Got invited to a friend's barbeque, and there was so much good food. Burgers, hotdogs, potato salad, deviled eggs, veggies with dip, and rich chocolaty brownies! I ate too much and loved it. XD
Then, we walked down to the corner of my street to watch the neighbor's fireworks display. They usually get some good fireworks, and it's easier than driving out to a professional show and fighting the traffic all the way home. But man, I didn't expect it to be a block party! I guess a lot of people had the same idea.
Finished off the evening by watching the lightning bugs blinking in the trees. It's been quite a nice holiday.

June 2011, I was diagnosed with a minor heart condition, called SVT (Supraventricular tachycardia). It really wasn't anything that could kill me, but it wasn't fun either. For what seemed like no reason at all, my heart would start racing, and I'd get dizzy, have trouble breathing, lose all my energy, and on rare occasions, I momentarily passed out.
I'd been struggling with this for 5 or 6 years now, and until last June, thought it was just bad anxiety attacks. Nope!
So long story short, my family and I decided it was best to get it fixed for good, since the surgical procedure had such a high success rate. The surgeons ran 2 catheters into my heart - 1 though the inner thigh/groin area and 1 through the neck - to perform an ablation. Fun, right?! But wait, they kept me awake for parts of this! I mean, I was drugged up pretty good, so I was in and out and I didn't really feel like moving.... Most of the time. I remember getting very uncomfortable, so I started moving around to let them know I was more aware than I should be. It's fuzzy, but I distinctly remember one of the surgeons saying "She's waking up" and then I felt more of the anesthetic go into my arm. A bit disturbing, but I didn't really care at the time. For obvious reasons.
Anyway, the ol' ticker is fixed now. Hooray!
As for the picture, I drew it the night before the procedure (procedure was on May 16th) as both a distraction, and a way to remind myself the procedure was so I didn't have to feel like that anymore.
So happy now! :)

the_enot is taking commissions to help cover the some unexpected expenses.
Help her out if you can? Or if you can't afford a commission, spread the word.

General | Posted 14 years agoMy cat, Hemi, has been missing since last night. I know it's useless to write this. Nobody here can do anything about it. I'm just worried about him, and I don't know what else to do.
I searched the neighborhood, calling him and shaking his favorite toy. I asked a few of the neighbors if they'd seen him. Nope. I even called the SPCA and filed a lost pet report. What else can I do?

The Good, The Bad, and The Stupid
General | Posted 14 years agoToday, well technically yesterday... Saturday was kind of a big day for me. I'm on my karate studio's demo team, and we performed a kenpo demonstration at our town festival. It was the first time I've felt confident enough to ask friends and family to come watch me perform. And I think it went well for our first public demonstration. We've got another performance Sunday. I hope it goes well, too. Or preferably better.
Only 1 problem. I have terrible stage fright. I seem to have conquered it during the time of the performance. But I'm still really anxious about it off stage. And that's on top of all the regular life stress.
I know I'm really stressed because I had a lucid dream last night. I only have them when I'm pretty much burned out. I think it's my subconscious telling me to relax. I've been having a lot of car trouble lately, which is probably why I dreamed someone stole a bunch of parts from my car. But at some point, I realized I was dreaming, so I decided there was a convenient auto-parts store giving away all the stuff I needed and they installed the parts for free. That would be awesome in real life, but... BORING DREAM! Man, next time I have a lucid dream I'm making myself a super hero or something.
Anyway, sorry about that. I really am stressed, and complaining into the ether helps.

Comic Con and a Quake
General | Posted 14 years agoSo I went to Baltimore Comic Con with theenot this past weekend. Fun was had. I filled in some gaps in my comic collection, got some original art, talked to some artists I haven't seen in about a year (wow, some even remembered me =D ), and saw plenty of impressive costumes. Didn't see Stan Lee, but I got a cup that says EXCELSIOR! Same thing, right?
And on Saturday, I dressed up as Dan from Dan Vs. ... It's kinda disturbing how well I pulled that off. o.O I was recognized by a whole 2 people. Yay! If you haven't seen Dan Vs. (it's on The Hub), I highly recommend watching it.
On a different note, if you haven't already heard (from everybody) ... Earthquake!!! OMG! Head for the hills! No, wait, don't do that. They're wobbly.
Seriously though, the area I live in is not known for earthquakes. We don't get them. This was the first time I've ever felt an earthquake. I saw a magnetic field in the sky, which is apparently common after quakes. I didn't know that until today. And (since nobody was hurt), I think it was kinda cool. Certainly livened things up for the rest of the day.

It's kinda disturbing how well I pulled that off. o.O I was recognized by a whole 2 people. Yay! If you haven't seen Dan Vs. (it's on The Hub), I highly recommend watching it.
On a different note, if you haven't already heard (from everybody) ... Earthquake!!! OMG! Head for the hills! No, wait, don't do that. They're wobbly.
Seriously though, the area I live in is not known for earthquakes. We don't get them. This was the first time I've ever felt an earthquake. I saw a magnetic field in the sky, which is apparently common after quakes. I didn't know that until today. And (since nobody was hurt), I think it was kinda cool. Certainly livened things up for the rest of the day.

General | Posted 14 years agoWell, Otakon was a blast! We hit a few snags here and there, but more often than not, it was a lot of fun. I'm not gonna do a huge report or anything, but here's a summary. Saw lots of awesome costumes, ate lots of sushi, waited in long lines, watched a Fullmetal Alchemist movie premier, and spent waaaaaay too much money. Fun times were had, but now I have much rest to catch up on. Oh, sleep, where art thou?!

Otakon is On the Way
General | Posted 14 years agoGah! It's so hard to get online anymore. I'm on my lunch break and of course, FA is probably the last site I should be on right now, what with co-workers bouncing around. (oh, yes. They bounce. Unexpectedly. It's scary.)
