What do you want to see Brogan doing?

Let There be Anthro Bighorn Sheep!
General | Posted 15 years agoI have decided upon another race to add into the fantastic collection of people for my world of Valagn, aka Brogan's world. I seem to have come up with the concept of the races coming in pairs. Humans and dwarves (and orcs/ogres and goblins/hobgoblins, more on that later), elves and gnomes, and gnolls and kobolds. My minotaurs now need a slightly shorter yet still similar looking counterpart. And what would better compliment bipedal bovines than sheep? Bighorn sheep to be precise for some impressive but not impractical headgear.
My reasoning has minotaurs averaging 7-8 feet in height, the anthro bighorns being 4 1/2- 6 feet. I now just need some time to come up with a name more evocative than 'anthro-bighorn'. For now, they shall be code-named Minovis (see what I did there?). So now we shall have some mutton alongside the beef!

Anthrocon 2011 Plans
General | Posted 15 years agoRight now I'm thinking of going, since I had such a humongous blast at the last one. I'm just wondering if I can find three other people to go with since I'm looking at a room at the Omni and plotting. So, who wants in? (note that this is not 1st come, 1st served. I hold final say. it's early enough that I can be choosy)
A Minotaur Clan?
General | Posted 15 years agoI was never actually looking for one of those "fur families" that seem to be all the rage among some of the frequenters of this site. I wasn't looking, but it appears that I've stumbled into one. In short, here's a shout-out to the other member of the clan/tribe/thing I now find myself in.
The mentors:
tkd_dbull and
meanbeard, with an honorary set of horns presented to
dineegla and
musclewolf
The brothers:
brauner and
minotauric
Cousins from across the pond:
tolgron and
bohsar
Anyone else wanna' hop on board this bandwagon, as you can see you don't have to be a bull/minotaur/tauren, but it helps.
And in other news, fellow New Jerseyan
larathen is open for emergency commissions. Do it, do it now.

General | Posted 15 years agoOkay, right now I'm in that perfect moment of having my Anthrocon memories fresh in my mind and being fed and rested enough to be able to recount them. So without further ado, here's my account of Anthrocon 2010.
Travel: I do believe that I've now seen almost all of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The eastern third was familiar to me since I would drive it fairly commonly when going to and from LVC. It was odd to see so many pro-coal power signs lining the road. The best one said "Wind dies, the sun sets, but coal is here now." Funny, does coal come back every morning?
But that's a tangent. Six hours behind the wheel really fly by with the right soundtrack. I believe I montage'd my way to Pittsburgh and home. And as a side note: I got slightly lost while leaving, but I did get an awesome view of downtown from the hillside. City planners take note: build in a valley.
The Venue: The convention center and hotel were beautiful. Though I wish everything was on the same plane. With the elevators more often than not hidden behind a line of furs and fursuiters, that left the stairs. On the plus side, my calves are now nicely toned. Seriously I could probably mule kick doors down.
The Convention: Now to the heart of the matter, there was so much to do and see, witness and experience. FAU was a blip on the radar compared to this. The Artist Alley, Dealer's Den, panels, game rooms, meet n' greets, etc. etc. etc.
The People: Okay, this was one of the major reasons why I went, to meet the people who have until now been screennames. Met back up with Dbull for the first time since the Baltimore Comic Con, and finally met Dineegla and Musclewolf in meatspace, along with Meanbeard. Minotaurs represent! Musclewolf did a group pic of some of my bulls (which I need to send to Dineegla for coloring) and Dbull went to town inking the tauren buttsex pic by Gideon, inked my badge from Rukis, did a new badge, and handed over a stack of minotaur art. Green grass and high tides, baby. Went to visit both Gideon and Rukis to show them the inks. Rukis loved the badge and Gideon signed the tauren pic.
I eventually found Darius Koopa and Mako after a little searching. They were fun, Mako did a sketch in my book and Darius... Well, Darius managed to get at that hard-to-reach itch on my back.
Saw Dazen Cobalt in the Zoo and ran into Hornet V2 in the Den. Poor guy had voice issues. Also saw Larathen again in the Dealer's Den and bought one of his pieces. It was a tauren. And met Unknownwolf there as well. Saw Charkonian wandering outside the game room, never got around to teaching him how to play Magic. Also ran into Kintari, showing that I drove six hours only to run into someone who lives 30 minutes away. And I kept running into Darkjokerwolf. I swear I wasn't stalking him, it just happened. I can be a ninja sometimes, ask Darius.
Found Donryu and Eidolun in the Dealer's Den and picked up some earlier commission from them. They're both really cool guys.
Saw Dragoneer, our illustrious webmaster, around the Zoo but never saw an opening to say "hi." Probably all for the best. I found out from Dineegla that one of FA's admins thought I was Lupine Assassin/Allen. (For disambiguation: I am not him, nothing remotely lupine in my gallery). Only Dineegla knows the secret behind my commission capability, and the moose ain't talking.
Mostly hung around with the group from FAU, had my first real drink since March 15, 2008 (didn't see any leprechauns this time). Saw Jesus and Chthulu in the same room. Capt. Jack Sparrow held a gun to my throat to ensure I washed my hands really well. Saw Linnaeus in and out of his friar badger suit. Saw Tsuka in full bovine regalia and in human form in the zoo, not a bad looking guy, actually wears a bullring. Picked up my own copy of Zombie Fluxx and played Chrononauts and Red Dragon Inn. Also got a copy of Shard, an RPG that's like furry Prince of Persia times Final Fantasy.
That should be all the odds and ends. If I neglected to mention anyone I'm really sorry. It was a blur of games, art, and fursuits.
Final Verdict: It was a blast! I had 7.32 tons of fun over those days. 2's rant was hilarious, the suiters were amazing, the people were friendly. The fandom seems so vivacious in real life, none of that online drama around.
Still, I have some regrets. Like what I did in the elevator... no I'm kidding. But I wish I had more time to hang around with a lot of the artists. Donryu was in the zoo for a while, but he was arting and I didn't want to bother him... Well, not bother him too much, we did set up pizza at the other end of his table when there were none free elsewhere.
I'm still kicking myself for not meeting Narse and Unshackledfenrir. And, aside from Mako's generous contribution, my sketchbook is bare. There was so much to do but only so much time in which to fit it. I support 2's idea to make Pittsburgh a furry stronghold, so the con would never end.
Anyway, back to reality. And to my writing. Until next time, ZigZagZiggy the Mad Bull Writer, out.

A Red Letter Day for Bisexual Minotaur Fantasy
General | Posted 15 years agoHey, before I get into the purpose of this entry I wanna' give a shout out to
larathen, who I believe is still taking commissions; and
tenebear, who is doing these cool group commissions. Hit him up if you wanna' spend some beachtime with ZigZag. Lastly, go see
bohsar for a ton of sexy beef, of both the tauren and minotaur variety. She gave my warrior ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3738152 ) some nice screentime as she goes through a collection of divine bovines.
Back to the point, I received my Certificate of Resistration from the United States Copyright Office at the Library of Congress. Demonskin is registered and I hold an official copyright on my novella! Any misgivings about having the entire story posted online have been dispelled now that Uncle Sam backs up my rights of ownership and I've taken the first step toward being more than a literary dabbler.

20k pageviews!!!
General | Posted 15 years agoSometime during the night the number of people who have taken a peek at my page passed 20,000! Wow, just wow. I don't know what to say. I'd thank each person who contributed to that number, but I don't have three weeks free to devote to that. So I'll just sent out another "THANK YOU!" to everyone who decided to take a look at my minotaur fixation.
One Year of Minotaur Magic
General | Posted 15 years agoHas it really been that long? I can't believe that it's been one year since I uploaded this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2251444 to my gallery. A big thank you goes out to
tkd_dbull for this, the first picture of Ruulkan Greenflame. Ruk's my first real minotaur character and still sits at the top of my favorites list, though I anticipate he'll share the throne with Brogan as I follow his adventure.
Just thought I'd share this. I mean, this is kind of an anniversary of sorts.

General | Posted 15 years agoSeriously, I want to thank everyone who shared their ideas in my last journal. Truth be told, I was feeling like my creative spark was sputtering. Since I still have classwork to do I haven't been able to write as much as I'd like to, and I've been planning various stories in my mind. Problem is, I think I overthought about this and drained my will. Thanks to everyone whose suggestions helped to kick the gears in my head back into motion.
And what is the fruit of my revitalized imagination? A dark foil to Ruulkan. Not an evil twin or anything hackneyed like that, but a minotaur with powers similar to Ruulkan without any of his heart. I haven't named this bull yet, but I was working on his angle. Most of my "villains" really aren't. Adrugos is a sex-hungry thief, but he shows a heroic side when needed. Dr. Roberts hypnotically enslaves the unsuspecting for profit, though he has a soft side and never does permanent harm.
This bull mage sees no problem in using his magic to fulfill his darkest desires, and even has a thing for transformational magic. That's right, he's fond of changing humans into minotaurs for his pleasure. I said long ago that Ruulkan might turn foes into orcs as punishments, but that's only if you really make him mad. The new guy can planeshift to Earth for his victims, the sad thing is he sees himself as doing "God's work" in "fixing" humanity. He's developed various spells that do that and usually involve indulging his carnal needs.
Watch out, Ruulkan. You have something new to worry about. Now I just need a name for him...

Ideas, Please!
General | Posted 15 years agoFeel free to toss out any ideas involving minotaurs/tauren/anthro-bulls. They can involve generic bovines or any of my characters. C'mon, let the beefy randomness flow!
I also like TF sequences

I don't know, something about getting transformed by leather gear just seems so erotic. Though, were they tf'd into bulls or bears I'd be in heaven, but chunky otters are good too.

Anniversary of sorts
General | Posted 15 years agoI can hardly believe it's been more or less a year since I started commissioning artists to free my minotaurs from the confines of my mind. Looking back I realized that Ruulkan's first pic was posted three days before my own birthday, I love being a Taurus.
I know I missed the actual anniversary (I could have called it an annifursary, but that would be too sickeningly cutesy), but I just want to once again to thank the now 700+ watchcers and 17k+ who've taken a gander at my humble page. Good to know there are people out there who love minotaurs as much as I do.

Brogan's Story
General | Posted 15 years agoI'm not sure how much info I've shared concerning my minotaur blacksmith with a brain who has been seeing more play lately. I figured I'd lay out his backstory here and now.
I say backstory because, first and foremost, Brogan is the main character of the novel I've been plotting since October and I'm about ready to move on to the writing stage. Brogan is the youngest son of the Stoutheart family, well-known for their brewery in the town of Dredgestone. He has two older brothers and an older sister; his oldest brother, Clovus, disappeared several years ago on a merchant voyage around the continent of Orndhal. No body was every discovered, only his horns were returned by one of the other crewmen.
After Clovus' assumed death, Brogan's father reined in his children, trying to avoid losing another child. Brogan doesn't believe his brother is really gone and would love to travel the land to find out what happened, but his father forbids it. Kept from seeing the world, Brogan became a voracious reader and would ask travelers that visited the family tavern about their exploits.
Brogan took up smithing over the family business thanks to the "suggestion" of his other brother Tiernan. Tiernan made it clear he was going to be the heir to the brewey and all but forced Brogan out after their brother vanished.
So there you go. Brogan Stoutheart, humble smith, collector of tales and stories, and maybe, just maybe, minotaur hero.

My Strange Inspiration
General | Posted 16 years agoRecently I've been working on revising the "Bear and Bull" story, reworking into being the foundation for another story series. My original idea was to place the tale in one of those pseudo-medieval settings. But after I laid out Tarn's background (starting here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3542732/ ) I felt that it would be out of place. Especially when you consider how modern Tarn's accessories look in: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3547218/
I thought it was best to move the setting to Tilharth, the world where Ruulkan and company have all their misadventures. Just because they live in a rather modern republic where magic and technology work in concert doesn't mean the rest of the planet is as developed. Varous kingdoms exist in enclaves in other parts of the continent. Of course, that means Tarn can have access to a variet of new toys, and he might even get to run into a certain burly mage...
Now onto some game related news. I don't play on the Wii as much as the 360 or my computer, but I recently dusted it off. For over a year the only new games I bought for it were downloaded. Today I downloaded Castlevania Adventure ReBirth and the fan-favorite Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Yes, the only thing I use it for is to play old games and remakes of classic series.
Although, there is this game called Tournament of Legends coming out in May. It's a fighting game and one of the characters is a minotaur! I think it's time to actually buy a Wii game from the store in meatspace.

Family Secrets
General | Posted 16 years agoGuess what my father found among all the various oddities from my grandmother's house?
A pair of swastika engraved Nazi daggers.
Before your jaws drop, my grandmother and her siblings were all pure Polish and one of my great uncles fought for the US in WWII. It's a shame he passed away before I was even born, because I would dearly have liked to know the story behind the blades. It's not everyday you find the spoils of war and a piece of history.

Warcraft Pr0n?
General | Posted 16 years agoAnd I have your attention. Sorry about the deception, but I've noticed that WoW related titles elicit the most responses. So on to a few status updates.
Item the first, despite appearances, I am still working on the stories. That lv 53 (!) tauren has been quite the distraction, but my first run-through in every game is always the one I spend the most contiguous time on. And that game time will soon be divided once FF13 drops next week, Where was I? Oh right, the writings. "Clash", and "Blaze" will continue at some point even as I rework "Bear and Bull."
Second item, I've recently exceeded 15,000 pageviews. Umm, huzzah for everyone involved!?
Point C, Magaret Weis is now on my Facebook friend list! Margaret Freakin' Weis! She's one of my favorite authors; she's one of the creators of the Dragonlance series and co-author of its most influential books! *cue fanboy squeal*
Well you read this so have some laughs:

I can't guarantee it's not a Rick'Roll.

I can never play Dragon Age again
General | Posted 16 years agoEver since getting into WoW, Bioware's fantasy RPG just seems so lacking. I though the game was packed with flavor, turns out they just added a different twist on Lord of the Rings. Only three races and only three classes? WoW may have race/class restrictions, but even the tauren can choose from among four options.
Speaking of Warcraft, that game has gifted me with two new characters, both tauren. Zigzahal (see where the name came from?", the warrior who, thanks to an rp chat with
montezuma, has great reason to dislike goblins. The second being Rohukarlo, exiled Grimtotem shaman. It's a shame that I don't have a DnD group, apparently I'm a viking at getting into a character's head.

General | Posted 16 years agoWhat does everyone think of my newest minotaur? Truthfully, I'm thinking of revising "Bear and Bull" in order to develop both characters further.
I was going for a humbled warrior figure in Tarn. He was cocky and self-assured, but a chance encounter with a knight broke his spirit along with the ensuing two years of sexual bondage.
On another note, I want to thank everyone who reads my stories. I know I'm never going to be as popular as
graveyardgreg, but I still enjoy crafting these little narratives. Hopefully I can do more of my novel once the semester ends. I must complete Brogan's adventure so the world can have more minotaur fiction! And who knows? If it ever becomes a movie, we get the 'taurs as main characters instead of throwaway villains.

If it ever becomes a movie, we get the 'taurs as main characters instead of throwaway villains. For the Horde!
General | Posted 16 years agoToday I branched out in WoW, making an orc shaman and a blood elf warlock (calm down, elf boy's not evil, he's one of those "oh look at me as I turn the darkness against itself" type of sorcerors... at least in my head) in addition to my tauren warrior. Big shout out to
pak for gifting me with more gold than any lower-level character has any right to have.
One of the things in Warcraft that appealed to me was the option to play as one of the "bad" races. Why play Alliance when every other games trots out the obligatory Man/Elf/Dwarf triad? I'm looking at you, Dragon Age. Tauren are big, primitive-looking minotaurs. Orcs have that underdog vibe, and tusks. And blood elves go down the sinister mage path. How can I go back to "Oh look at us. We're humans." Bo-ring. Been there, done that. Even Oblivion let you play as an orc, even though their heads looked a little like limes.
And it looks like we're due for another blizzard tomorrow. Unlike last week, I have no plans to go anywhere. I enjoy being alive and unbroken too much. Perfect excuse to dive into more writing. I had an idea for another story, to be fleshed out at some future time when I'm not juggling three narratives. Maybe I'll share this new idea after I work out a sample opening. It will feature a new minotaur and a HUMAN! (Pause for the ZOMGWTFBBQAT&T outburst)

As if I didn't have minotaurs and their kin enough already..
General | Posted 16 years ago...I got Warcraft. Y'know, now that I have a gaming-grade laptop, figured it was time.
Anyway, I made a Tauren Warrior and I'm enjoying it, little that I've played so far. Something about staring at the swaying backside of my bull is so... hypnotic..............................
Huh? Wha? Sorry, distracted by the thought of rumproast.
Now it's time to get so engulfed in the game that I lose all grasp of time and place. Or not. I still have literary obligations.

Ask me anything!... Again!
General | Posted 16 years agoThought I'd try this out again.
You know how it goes; you ask me a question and I answer to the best of my ability. Queries that I feel are too personal or invasive will still be answered, though with dubious veracity.

Your Favorite Character (Part 2)
General | Posted 16 years agoI asked ths question before a while back, but I thought I'd dust it off for another round since I finally posted Dirk's tale.
So, which of my major characters is your favorite?
The choices:
Ruulkan
Killdozer aka Rhezerdrek
Adrugos
Kaladon
Tylara
Scourge
Bruno aka T-Bone
Ezekiel
Clayton
Dirk
Dr. Roberts
or a choice not listed here that I forgot.

I wish I could've made it to MFF but...
General | Posted 16 years agoSo MFF sounds like it's a fun time, too bad it's in the midwest. But I am looking forward to May and FAUnited. That looks like it'll be my first Con ever. I was within eyesight of the Mt. Laurel Marriot last night, being that it is taking place in my stomping grounds of South Jersey.
In other news, I do have AIM, MSN, and Skype and I do enjoy chatting with people (just not RP'ing, unless it involves levels and XP). I just don't advertise them since I don't want random people browsing the site finding me. Just be aware that I rarely start chats.
Anyway, that's it for now. As you were.

The Endless Meme...
General | Posted 16 years ago...or not. Fooled ya'!
I have come to a pretty major decision. I am going to try to write my own fantasy novel. I'll still keep up with the minotaur stories here, this new idea will be more of a side project.
I mean, if Rowling could make millions with hack writing (I like the books, but there are way too many deus ex machina moments and pointlessly alliterative names), and Tolkien could write an enduring saga with strong homoerotic undercurrents (I mean, he shipped all the male characters; Frodo and Sam, Legolas and Gimli, Merry and Pippin. And the only hetero pairing counted as incest, Arwen was Aragorn's cousin!) then I might have a shot.
And if you were wondering, this book idea will involve minotaurs. I'll come out and say it; my dream is to be a renowned minotaur author in the league of Dragonlance's Richard Knaak.
And in other news, I now have Skype. But here's a warning: I don't RP unless it involves a d20 and I'm slinging magic missiles.

Oh the soreness. But oh what a weekend!
General | Posted 16 years agoOkay, so I went to the Baltimore Con yesterday. I met a ton of awesome artists, got some rather amazing new graphic novels to read/enjoy the art of, and got most of the stuff SIGNED by the authors/artistsright there. Time for a difficult choice, what to read first? Mice Templars? The Elephantmen? And someone go tell
dineegla that there is a book called Mighty Moose.
And I got to hang out with
tkd_dbull the whole time! If you were wondering, yes, he is that cool in person.
Now I need sleep, Rock Band and hibachi restaurants really take a toll.
Though I did get to ask a cosplayer "Are you gay, or just British?" in proper context.
