm not the kind of person who laughs when someone falls down, even if they fell trying to trip someone else. Am I the only one?

General | Posted 18 years agoI hear a whole lot of artists say this, and I really wonder... what do they think it really means? If it isn't a person who draws anthropomorphic art (pornographic or otherwise) then I don't know what it is.
Do they think a "furry" is only someone who dresses up in costumes, or only someone who is strictly sexually attracted to anthros, or goes to cons, or considers themselves animals in people's bodies, or what?
I don't do/am not any of those things, nor am I able to draw furry art, but I consider myself a furry, just because I think it's a cute and easy way to tell someone I'm interested in anthropomorphic art and animals. A whole lot of these artists, who somewhat inconsequentially tell everyone they aren't furries, do a /lot/ more "furry" stuff than I do. I suppose they're just trying to separate themselves from all the critical or pejorative things said about furries, in particular the word "furry" itself, but just saying "I'm not a furry" doesn't change the things you actually do.
Exactly what attribute do so many artists think "furries" have that they themselves do not?
