What's with the Loading icon?
Posted 11 years agoSo, the FCC wants to abolish Net Neutrality. I'm not ok with this. Please check out the link below, if you haven't heard already.

"On September 10th, sites across the web will display an alert with a symbolic "loading" symbol (the proverbial “spinning wheel of death”) and promote a call to action for users to push comments to the FCC, Congress, and the White House. Note: none of these tools actually slow your site down; they tell your visitors about the issue and ask them to contact lawmakers."
I hope you can see this because I'm promoting it as hard as I can.

Going Away
Posted 11 years agoMy new job is nice to have (what with being a decent source of income and all), but boy am I short on free time lately! I'm so behind on everything! And my inbox may a'splode.
Well, my inbox is only going to fill up more this weekend, but it's for a good reason. Going to TooManyGames (gaming convention) with
the_enot! It's sure to be much needed fun times.
I should be in bed right now, so I can make it through work tomorrow, and the drive up to Rachel's place after. So, I'll see ya when I see ya. ^^

Beast's Fury KickStarter
Posted 11 years agoHey! Have you guys heard of Beast's Fury?! If not, go to the KickStarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/project.....sts-fury-going GO NOW!
Not only is it a furry themed fighting game, but the art looks fantastic, the animation is beautiful, and these guys have obviously put there heart and soul into making it happen.
Not to mention there's the possibility of Egoraptor of Game Grumps getting a cameo, as well as Benny the dog of hype.
And if you back the game, $35 AUD gets you the full version of the game when it's released. $35 is not a lot of money for a game, especially one of this quality.
Only 9 days left! D: I really want to see this happen, you guys! :D

Killer Headaches from Outer Space
Posted 11 years agoI had a not so fun Friday night. My head is bothering me, so I'm just gonna copy and paste the message I've been sending around to family and friends (and facebook). I guess I'm posting this as an explanation, just in case I disappear for an extended period of time.
I went to the ER (of Northwest Hospital) late last night, around 11PM. I'd had a headache for about 2 weeks, and last night around 9, there was a sudden pain in my right temple that shot down to my jaw and curled around behind my ear, and my cheek went numb. After a few hours, they gave me a CT scan and said they'd have the results in 30 - 45 minutes. Almost 2 hours later, they'd put me in a bed behind a curtain and forgot about me. A nurse came in and asked me the questions I'd already answered twice, then left and didn't come back. My mom talked to a second nurse passing by, who asked me the same questions again, making it obvious that there is no communication in this hospital. She said the doctor would be there soon and then was never seen again. At 3:30 AM, I had not seen a doctor. My head was in pain, and my blood sugar was low, since I hadn't eaten since 8:30 PM. I was in tears. We left without seeing a doctor, or much of anyone, and nobody even tried to stop me as I limped out the door, having trouble staying balanced due to combination of pain and low blood sugar.
I called them to get the results of my CT scan, since I still don't know if my problem is lift threatening, but they said I will have to come to them on Tues. between 9 am and 4:30 pm (when I will be at work), or have a doctor obtain the results.
I'd like to see the place torn down. They are obviously not interested in helping anyone. It may be further away, but I will be going to Johns Hopkins from now on, if it kills me.
My head still hurts. The numbness in my face is coming and going. Left a message on my primary care provider's voice mail. Waiting for a call back. Otherwise, I'll just have to make an appointment on Tuesday.

Frustrated
Posted 11 years agoHaving a bout of insomnia this week. Haven't slept in 3 days. To tired to do anything productive. Have to "wake up" at 6 am tomorrow. Eff.
I think it's stress related, and I just did something dumb, that's making it worse.
Blah, gonna go try warm milk again. And Zzz-Quil. Tasty, tasty Zzz-Quil.

O Christmas Branch, O Christmas Branch
Posted 11 years agoAw man, this is the first year I didn't draw a Christmas picture. Oh well. My job has kept me on my toes this season. Even though I'm only working part-time, I've got no energy. Oh, retail. At least the rush is over. I'm kinda bummed that it has put me deeper into my drawing slump.
But other than that, I've had a really good Christmas. :) I've got very generous friends. Thanks everyone who thought of me! I know I haven't been too good at showing it lately, but I'm grateful for all my friends and family, corny as that may sound.
the_enot Thanks again for the gifts! The Cyborg 009 comic really made my whole week. I've already read through half of it ^^;
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Working on Thanksgiving
Posted 12 years agoI'm pissed off. I just found out I'm working on Thanksgiving day. I'm working 3:30 - 7:30 pm in the Michaels CUSTOM FRAME SHOP on THANKSGIVING! If you feel the NEED to purchase a custom frame on Thanksgiving day, please go eat a bag of dicks and then kill yourself.
And this is the worst possible time I could be working, since dinner is at my aunt's house at 5 pm. So I'm just in time to be too late for dinner. Fuck. Just fuck.
I need to get out of retail right now.
My goal: New job before Christmas.
Originally, the goal was new job by February, for personal reasons. But this, in addition to shitty management; unpredictable hours; meager pay; and them screwing me over, while rewarding the dumb girl who never shows up on time - if at all (I could rant about her alone for hours) ... I need to get out for my own mental health.
Thanks for letting me vent, guys. Not much going my way at the moment, and I needed to get it out before I 'spolded.

Freebies
Posted 12 years agoSo,
neononion is drawing freebies, with the caveat that anyone who wants one has to offer 3 freebies for their watchers in return.
I'm up to this. I like free stuff just as much as the next person. Plus, maybe offering some freebies will give me the artistic jump-start I need.
So, I'll give away 3 free flat-colored headshots.
If you want one, you must also make a journal with this offer to your watchers.
Comment here with a link to your journal to claim a spot.

To quote neononion's journal: "ALSO! I want to put it out there that you don't have to be a majestically talented artist to do this. It's not about skill or talent or anything, it's about kindness. It's about making someone smile and cheering up what could easily be the worst day of their lives. Whether you're a novice artist or a licensed professional, bring it on."

The Customer is Rarely Right
Posted 12 years agoFor those of you who don't know, I'm currently working as a custom framer. It's not a bad job, when the managers get off my back and the hours stop fluctuating, but that's another story.
I wanna talk about one specific customer, who called before I got in. It's probably a good thing I didn't get to talk to her.
She ordered a frame. My co-worker put it together and gave it to her. She left. The end, right?
Nope.
After getting it home, she called the store in a blind rage, saying that we should refund her completely! Why? There was a hair caught between the mat and the glass. Granted, this shouldn't have happened. But it's right there in our policy (which she has a copy of), that if there is a problem, bring us the frame and we'll fix it, free of charge. But no way in hell is she getting a refund for a hair.
Her reasoning was, if she found a hair in her food at a restaurant, they would give her a refund and a new meal. ... "Ma'am, were you planning to eat that frame?" This is why I'm glad I missed that call. I can just imagine the hissy fit she would have thrown when I explained to her how she's comparing apples to oranges, and no, frames do not fucking work that way.
Her husband came in with the frame, on my shift. He was much more reasonable. I told him, I would clear the hair, and even offered replace the glass, since I noticed a scratch that the wife hadn't even mentioned. He did not ask for a refund, so hopefully I don't hear from the wife again.

2013
Posted 12 years agoWent to a pretty fun new year's eve party. Some friends and I were going to play a drinking game and rip on a bad movie. We chose the first Twilight movie. But my friend's co-worker, who was going to lend it to us, forgot to give it to us, and we're not paying for that crap. So we broke out the Netflix and watched Wild Wild West, which I had never seen. Oh lord, I didn't realize what a terrible movie that was! I was half way through my glass 20 minutes in. And I was taking very small sips.
We all got tipsy, and decided to give up on the game before we made ourselves sick. It's fun being tipsy. Throwing up, not so much.
We proceeded to play tipsy video games, then crashed at our host friend's house, and had delicious pancakes and bacon in the morning.
Not a bad way to ring in the new year, if I do say so myself.
Happy New Year! I hope 2013 is a good one.

That Christmas Feeling
Posted 12 years agoMerry Christmas!
Despite having lots of time, money, and health issue in the past two months, this has been a pretty good day.
Had a nice day with the family, and it was even a white Chirstmas, technically (it snowed yesterday, but there was still snow on the ground today). I got some cool gifts. My brothers and I went out and built a snowman together for the first time in years. We're all just big kids. :)
And we watched Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. :3
I consider this day a win.

Howloween
Posted 13 years agoHappy Halloween one and all!
Gah, I've been away for a while. Just glad I got my Halloween drawing done a bit early. My new job is taking up a lot of time and it looks like I won't get a break until Friday... and then back to work on Saturday. Oh well.
In any case, have a spooky Halloween! I'll be around when I can, but don't be scared to say hi. :3

Dual Light Refraction
Posted 13 years agoEarlier today, a thunder storm passed through my area. I went out right afterward and saw a double rainbow, literally all the way across the sky. It was so vivid. What does it mean?
But seriously, it was pretty neat to see. I'd never seen a rainbow go from one end of the horizon to the other like that. Oh, light refraction, why you so purty?
