Happy '08!
General | Posted 18 years agoI'm so original for posting this. XD
Seems like a lot of people had a crappy year in 2007. Hope you all have a better one come January. It'll be longer than usual; I understand we've got a leap year!

Art Theft?
General | Posted 18 years agoArt theft.
I hear this phrase quite a lot. But something about it confuses me. 90% of the time, artists use it to refer to their art being reposted somewhere, with them being credited as the artist. I completely fail to understand why this sort of thing is always referred to as "art theft"... I mean, don't get me wrong, it's extremely disrespectful, and I can relate. Imagining my writings being posted God-knows-where without my permission makes me extremely uncomfortable. But... when nobody's claiming credit for your work or posting anything you'd intended to sell, or even taking away hits from a site that you get advertising revenue from, what does reposting without permission have to do with "theft?"
I'm not just trying to point fingers or make a statement here, either, I truly wonder if there's something I'm missing, as I hear this from artists a lot.
I know I don't have many watchers, but can any of them explain this to me?
