React videos, should they go away?
Posted 10 years agoI'm not going to act like i know when they first started appearing, but in my experience they got
big around mlp, and in recent history especially they started to react to vine videos or top 10 lists.
I am a big fan of these videos but i can see why there's hate for them, people spend alot of time
making these videos and all you have to do as a reacter is set up a facecam (sometimes not
even that) and do commentary. The reason people dislike them (besides the lack of effort to
get equal or more views than the video they are watching) is how some barely say anything,
a user name jinx is definitely in this list for saying very little and currently has 1,393,027 subs
for just his brief giggles and skipped over outro speeches.
I do however feel some do more for entertainment, say more, do more and in some cases raise
awareness to videos people may not have seen before. I always saw react videos as more of a laugh
track, or similar to the Mystery Science Theater 5000 commentary sketch. Let's be fair and admit that
most who view Game Grumps are there for the commentary and not the gameplay, some state
that it would be better if they did regular podcasts which i fully agree on. I would say they should also
do react videos but there is too many out there already. I think that the reason Mlp is so popular (or was
popular for these videos) was because, as i said in my previous journal, men (and maybe some women)
feel awkward watching the show alone, either because you're an adult watching a kids show or just a guy
thing.
A laugh track in sitcoms was not there to direct you on when you should laugh, it was there to comfort you,
especially if a joke or skit might be too risque or dark to laugh about, it gives you a sense of sameness
when you're not the only one giggling immaturely or inappropriately. It may not invalidate those jokes to
be dark or immature but in the end what's important is being comfortable in laughing at what attacks your
funny bone without feeling like an outcast with a weird sense of humor. Reacting to scary videos helps
your confidence, reacting to mlp is similar to holding your hand when you feel you should close the tab and
reacting to tv shows is more a of a friendly hangout (which is sorta sad given they aren't actually beside you).
As long as they are interesting people that aim to keep you entertained and give you food for thought, i think
these videos have as much right to be online as any other. An example of an alright reacter is raritydash and someone who i find hilarious is BlastphamousHD, especially in ghost videos.
(i use the word especially alot, ugh, my write block is showing)

My understanding of bronies

I talk to myself, alot, and from time to time i see a comment or it's just a passing thought train that involved this subject, i, in no way despise or dislike bronies, i do however find these people confusing/interesting to think about.
This is how i see it, don't bother correcting me by saying i got it all wrong, i probably am waaay off base with this and I'm not implying what i say is fact (although i tend to sound matter-of-fact-ly at times) I prefer to say stuff like this without writing it down and i just end up repeating myself and it's getting obnoxious, and writing it on some notepad on my desktop would either be deleted, forgotten or lost, forcing me to write it all over again.
Reply if you want, i don't care either way, just throwing it out there so i don't sound like a broken record to myself. Opinions are meant to be chucked into the wind anyway, otherwise it's pointless oxygen I'm wasting.
I think the reason men use brony as a 'title' is to empower their masculinity, feeling the need to
call themselves a 'bro' in some way so that they remain manly. The word brony was first created
as a joke on 4chan but for whatever reason people inherited the word as a serious group name,
it's a word useless to women but for men is a badge of honour, able to sit through a girly show while
keeping their manhood intact. while the reboot is meant for everyone, those who grow up in the 90s
(reason why they are in the 20 age range) have this instinct to feel cringy while watching a show
called 'my little pony' similar to 'barbie' or 'sailor moon', because their upbringing taught them what
a boy show was and what a girl show was. With most heterosexual parents wanting their children
to stay as straight as an arrow from birth, we grew this itch that told us that we are meant to be
embarassed or feel wrong by doing/watching certain things.
Wearing pink clothes, buying dress up dolls, these were unheard of for boys to do, why did
this change? well we're in the age to prove something, given how the internet not only wants to
point out our flaws and stroke their own fragile ego, but to treat their opinions like they were
written by einstein and view others as garbage to further stregthen their superiority complex.
I feel some men felt the need to break the stereotype, let everyone know how metro they are, because
lets face it, mlp isn't any more epic than steven universe, avatar, gravity falls or even pokemon.
Celesister never caught on because their pride as women would not be crushed because any casual viewer
that spot screenshots, clips and adverts would immediately assume it was for girls anyway (history with name,
mostly girl characters and rainbow colors)
I think that If mlp was called something else, had different creatures but the same adventures, no new word like brony would exist. there was no trending grouping names with the other shows mentioned, why is that? i am honestly asking because i don't see why they are seem below the towering pedestal that mlp has. Their merits in script, humor, animation and messages are just as strong (sometimes stronger) than mlp and although steven uni is pretty big in some places, i don't see his images appearing in nearly every search of anything irrelevant to the show pop up compared to the limitless pony OCs sneaking in.

Posted 14 years agoI've been wondering, since you can post fics here as well, can i post stuff that isn't furry? like there isn't many sites to post fics on without reviewers or weird rules of what it should have and what it can't, im currently making one about velma from scooby doo with scooby and shaggy, but since one, its beastiality and two it has a human in it, im unsure which site it can go to....its not that i want feedback tho a lil positive word or two won't hurt i guess, i just like writing sometimes and its better to post it somewhere in case my computer gets a virus etc or worse.

Posted 14 years agoThis is probably the dark weather im getting so most of this i mostly will forget tomorrow so then why type anything? well...erm...i haven't written a journal in a while?
Anyway its mostly my overall feelings, its really nothing to do with this site nor my drawings...well a little, before you wonder, no, im not gonna say all this and expect loads of people to console me or pity me, im just saying what's on my mind right now, think of yourselves as quiet psychologists, tho comment if you really want to.
For months now, probably longer i've been feeling tired, im not really sleepy tired but more of a constant fatigue which is probably why i can't go to college or get a job even if i wanted to, its a fear of collapsing suddenly without knowing, i think i did a few years ago without knowing, i closed my eyes when walking down my main street and opened them and i was in bed, probably a dream but still this lack of energy is probably my lack of vitamins, im not exactly a healthy eater but i do eat the occasional vegetable.
i not only draw but write fics from time to time, mostly lemons, but after a harsh review on a site i posted it on it did a major blow to my self-confidence as a writer and as a person, see i think Britain has a little less education than america, we don't even have algebra, tho some say its just something you learn like french and would rarely use it, it still tells me that most of my skype friends are higher educated which is most likely the reason i don't talk much on it anymore, just talking to them makes me feel stupid, not cuz they are but i feel slow compared to them. i also had to deal with the fact that im autistic, just the term "special needs" pisses me off cuz of one word "special", i hate being treated differently cuz im a freakin' idiot, i know i have to accept the fact i learn slower than others but i only accepted it before cuz i never needed to talk to the rest of the class, as in an actual intelligent conversation, i now have had quite a few on skype and i realize how below i am when it comes to intelligence as well as maturity.
The world feels so far without me and it feels impossible to catch up, everyone else seems to have finished and gone home while i can't even finish in last because the finish line no longer exists, back to the fics, i've had several reviews, they got better as i did but its just...i forgot the reason why i wrote them in the first place, i draw cuz i enjoy it and it shows since i draw more than write but even drawing is lacking, i feel brainless everytime i open up sai, same with writing but that's worse cuz the problem is thinking too hard, "what if they think the wording is terrible? capslock at the start of every conversion, the best grammar i can do, lengthy plot" in the end i don't enjoy it and feel empty inside the second i post it because i stress over something that needed none.
i shared ideas on plots to a friend and his overall reactions were "i think you're adding too much, i don't understand the other one" etc etc so its obvious im getting worse not better and i don't know to GET better, energy drinks? yeah it'll last 5 minutes before my fatigue kicks in U.U jerking off to porn 3 times a day also doesn't help my hormones since it never has enough time to recover, also this friend is a hell of a lot better than me and im starting to think i have a bit of hidden hate because of this, not really towards him but the fact he is more taught than me, i even tried persuading my maths teacher to teach me prime or perfect numbers just so my intellect grows but in the end never happened, i wish i did an english major but i doubt i would be awake/energized enough to stay awake in the first class.

what have i been doing?
Posted 14 years agoWell i'm been messing around with my new paint program SAI, my previous art was drawn on ms paint so i decided to upgrade, since SAI is hard to learn (at least for me) i haven't completed anything yet since i've been practising layers, colours and the curvy lines, tho i will post something soon, a griffin of all things, my friends say its a lot of improvement from my last drawing and they are usually right in this area, i never like hyping things up but i hate to say nothing and make it look like im dead and suddenly post.
why am i brain dead? T-T

for the past week or so i have not got into hentai, i've loved it since i was 12 but for some reason its like...lost its spark, i don't know but writing fiction (if i haven't mentioned i write fics) has been lost, i haven't written/finished any stories for months, even looking at hentai for inspiration doesn't work, am i bored of hentai? i don't know, i guess i can take a week or so off but everytime i try to get a break it never works out U.U i wanna garden for a week, since im in the uk it'll be lucky if i get to do it without it raining every other day.
motivation and inspiration is connected and unless i get either from somewhere im lost, i want to write more, like for instance im in the middle of writing a renamon fic, well more like i started it and i haven't touched it in months, i tried starting new stories and they don't work either, being bored of porn is no fun, force fapping is just sad T.T

erm...
Posted 15 years agoim tired of being bored, i really am, im not in the mood to draw most of the time, i have a drawing on the way, took me 3 days to draw the heads, not that its overaly awesome or cool or hard to draw, i just get distracted alot, and by a lot i mean not at all, im bored stiff and not in the mood to eat or drink sometimes, its like beyong boredom, i need to start drinking hot chocolate or something to get my energy back, or coffee, which never helped in the past but whatevs, also i hate stress so please no begging or "whens the next pic" cuz i'll do it even slower since i can't handle pressure, just for futureu reference.
mom is out the hospital
Posted 15 years agodid i miss her? i don't know, if she was in for a month then i'll miss her, but a week went quick, it didn't distract me from drawing, i just don't draw much, rarely in the mood, but i know one thing for sure, this place is better than DA ^^

Posted 15 years agoNo offense, but... There are some people who are getting too fake on FA. They only want posts, comments, or to see how many friends they can get. So let's see who will actually re-post this. This is a test to see who is really your friend or just an illusion of a real friend. Copy and re-post in your own bulletin. Lets see who the true friends are and who are just there to see your submissions, Re-post this if you are a friend... Don't reply... just copy and paste this in a new bulletin as "Fake Friends".

Posted 15 years agomy mom is now in there for a week, this is the second time she has been in there, though its not as much as my dad but still, im now forced to visit her, sigh, well i got nothing better to do i guess, i know its kinda heartless not to care but they have been there more than home, im sick of the place, that is all.
