Next week is April vacation, which obviously means that I won't have school next week. My goal to complete by the end of vacation is:
FINISH ALL OF THE OCT AUDITIONS BY THEN.

I'm aaaaalllllmost done with Bonds of String ( http://bonds-of-string.deviantart.com/ ) and I've started Miss OC ( http://missocpageant.deviantart.com/ ), so that will probably be done by the end of the night.

So my audition is kinda failing right now because when I see it I go, "..URGH let's go do yard work/the dishes/gouge out my eyes with page five!" I'm rushing on it because:

1. My parents are freaking about college (even though I'm a Junior in high school and the due dates aren't for a while) and that's making me freak out Edit: Dah, I didn't know my parents read this stuff. They mean well and they "freak out" because I don't push myself and if they didn't, I wouldn't get crap done. I use the word "freaking" in a loving way.. if that makes sense.
2. I have a junior essay to do that I'm procrastinating/forgetting majorly and that's going to bite me in the arse like it has already (almost missed a due date for research crap) Edit: CRAP I didn't know my parents read this. ._.;;
3. I don't like the way I made the comic layout, but it's too late to fix
4. I'm discouraged by the sucky line-art
5. General laziness now which means a crappy rush-job later

I know that those are just cruddy excuses that don't mean a damned thing except that I probably won't get into Bonds of String, but there y'go. Edit: My dad thinks that I shouldn't be uploading the comics because they don't make sense or they're so much worse than the rest of my work. I was aware of the fact that they're much worse, but I didn't know they didn't make sense. If anyone could give me some pointers on what exactly doesn't make sense about them, I'll be sure to.. well.. make them make more sense in the future. Also, this is making me think of redoing the audition so that it's better (AND SHORTER.) I already tried to redo it once and it was fail, but if y'all could tell me what doesn't make sense, then I think I could pull something off. I've still got time if I hurry but still do a good job! PUH-LEEEEEEZ tell me what's wrong with them!

I always make a huge deal about how I have no time for things, but I obviously have time to make this journal, so I'm not nearly as busy as I think I am. I think I could do this. I think that I'd be able to take on these two OCTs at once. I mean, hell, people do five at a time with art WAY better than the crap I submit on a good day! I should be doing research on my junior essay and I should be working on my audition (which I'm almost done sketching), but I don't wanna. TRADE?!

Alrighty, so I'm going to try something this month into next.. hopefully. I went over my brother's house for the weekend and I'm back now, and my soon-to-be sister-in-law said that some people are doing this challenge-type-thing to go without their computers or TVs for a month unless they needed the computer for work or school. I think that's an excellent idea and that if I did it, I'd be much more productive with my art, music, homework and everything in between. Ever since the ice storm (we lost power for a week and my birds and I had to stay with my brother) I've been wishing that we'd lose power again because it gave me time to focus on things I hadn't been able to do because of the computer. I simply can't resist the urge to dick around on the 'net.

SO, starting now, I'm not going to come on very much for a while. I'll upload things and such, but I won't be around too much if I stick with this.

ALSO: I'm saving up for a violin. :I

Since I rethought how I do things relating to characters, art and stories and doodled Shackles & Shambles on the bus last Friday, things've been great. I rethought all that stuff a while before I drew them, but just the fact that I'd gotten back to the way things were way back in middle school when original thoughts still lived in my head, I've been relentlessly cheerful and alive. I love the few new characters I've made since that time, especially Shackles & Shambles.

I indirectly blame the sudden change from original things to things that were so heavily inspired by things that they were essentially just a cheap rip-off on my best friend. When I first met her, she made a huge impression on me because she was so different than my friends; rather than the sort of random humour my friends had, she laughed at things that were actually funny and disapproved of a lot of my behaviour. Naturally, being the eager-to-please and highly-impressionable me, I wanted to be like her.

She disapproved of most of my ideas, and so I forgot about them and moved on to create things that she liked, which were mainly characters inspired by things. Soon, I required a flush of inspiration brought on by something I'd seen on TV or in a movie to make a new anything. Year or so later, I reflected back on my middle school days as being "silly."

Probably a month or so ago, I noticed how many of my characters were unoriginal pieces of horse dung. Most of them acted the same or were unpleasant to me in some way, and I really didn't like it. At all. SO, I was trying to break the old habits I had of trying to be like everyone else because I was too insecure to rely on myself.

Then, I had a kick in the mental-pants that I won't mention in-depth and I got myself into gear. I threw out my old ways of doing things and searched for the muse I had way back when, back in the days of angsty tween rage and in-the-closet (I'm a gay transsexual and proud of it, bitches) suicidal tendencies.

Now, onto what this journal is about.. I think I've found it again, or at least part of it, but the problem is that I feel like it's driving away my best friend. She doesn't like my new characters at all. She doesn't like any aspect of them and finds them creepy and disturbing. Since I don't want to do things the way I used to with her, it seems as though we can't roleplay, or even talk, like we used to. I really think that we're quickly drifting apart.

The problem with trying to mend this relationship is that I'm afraid that I'll slip back into my old ways and became another mindless drone that can't draw a stick figure without comparing it to someone else's to make sure it's ok. I'm trying too hard to kick my old habits and reinvent myself to have that happen again.

I don't know what to do.

I emailed my mum the two Shackles & Shambles comics that I've made so far and she just came in my room and was like, "I didn't like those cartoons you sent me! Don't use that language!" I proceeded to say that Shackles and Shambles are becoming kinda popular in my group of friends and some people online have shown their interest, and she went on to say that I can't show colleges any website I might have with them on it.

Is that really true? It sounds really silly to me. I mean, on DA I put a warning about language on the big comic. If college officials are sensitive to language.. ._. That just.. seems silly.. Very silly..

REGARDLESS, that totally made my day. xDD

It won't when my dad talks to me about it, if he does. Which he will. Undoubtedly. Dang.

I get nothing done at home while the computer is on. FOR INSTANCE, I should be working on my audition for Bonds of String right now. What am I doing instead? Typing this dumb-arse journal! WHEE.

If any electronic thing with a screen (other than iPod) is in the same room as I am, I'll end up sitting there with my sketch book open to whatever page, a pencil in my hand and a dumb-arse look on my face watching the screen. I think in order to get anything done at all, I need to get the hell outta my house. DERG.

You might have noticed that I haven't uploaded anything for over two weeks. I thought it was more than that, but I just checked and holycraptimegoesslow. D: ANYWAY.. Just letting you know that I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth. On the contrary.
I've also been drawing quite a lot, BUT I don't plan on uploading any of it. Why? Because I've been drawing my best mate's characters and my characters and stuff. They're human. Whenever I draw humans, I draw them as cats. I read way too much Lackadaisy. Every single time I draw a cat, it looks like Lackadaisy fan art. I don't want to have to deal with people thinking that I'm drawing fan art or saying that I'm copying Tracy or anything. 'Coz I'm not.
This is the easiest solution, and it's awesome because I don't care about what the people online might think about my stuff. That causes less stress while I'm drawing, which in turn makes the end results of my stuff better.
