Long time not see. This year has been the messiest possible.
I broke up my 9 years old relationship.
For 4 months both of us were destroyed, him more than me, because I was the one that broke up and felt liberated to enjoy my sexuality.
But now, we're both happily dating two great girls and enjoying life.
I'm trying to come back and opening commissions, they are extremely cheap, mainly because those drawings were going to be done either way, as I'm practicing with watercolors.

I didn't think my teaching job would take so many hours from my life. Classes finished 5th December, but as I'm too good for my own good I ended up grading portfolios till that same day. And that is a rollercoaster of emotions to me, anger, angst, happiness and worry. Parents trying to make me pass their children because "They won't be able to go to the end of year trip if they fail a course" . Making souvenirs for 250+ students, going to teachers meetings to decide who passes and who doesn't (I won second prize at most failing students, even when I gave them a lot of extra chances to pass. I dont like that)
End of year act, having to act as is expected from me, making the kids shut up and be respectful of things like the national anthem and church stuff (I work in a catholic school).
Those were the stressing parts, there were other parts that were good though. I had a boy with whom I got into a fight almost every class, in his words "We played "Who yells harder"". He came the last day when I was overwhelmed with the souvenirs making at 9am and helped me till 4pm went to his house to eat and take a bath and returned at 6pm to keep on helping me. I couldnt believe it, and he told me he didn't hate me as much now that I wasn't an authority figure to him, that was one of my biggest achievements this year. Had a lot of fun with the younger classes and their end of the year projects were amazing.
I still have a lot to learn, but this year I learnt a lot from my students and I hope next year I will learn even more. I learnt how to speak to them, how to be friendly but not becoming one of them, how to avoid critizing other teachers when they complained to me about them and a lot of other things. I didn't teach all the contents I should have taught, that's something to improve next year.
House:
As the classes madness finished we received a message saying we had to clean up the lawn of the house we're building because there was an inspection coming. That was a lot of work, as the lawn was filled with bricks and cement rests along with wood pieces and iron stuff. We also set some steps for walking.
We already have electricity and water (it got installed on saturday) and the only thing stopping the move is the sewage system that needs to be finished, but we're hoping it to be finished this january. And we'll be able to move at last!
Art:
This part is hard, fear of failure had me stop drawing almost completely for two weeks, I'm slowly getting back in the drawing mood.
I learnt a lot of two point perspective this year, I just need some more practice to apply it to organic stuff.
Been studying old masters and their erotic works, head on to
zhu~ to check on those.
I will slowly start replying to notes (I know I have a few from quite a long ago).
It's good to be back!

Posted 11 years agoI made some mistakes in my life, but this one gets a big prize.
I bullied someone, just because I thought I was right. And I know it hurt her. This was a long time ago (more than 6 years, if I remember correctly) and since then I grew as a person.
I sent a note to this person asking for forgiveness, but I also know she has a little boy with autism and that she needs all of the help possible to get him the help he needs.
I hope everything goes better for her, and I wish her a lot of luck in her life.

So don't give up. Don't hate what you see.
You are nothing like that artist you admire because you are your own artist, and you must learn your own path to greatness.

Similarly to how some of us are either "I'M FUCKING GORGEOUS" or "OH MY FUCK HIDE ME HIDE ME I'M THE DEFINITION OF UGLY!", art is funny in working similarly. It's a vanity thing. Everyone has their idea of "perfect" and they want to attain it. (though it's impossible)
A LOT of people struggle to see what their own is worth because they're so fixated on what OTHER'S is worth, that they forget they have talent too.
Always keep your chin up, and your mind open. Art is subjective. It's work from your mind. Be proud of it. <3

what about turning it around and using their work as PROOF that one person behind a computer screen can do amazing beautiful things by themself? use that as evidence that it's possible to get that good.

I'm hopeless at sculpting and sewing - doesn't mean I'll never get good at it though uvu

like there is no such thing as practising enough in art
there's no such thing as an artist who is perfect and unsurpassable
people please stop setting your goals relative to other people
aim to improve relative to how good you were yesterday, or last year
pick up new media, or a new art program, or a new style
start drawing different animals or objects or scenery
if you don't like how you're drawing what you specialise in, go back to basics and be a newbie at something totally different. that way you don't have the expectations like 'oh I've been drawing dogs for so many years and I'm still no good'. because you're a newbie and you're ALLOWED to be terrible! then you can draw something new and be like 'welll it's ok but it's good to say I've barely ever drawn like this before!'
and it still counts as drawing practise.
so go do some life drawing, pixel art, stick figure animation, stippling, tattoo design caricatures, anime art, 3D rendering, sculpting or impressionism
and once you do eventually go back to your speciality, you'll probably have improved without even knowing it!

UPDATE 16/6/14 - Sketches to be done on thursday
Posted 11 years agoWell, last monday I couldn't draw as much as I wanted because I had messed up some paperwork and had to rush to my job to fix it... I did draw two of the sketches, though. (Will upload those later)
After a heavy working week (worked for around 12 hours on thursday and friday), I found myself with a pretty big school backlog, so the weekend I pushed into that. Got the hardest part done, but I have to finish the tedious part (inking), and that'll probably take me the whole day. I have to present this project today.
So, what I'm trying to say is, could my commissionners wait till thursday? I get a two days vacation (a festive day and an extra day) and I´ll for sure be able to draw those days.

Sketch commissions (MAIN JOURNAL)
Posted 11 years agoIt was getting too disorganized, so, I've decided to make a new and organized journal.
Sketch commissions are done every monday and generally posted on tuesdays (as I have to go to classes on monday evening and don't have time to scan/edit the pics).
They can range from a half body to a knees up drawing, depending on the pose I pick and how much the character inspires me. They were intended to be busts, but I prefer showing a little more body language. As they are between half and full body I will charge $5 for them from monday 16th.
Some considerations I hadn't thought of before.
- Visual refs preferred. (If I have to draw from a text description, I'm also designing and therefore it will take the time of 2 slots, meaning you'll have to pay double)
- Characters with extra limbs or feral parts will cost more (up to the price of a second slot) as it takes longer for me to draw those as well.
- Wings: Characters with wings can choose to have them chibified or cutting at the edge of the pic with no additional charge OR pay for a second slot and have the wings drawn fully.
- As they are sketches, they are as is, meaning no changes will be made.

When it rains... [PLEASE HELP]

We're in a financial mess, we owe a lot of money (for us at least, around 2000) and that could cost us the house we're building (We are hoping this won't happen soon, but we're scared as hell).
We were doing small payments of 200, but these past few months we couldn't pay. In july we get paid some extra money at our jobs (around 500 USD between the two of us) and that'll go totally to cover this debt we have. Unfortunately, the debt holders don't want to wait till that time, and are pressing us to get the money.
We're cutting down on expenses, but we feel we can't do it without help, so we're swallowing our pride and asking you for help, be it donations or commissions.

Posted 11 years agoI got everything settled out, money is not a problem (luckily) and wont trust anyone that comes to my door anymore. I guess it's the country life that made me lower the guard. Either way, I'm fine, and if I see the guys around here again I'm calling the police.
I'm still processing the stress and angst, but doing quite better. kylfu was awesome with me and as we had to go working in our house I got distracted. My mother in law came to visit and helped us with house cleaning, so we didn't have to do it, she's lovely when she wants. We went to some friend's house (that live in the same town) and watched creepshow, we spent a good evening there.
I had some nightmares on saturday night, but none yesterday, so I'm healing a lot faster than I thought.
I will probably delete the other journal later, thanks everyone for your support.

Posted 11 years agoI'm really sorry for dissappearing. Classes have started and even though I'm happy and love the teaching job, it's exhausting. I got a total of 20/week, which is a lot for a teacher.
At the same time, Kylfu and I are finishing the last details on our house, and therefore we don't have even the weekends free. I will try to get back at you as soon as I can. I hadn't forgotten anything I have to do.
As for the rant, today I got robbed/scammed around 100 USD, by someone that came asking to mow the land for a job and saying he would put some "product" to take the weeds off. This "product" costed 90 USD... I got scared as they were 2 big men and I was alone and I paid them... And I'm now totally regretting it. He gave me a cell number and a name, but the cell is turned off and I dunno if that's his true name.
That's what happen when you trust people. I'm so angry and also a little scared because a scammer like that entered an old couple's house (they let him in) and took all their money. I wish I would have realized before who this guy was.
Sorry for the rant, I had to take it off my chest as I feel too stupid for trusting someone like him.

I got a teaching job, 9 groups, ranging from 1st to 4th years of highschool. I will be working around 17-19 hours a week.
I'm so excited!!! Finally kylfu and I will be able to get out of debt and have a good life (as in, beign able to buy clothes, furniture, etc) and not just live on an extremely tight budget.
EEEEEEE!!!!
I'm sooo happy!!!!
Oh, and the place where I get to work is wonderful and they made me feel like home (and I was a sack of nerves). Can't wait till I see the kids!

Sorry for dissappearing (Explanation)
Posted 11 years agoThe last week of the month is always hard for me. This month was worse.
As you may know, kylfu (My boyfriend) got a new job, an illustration one and I'm very happy for him.
Routine changed and was adjusted to the work schedule, and I decided to take care of the house (cleaning and cooking) by myself as I don't have a job. So far so good...
Thing is, we have had a freelance job of doing coloring book illustrations for the last 2 years, that was started by him and some time after I joined in drawing and inking.
We would always ink what the other drew, as our styles are quite different and that gave the illustrations some sort of unity...
This month though, I decided I would do these by myself so he could focus on his owed commissions. And I did it, the 30 coloring book illustrations, drawn and inked by myself.
Now, you know (or at least notice in my gallery) that I prefer realism over cartoon, and these images had to be totally cartoon.
I suck at doing cartoon, and kylfu is awesome at it. I didn't like anything I did, and started stressing out about the client not liking the pictures and worried as we need the money. It took kylfu quite a lot of effort one night to help me gain confidence in my cartoon skills.
Now I think they could look better, but they aren't awful.
In between all this stuff, I hadn't been able to draw anything else, as when I get on that mood I hate everything I draw. The silly kitty comic was an attempt to break the mood and it worked.
I have one of the YCH lined and will line the other right away, and I will start replying to comments and thanking for watches and favs.
