Welcome to the Feral Secret Santa Project 2023!

As I type this, I'm busy stuffing Halloween decor back into storage for next year, while a turkey with a knife in its mouth is looking at me threateningly. But too bad, it's now November and it is time for this year's holiday shenanigans to begin! And what better way to do so than with a new round of Secret Santa to bring the feral community together and laugh at our own inability to properly wrap presents without opposable thumbs.

Typically the Secret Santa tradition is a fun holiday game where a small group of people get together and are randomly assigned to give gifts to each other in secret. For the Feral Secret Santa Project, we’ll be doing this game exclusively for the feral community (though folks of all shapes and sizes are welcome)!



The way this works is fairly straight-forward:

• Signups will run from November 1st through November 14th. Anyone interested in joining can click the entry form link below. No fees, watches, or favorites required!
Signups are now closed and participants have been assigned their Secret Santas!

• Once the deadline for signups has been reached, we will shuffle all names on the entry list around and randomly assign each participant to be the Secret Santa for someone else on the list. Only you and the event moderators will know who you’ve been assigned to. Everyone has now been assigned their "target" and the gift hunt has commenced!

• After all participants have been assigned to someone, they will have until December 25th to research their gift recipient, find a fitting holiday present, and anonymously deliver the gift to their assignee while waiting to see what their own Secret Santa has in store for them! Gifts can be anything from artwork, Steam games, animal charity donations, even items off of Amazon or more; your imagination is the limit!

And that’s basically it in a nutshell!


Last year we had over two dozen join in and have themselves a good time. Community events like this are always lots of fun and have a way of bringing folks together to end the year on a positive note. We can never really know what another person may have been going through throughout the year, but you would be amazed how even something as simple as a small gift from a stranger can bring a bit of joy to someone’s holidays. I'm late by a few months, but it's high time for a new raffle to celebrate getting 300 watchers on FurAffinity! Woo!

I'm not a popular person or socially skilled extrovert, I'm just a small-time commissioner who genuinely appreciates every single person who watches and faves my shenanigans. I get happy-flustered when someone casually mentions me in a chat, and still blush and giggle to myself when I see someone reposting my art somewhere I frequent. Maybe it's narcissism, maybe it's validation, but I want to thank everyone who is on this journey called life with me. <3

Here's how to participate:

If you win, feel free to offer any and all suggestions for what sort of scene you would like or what species you'd like to see my shape-shifting sona in (fox, stallion, werefox, lion, bear, etc). Just remember that I'm a homoflexible feral and I have final say in what gets drawn, so no requesting female cub Bayard or something super out of my norm. I'm flexible for a number of things, but its better to run limit-pushing ideas by me first before getting any kinky hopes up. XD

This is just a catch-all journal for things I need to, well, catch up on.

Firstly, I wanna apologize to anyone who reaches out to me or waits half a day at best for me to respond to a message. Some of you are already aware that I am notoriously slow because I work full-time in a retail environment and come home to take care of my real life partner. This means during the day I can sometimes glance at my phone and fav a pic or like a tweet that's sent my way, but usually don't have time to form a fully coherent and deserved response. I truly appreciate the friends willing to wait for this slow old fox to catch up, and thank every artist for their patience while waiting for feedback on commissions. <3

Secondly, about that new policy. Um, yeah. FA really dropped the ball on this one, and the worst part is that they really can't backtrack on it now without making things even worse. I can kinda see the good intentions behind what they may have been trying to do, but not only did they cause a lot of panic amongst feral artists, they practically doubled down on it in the attempts at clarification. This isn't even mentioning the absolutely poor timing of attempting to refine rules about minors, when certain states of the US are passing all sorts of draconian laws "for the protection of minors".

I could rant about it for a long while, but in the end there isn't a lot of good alternatives to FA and I already struggle to keep up with just this one site for uploading my commissions, so I won't be going anywhere just yet. From a glance, while I'm worried that smol fox may be a minor risk, there's nothing I have that can really be seen as ban-worthy (or at least that cannot be appealed to a hopefully less prejudiced moderator), so I'm likely in less danger of disappearing than other folks. I'll remove my FA+ though until such time as I'm convinced that my pokemon friends aren't getting banned simply for having a normal sized Eevee, and hope that anyone else who has one considers doing the same.

Lastly, I promised a raffle! Now that I'm settled into my new fox den, it's high time I get off my fluffy butt and find an artist for it. I'll sniff around to see who is available, but will absolutely welcome any suggestions for newer artists or people needing the funds. ^^

So like, a week ago I checked out of curiosity and was surprised that I was like 10 watchers away from the 300 milestone. I'm not the most active of people because of my job, but I made a mental note to myself to keep an eye on the number of new watchers when I upload the next batch of fox commissions.

And then I checked today and realized I'm already past 300?! What the fox?! When?! How?!

I believe I promised another raffle when I hit that milestone, so once I'm done with IRL moving shenanigans, I'll work my magic to get a new raffle underway. ^^

Impulse new year's raffle to start the year off! Woo!

A lot of people joke about new years resolutions being silly and quickly abandoned come January 2nd, but I like to make simple, easy-to-achieve goals and think of them as self affirmations to improve in little ways. For example, 2022's goal was to try to be more open about sharing/uploading art with other people instead of being socially inept or hiding what I'm into out of fear. Seeing how I nearly doubled the number of art uploads this past year instead of keeping them in my own private collection, I'd say I hit that goal!

For 2023, my resolution will be to get commissions more frequently rather than relying mostly on YCH's for creativity. Doesn't have to be a lot of commissions or forgoing YCH's or anything, just a goal to come up with ideas more than in the past and pushing myself to be less shy about reaching out to an artist with them. And to get a head start on that, I'm gonna host a quick New Year's raffle for a commission with my character and yours!


Here's how it's gonna work:

* As most raffles go, entrants simply have to be watching me to be eligible. New watchers are welcome (unless you have a suspiciously empty account), and obviously unwatching afterwards blocks you from any further events. Don't be a dick.

* The winner will get treated to a commission with your own character and mine. The actual artist, exact scene, and SFW/NSFW is all to be determined after the winner is picked so that I can choose an artist good with the winner's species. If you win, feel free to offer some suggestions for what sort of scene you would like or what species you'd like to see my shape-shifting sona in (fox, stallion, werefox, lion, bear, etc). Just remember that I'm a lil' gay feral and I have final say in what gets drawn, so no requesting female cub Bayard or something way out of my norm. Ain't gonna happen. XD

* Comment to this journal with your own New Year's resolution for 2023 and a link to your character's ref, and I'll (eventually) respond to assign you a raffle number. It doesn't have to be a complicated goal for a resolution, just something realistic that you'd like to see or do this year. :3

As the last few presents for the Feral Secret Santa Project get wrapped up and checked off, its always a good time to reflect on the positivity throughout the year. For me, my life this year in particular has been a roller coaster of emotions. Increased rent, job redundancy, financial strain, general mental health issues and more. But I also managed to turn the loss of my old position into a much better job promotion, budgeted out to turn financial strain into financial stability (with room to spare for more art than ever before, haha), and eased my social anxiety by realizing that I know more people who are happy to be friends with me than I've ever had before. There may have been rough times throughout the year, and probably will be rough times ahead, but even something as simple as giving a small but heartfelt gift can bring a bit of joy into someone's life. These little acts of positivity can have more effect than people may realize, and even for a brief moment brought someone a smile.

So whether you are a participant, a watcher, or just a stranger on the internet...

We are now two weeks from December 25th, and it's time to check in on everyone! I myself just recovered from being feverishly sick whilst being swamped with my work, so I apologize for any slow replies to messages. Some people have been awesome and have already handed off their present to their gift recipient, while many others have given me thumbs up on the current status of their gift's creation. You guys are amazing and you know who you are!

For the rest of us, this is a good time to remind everyone two important things for the actual giving part of the gift-giving:



Advice #1) The only time limit that everyone has is that they need to find and deliver their gift before December 25th. This means you are absolutely free to find and give your gift as early as you want, or you can wait until December 24th if you need extra time or wish to give your gift closer to the holidays. Some people have even asked me to deliver on their behalf on specific days due to timing. It's completely up to you for when you feel the time is right! Just keep in mind that even if you yourself give your gift fairly early, the Secret Santa working on your own gift might need a little more time, so please don't feel like you've been left out if you haven't received your own present just yet!

Advice #2) The best method of delivering a gift to your assigned recipient will vary depending on what you chose to give, and whether you wish to remain anonymous or not. If your gift is art or online gift card, then you can either ask me to provide them a link to the page if you want your identity kept secret, or you approach them directly to provide a link yourself if you don't mind introducing yourself. ANONYMITY IS OPTIONAL, you don't have to stay secret if you don't want to. If your gift is a Steam game, you'll in fact have to skip the anonymity and add them as a friend first, or else look into Steam keys if you wish to remain secret. Physical items shipped to an address work best with a tracking number, so that the person it is being shipped to can keep an eye out for any mysterious packages.



Whether you choose to deliver your present as secretly as a holiday ninja or offer it to them directly, just let me know when the time comes so that I can mark you off the list. And as always, I'm always willing to help if you need a helping paw or creative ideas. ^^

We will begin shuffling the names around and will be privately notifying each and every participant within the next 24 hours who they have been assigned to be the Secret Santa of. There's quite a large number of participants and it can take a bit to contact everyone, so don't panic if you haven't gotten a message yet!

After receiving the name and information of your gift recipient, the hunt begins! You're free to browse for games, shop their Amazon lists, look around for YCH's or sketch a drawing yourself, donate to animal charities in their name, and more; your imagination will be the limit!

It's my wish to see 2022 come to a close on a positive note by spreading some happiness, so I hope to see you all join in the fun!

I made it to 200 watchers on FA! Woo! It's only a small number of watchers compared to more active people, especially those who have been around as long as I have. But I'm very proud of this little milestone despite being a socially awkward commissioner, so thank you guys so much! ;-;

Twofold journal! Woo!

As I promised this time last year, I will be holding another free art raffle once I hit the 200 watcher mark! Some of my watchers have an account that is teasing me and apparently keeps getting deactivated and reactivated, meaning my count keeps going up and down at random? Either way, once I see that number bump up to 200 or more I'll start up the raffle. It's like three people away as of this journal, so it'll be a mystery until then! ^^

I also wanted to take a moment to apologize to all mutuals/friends/strangers-saying-hi and wind up waiting forever for a fox to respond. I realize I tend to be busy nearly all the time with either work or real life stuffs, so I'm not always active for people just wanting to chat or comment on a commission without having a long wait for a reply.
