Hello again to all
Posted 5 months agoI meekly am stating 'Hello to yall' I been away for stupid stuff, just out of rehab again. Today I stumbled upon youtube of Anthroon's parade. I started looking and realized the fun that it was back then.
Back in 2016, I stopped doing the furbowls and dropped out of the public side of the fan-dom due to attitudes and comments toward me from some non tolerant 'tolerant furs'.
I put Zippy and art stuff in a box, with a few mothballs, and went about my life. I retired from the WM Scenic RR and startedd repairing some old tube radios and oscilloscopes.
I missed Zip, and only talked about the fandom with some closer friends.
I'm still under meds, I'll be done with all that soon.
Today, seeing those vids brought me to grief that has been buried inside awhile. I talked with a pretty well known furiend, thats made me feel a lot better.
Sorry to unload on yall like this, but maybe I'll start posting here and on DA some more. Thats always been therapyootic for me.
With Love,
An Old Coyote

Posted 3 years agoIs any one here anymore? I'd love to know...
So...
Posted 5 years agoI'm becoming tired of all the divisiveness and hate for rational thought I am seeing in this fandom. It used to be a pretty tolerant lot of fans, but lately it's grown into a community of weirdos who hate their country. So.. I am deleting and cleaning stuff out, and laying low for now. Those of my freinds, y'all know how to reach me.
So long and thanks for all the fish.

Another Fake
Posted 5 years agoSo much fake stuff these days. Art, stories, news. And fake Holidays too.
Like 'Cino de Mayo' Created by American beverage makers to sell adult beverages, and jumped on by the rest of the food, drink, & party favor industry as a reason to make more$$$. No, it's not celebrated in another country as a national holiday (unless maybe capitalists there have jumped on the bandwaagon).
Ah may God Bless Capitalism. It brings out the Best of the ad salesman's imagination!

Posted 5 years agoThis, from the Dean of Hillsdale College:
[W]e must not be led into adopting for ourselves the evils of war in time of peace upon any pretext whatever. The word ‘civilization’ means not only peace by the non-regimentation of the people such as is required in war. Civilization means that officials and authorities, whether uniformed or not, whether armed or not, are made to realize that they are servants and not masters.
Socialism or overweening State life, whether in peace or war, is only sharing miseries and not blessings. Every self-respecting citizen in every country must be on his guard lest the rulers demand of him in time of peace sacrifices only tolerable in a period of war for national self-preservation.
The sacrifices that are demanded of Americans today may be necessary, but they must never become customary. The purpose of our government is to keep us alive, yes, but also to keep us living and working, as is our right.
Going forward, our best leaders will eschew political gamesmanship and work to control our borders, fix our public health agencies, and end our dependence on China and other foreign countries for goods that are essential to our national health and security. We must prepare ourselves to face the next pandemic without surrendering our way of life.

Drying...
Posted 5 years agoI'm not gonna hide this. I am going to a clinic this week to dry out. I have been an alcoholic for far too long. I'll be back very soon. That's all I gotta say. Maybe I'll find a way to bring my art back. And my self. I'll see y'all at Anthro con.
Furthemore
Posted 5 years agoI would love to have gone to Furthemore this weekends- But I forgot about it on Friday, and between other things I had to do, and Wanda being at work, it looks like Saturday and Sunday are out of the question. Nervertheless, I hope y'all who are there are having a good time!
I wish I'd have gone. I've become increasingly more hermetic as of late, and aside from the skwirl, as company, I am getting rather lonesome and wanting a bud to talk to.

O MY DEAR PRUDENCE
Posted 5 years agoI still here... just a bit tardy. I still watch you, many of you. Part of the gaps been my lack of LOGGING onto FA. I just look, from a non logged screen. OK, so I'll make an effort to grok y'all, I have not turned my back. And yep, same as last February, I've become withdrawn, struggling with depression, sleep obsession, and simple sloth-and-laziness. I still get out though, walk my doggy Keeshaba, and often just park th car to watch an intermodal train pass. I still listen to Willy, Waylon, Clash, Psych- Furs, Depeche Mode and Hank III. I still love my Wanda closely, and we still go on onna weekly date. (we do sushi or gyro NOMS)
And YES! We have our room for Anthrocon, Back in the Westin, too! (I dunno how I managed that, except the internet let me...)
One furry friend I've lost lately is a grey muzzle: Shadowbandit. https://www.furaffinity.net/user/shadowbandit/ I met him some 9-10 years ago at Anthrocon, sorry to see his passing. I feel a loss. Jeez, not so many of us left anymore, let's stay close,
So, Yep. this old yote is still around, I'll be prodding you with my anti-socialist atts and my "Gol-Damn You Bernie" feelings. If you don't like it, then un-fave me now, pal,I don't care. I will be on the RNC side, and an election staffer. THIS GREAT USA MUST NOT FALL TO SOCIALISM OR COMMUNISM!!!!!!

WTBH?
Posted 5 years agowow FA has changed this whole thing since my last visit.... I don't even grok it. I have no access to journal, no access to favorites, at least that I can figure out in my tired state. Its getting difficult for me. I have aseveral conditions that affect my kidney and blood health, they have slowed me from a good active coyote life to that of a dyinng old dog. And I aint happy bout all that. I'll stick with y'all for as long as the force lasts. Hopefully, a long while.
eh well
Posted 6 years agoThis past week has been awful for me. I have had 3 forms of arthritis hit both knees and my right elbow. I've been in severe pain, and completely bedridden for a week. Not even able to use the PC until today.
I know this means little to you, but man, during that week I would really have enjoyrd your company, even online.
I'm hating becoming old. So much is passing from me.

It happens in 3's
Posted 6 years agoThey say bad things happen in 3's...
Yesterday, returning from Gettysburg, the oil pressure light came on in my Jeep. I wound up towing it home. Gonna be big$$ to fix that. Fortunately I don't think I blew the motor up.
Last night we noticed the room getting cooler, with the furnace blower running. Ran out of fuel oil. Spent all day in a 60 deg. house.
I wonder what the 3rd bad thing will be? Not too bad I hope.

here it is a week later, and IT'S STILL FEBRUARY!
Posted 6 years agoWhen will Spring Spring?
lately I been painting. Not all that great. I'll post one soon.
I've fallen in love with these adorable tiny little narrow gauge steam locos, in China. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WznzgvP9cts
They run on 762mm (about 30 in.) gauge tracks, for clay-pit, coal mine, or quarry services. I think most are gone as of 2017, but they're still chugging. And I think the Shibanxi Ry has turned to tourism. (How Capitalist!?!) The lokies are called C2 class, 0-8-0, a russian design, copied all over asia and E. Europe.
I still love steam locomotives. The saddest day in my career? Stepping down from a WMRY caboose, on WMRY trackage, after working as a brakeman on a steam powered WMSR train...
I still go out and watch the trains, but they all look the same to me these days.
OK. Zippy's done his rant and will step off of his Hyde Park soap box now. God Bless you all.

to make this february worse...
Posted 6 years agoA thing happened here a little while ago that has left me troubled. It is a natural thing, normal in wild life, but the fact that I was part of it disturbs me. I left Alex, my 10 year old cat, out for a late nite excursion. Not unusual for him. About a half hour ago, I heard some squawking noise on the porch, and yes Alex had caught something... a male red Cardinal bird. He'd brought it as a gift to me, to the front door. But you see, I've taken some pride to have been feeding these birds this month, as their bright red colors and alertness is counterpoint to this dull winter month we call February. And here, Alex has killed it. Not really his fault, he's doing a thing that God's way has wired into his being.
But I picked up the still alive bird, at first I thought I might be some help. Alex had pulled a lot of feathers off, it was breathing heavily, and I saw his blood on my hand. He was looking at me, his eye blinked. I could do nothing for him. I held him for a few minutes, unsure what to do... put the bird out to die in the freezing ice, keep it inside to possibly revive, or die in the warmth of the kitchen. I felt so sorry, because I have observed that cardinals are paired for life, and I know there's a wife that's lost her mate out there now.
I just held the bird for awhile. I decided the humane thing to do was put him out of his pain. I wrapped his dying body in a paper towel, and beheaded him quickly with a butcher knife. I swear you all it was a very difficult thing to do.
I am troubled also, that I am angry with the cat. He was trying to gift me with his trophy... but the gift was another creature that I have been admiring and helping. I want to twist that damned cat's head off right now, but no, he was just trying to give a gift to me. I want to make him stay outside in the 15 degree F weather tonite.
But no, he's done the best thing for his steward (me) and it's simply unfortunate that some bird has lost its mate. I can only shed tear for the Cardinals.

That time of year
Posted 6 years agoWelp, it's about time of the year when I haul out one of my fave sayings. I understand it's from W.C. Fields...
"God invented February so that tee-totalers would know what a hangover was like."
"God invented February so that tee-totalers would know what a hangover was like."
No Anthrocon for me.
Posted 6 years agoI was unable to get a room for Anthrocon, so I've decided not to go. Although I usually have a lot of fun, this year I think we're gonna make a different adventure out of the 4th. Who knows? Maybe Maine, or West Virginia, we'll figure it out later.
blue period
Posted 6 years agoI am feeling very low as of late.
This usually occurs in January and February, due to winter and weather.
This year its very bad, I have lost interest in a lot of activity, feel nervous, and I can be rather irritable.
I'll get over it eventually.

Happy 2019?
Posted 6 years agoSo far 2019 has not treated me too well. Not badly, but umh, not good.
New Years day was spent mostly in bed, as I had an arthritis flare, and walking was painful. It took me a day or two to overcome that. Weather wasn't too good either.
Same thing happened by the 5th. Another arthritis attack, on my foot, this one much worse. I spent the whole weekend either in bed upstairs, or laying in front of the TV watching MASH and ST NG reruns, very boring. On the 9th I went into hospital where they found I had 'cellulitus' which I'd never heard of- It's a skin condition. Skin on the inflamed joint was a bright purple, painful, and very swollen. I've had this before, but not recently. The triggers are overindulgence, stress, and cold, wet, low barometric pressure weather. All three are in place this month.
As of today, Jan 12, I am doing much better. The pain's gone, and so is the swelling. But I'm down to a chicken and cardboard diet, no alcohol, and just staying inside, watching MASH and ST NG reruns. Well, at least I dug out my fave DVD's to watch, and I'm bringing an amp downstairs so's I can get back into playing guitar.
And I have a new favorite fantasy series to read and watch. For many years, I'd dismissed JK Rowling's 'Harry Potter' stuff as kiddy stories - which it is, but I lately find it damned good kiddy stuff, both the books and the Warner movies. I guess, sometimes it takes a bit of age to recognize young stuff as good...
Well, back to my 2 cats and the old dawg. The cats- Alex, he is a little pest, demands attention, but only when I'm busy with other stuff. Sylvie, she demands feeding at a constant 500g/hr rate, and is a fat blob of eat-and-sleep. Doggy Keeshaba, she is at my side always, and needs her leash walk on a tight schedule.
And then there's the Skwirl...
