Hello FA!
Posted 3 years agoOkay so I've been here for 15 or so years now. It's a site I check daily, though rarely post to. I've got lots of memories here from back when I was in highschool, but then basically radio silence since like 2008. I miss some of the friends I used to have, I hope they all turned out ok. Anyway, I've recently started actually using the tablet I bought on a whim like a year ago for like, actual art?? I'm pretty proud of what I've accomplished so far, and it's made me really happy to see what I'm able to create, even if it's stuff just for myself or a small audience. I hope to post more stuff in the future, and like, soon!! I think quitting my job really opened the floodgates as far as motivation to improve/make things goes.
See y'all soon!
See y'all soon!
I'm actually still lurking.
Posted 13 years agoUpdated my profile, cleaned up my most explicit of favorites, cleaned up my most cringiest of journals and submissions. Realized I haven't been really active since like 2008/2009.
Damn that was some cringe to go through.
I'm still around though, I just check submissions and stuff before I end up finding them on e621 or someplace. I do that about once a day. I only really check journals if they're by friends, I wish there was a way to filter, I give exactly zero shits about artist drama.

Oh wow.
Posted 14 years agoI haven't been here in a while. Sifted through like 300 submissions and like 150 journals.

Posted 15 years agoSo I had to drop my Japanese 4 class today because my other two classes were giving me just too much work. I'm really bummed, but Japanese was a "just for fun" thing, and wasn't required for my major. I'm going to continue self-studying in my free time with the rest of the textbook/workbook, but yeah, I need to really focus on my major now that I finally am taking upper division classes.
Suuuuper bummed... ; ;

I had a ton of fun, even though I was there for only 1 day! :(
Thank you
monoth and
satura and other people on here I may have bumped into!
Also Mykath, I forgot the name of the perverted Azumanga on crack you told me about, also could you send me a list of other anime that you think is worth watching? ._.

You know you're from Santa Cruz when...

1. Go to Google and type, "You know you're from (your city or state) when...." (hit "I'm feeling lucky")
2. Cut and paste the list.
3. Bold the items that apply to you (Just deleting the ones that don't apply)
You know The Pink Umbrella Man by name and you’ve waved/ had a conversation with him.
Sandals/bare feet are acceptable in any season.
You have been to a movie at the Rio/Del Mar theatre.
Your parents still refer to "Downtown" as the "Pacific Garden Mall".
You know that 'The Big Dipper', as everyone calls it, is actually called 'The Giant Dipper'.
You know where the "cookie outlet" is and you wouldn't dare tell a soul... especially not an out-of-towner. (weed cookies ;D)
You know the date of the National Pot Smoking day.
You have played in the tide pools.
You know that The Catalyst has nothing to do with Chemistry and you have been there or at least have walked by it.
You buy your books at Bookshop Santa Cruz or Logos.
The term "fish hook" has nothing to do with fishing.
You know that parking/driving downtown is a bitch.
You know where all the free parking lots are by heart and drive through them multiple times so you don't have to pay for parking.
You know what I’m talking about when I say "The big red ball thing that’s kinda by the only museum that is downtown that is fun to play on."
You are extremely entertained just by walking around downtown Santa Cruz and observing. It is clearly a productive way to spend your time.
You have attended at leased one show or performance by Cabrillo theatre/UCSC/Shakespeare Santa Cruz.
You have waited in line for the midnight movie at the Del Mar.
Banana slugs make you smile and not just because of UCSC, but because they are all over hiking trails!
(I left this on here to note that this is a TERRIBLE IDEA DON'T DO IT) You use your beach cruiser as a main form of transportation.
When tourists ask you where the beach is...you tell them kindly to take highway 1 north then merge onto 17 north… You can’t miss it. (That takes you out of the city and on a deathtrap of a highway toward San Jose)
You know there is WAY better coffee out there than Starbucks could ever provide you with.
At every restaurant there is a vegetarian, vegan, and/or organic part of the menu.
You walk into a shop not wearing shoes or a bra. Or at least have seen someone else do this.
You have bought an entire outfit or at least an article of clothing from one of the fine thrift stores Downtown.
You have been to Tacos Moreno... PERIOD! (some of the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten ever)
You know the Accordion Man and have seen his plethora of spandex outfits.
You know you can almost set your watch by the fog breaking before 1 pm.
You know who Oscar is.
You have been inside the Bookshop Santa Cruz and have bought something there.
You consider a 10 minute drive to get to a party is considered a barge.
You have gone to the Chocolat and have shared a large chocolate orgy with your friends. (took my gf there for Valentine's Day :D)
You know that Marianne's is the best ice cream place in town... no, THE WORLD!
You have signed a petition just to get the petitioner to stop hassling you.
You know that the pedestrians have the ride away and take that to your advantage. (FUCK THESE ASSHOLES)
You know you're from Santa Cruz when "right of way" is so meaningless to you that you call it "ride away". (FUCK)
Cross walks? Naw, you know you can cross anywhere you want. (DOUBLE FUCK)
You've gone to Saturn cafe for dessert sometime between 12 and 2 in the morning.
You have seen 'The Mystery Machine' driving around.
You have attended, seen, or walked in the Gay Pride Parade. (<3)
You know that surf bowl was a million times better than stupid boardwalk bowl.
You have come to realize that nude people are just a part of life... nothing peculiar.
You have an O'Neill Wetsuit. (rashguard actually)
You're shocked that other people litter and don't give a shit.
You are a witch or know at least five people who claim to be witches. (the 5 people thing)
You have had something delicious at the Crepe Place. (jambalaya crepe omg)
You watch the surfers wipe out on the waves and are sadly entertained or are the one wiping out and are just as entertained.
You have been blessed by a bum.
You want to "Keep Santa Cruz Weird".
You know all the closest local cafes and avoid Starbucks at all costs.
I want to do one for San Diego but I feel that'd be overzealous.
EDIT: Adding this one I found on the San Diego list because I swear by it:
~If the menu doesn't have California burritos on it, forget it, its not real Mexican food~
Mexican food above the panhandle longitude is GUARANTEED shit.

358/2 Days
Posted 16 years agoJust got it yesterday. It's pretty fun, the storyline so far (I'm still at the beginning) is "meh" but we'll see how it picks up. The game plays just like all the other KH console games except CoM (so glad I don't have to deal with those fucking cards). The only issue I'm having is with the camera, but I'll get used to it I guess.
More about it later as I progress through it a bit more.

Just saw Avatar...
Posted 16 years agoHOLYSHIT
This movie was kinda fucking awesome! It's basically Pocahontas with aliens but I didn't fucking care because it was AMAAAAZING. This might have been just the caffeine in me but I was getting involuntary leg spasms throughout the entire movie.
If you go see it, please please don't let this review be what you base your experience on, judge for yourself.

I despise Twilight but...
Posted 16 years agoJacob is fucking sexy. If Bella had ended up with Jacob and not Edward the series would be marginally less terrible than it is.

Posted 16 years agoI'm going to be gone for a full week because I'm moving into my apartment tomorrow (today? o_O) and it won't get internet set up until the 17th. That's almost a full week without internet. Here's how it's going to go:
Day 1 without Internet: I miss Internet.
...
...
Day 5 without Internet: HOLY SHIT. MUST. FINISH. FMA. MARATHON.
Day 6 without Internet: METAL GEAR! fkjfjgklkfflfghjlkflhlfklfjhflghkldfk
Wish me luck.
Also, saw Inglorious Basterds. What a fucking amazing movie.

About conventions
Posted 16 years agoSo I can't go to Kunori Con th is year D:. It's just not in the cards right now, what with all this housing shitstorm that's been going down.
However, due to my friend having to go to a surprise wedding, I can take his ticket to BlizzCon! So that should be exciting.
So, sorry to everyone whom I would have met up with at Kumori Con. Shooting for next year. :/

*bounces around*
I've missed you Internet!
And guess what happened! :< Shit hit the fan on our house lease. So, long story short, my "friend" Grant whom I would have been living with was going to be paying two shares of rent because he was going to be bringing his GF with him who's family is not so well off financially (and her dad is an abusive meth head). Well, he just bailed. AFTER we had fucking signed the lease. He said "I felt like it wasn't fair!" Bullshit. He hadn't even told his parents he'd be paying for his GF, even though he swore he did! And we he finally did tell them, his parents were all "Fuck that shit!" So basically he was tossing around money he didn't even have and thus fucked us all over. My GF and the other girl we'd be living with tore his head off when he told them, and I'm just not speaking to him.
The issue is that without the rent being divvied up five ways, one of the girls can't afford the rent split 4 ways. So.. we're looking for subletters that this point.
And Grant was one of my only close friends I made at college.
This fucking blows.

Going to Oregon derp.
Posted 16 years agoSo my mom is flying me up for a 3 day weekend so I can go to Seaside with them. I'll be up there on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of July.
Summer Plans
Posted 16 years agoSo I'm taking a Calculus 2 and an Ethics class at Mesa College in order to free up space for myself to take Japanese all next year at UCSC.
So this means I'm not going to Oregon with my family. And as of now, I -might- not be going to Oregon at the end of August (which would mean no Kumori Con D: ). Instead, I might be going to Burning Man with my GF, but it's still undecided.
That's all for now.

Posted 16 years agoSo.... I might be taking this physics class over the summer... which might cut into my Oregon vacation... which might mean I'm not going... which might open up a time slot for me to go up there around the time of KumoriCon....
But that's far from official at this point.
ALSOS!
My girlfriend knows and actually enjoys that I'm a furry. Also all of my college friends know I'm a furry. Also, turns out this one girl who I had been friends with since the beginning of last quarter is ALSO a furry!! I was like "uuuWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHT!?"
Soon they'll all be furries. >:3 WAHAHA!

ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH
Posted 17 years agoSo I just finished an off and on semi-marathon of Gurren Lagann. I had stopped watching for like a month after episode 8. I mean, you just don't kill one of the best characters of ALL TIME and expect me to keep watching the show.
But I finally decided to keep going, and I was not disappointed. It was an extremely good anime, even though I don't really care for the Super Robot genre (much more of a Real Robot fan). Regardless, even though it got completely ridiculous and weird toward the end, I found myself completely engaged. I guess the weirdness can be attributed to the fact that they were in a dimension where the Anti-Spirals controlled everything down to the laws of probability.
Okay, enough with the stylized banter. This show was fucking awesome.

ZOMBIE MOVIE HOLY SHIT
Posted 17 years agoSo as my senior project last year I got together with a group of my friends and together we filmed a ZOMBIE MOVIE! :D
It takes place in our school during a LAN Party and we play ourselves.
Apologies:
-I'm a horrible actor and couldn't keep a straight face, some of the scenes were so cheesily funny.
-The overall plot, acting, ending, and quality of the movie would have been better if we were giving multiple nights to film. As it was, we were only given one because none of the teachers wanted to chaperon more than one night. We had to change the script to allow for time constraints, and it didn't end up with the ending I originally wrote.
-The music was done by me and was done DAY OF when the final copy was due. We were all like "Looks good... OH SHIT MUSIC!" If we had not had our heads up our asses the sound quality would have been more bearable.
This movie won the award for Best Overall Film of the senior class and was used as an example for this year's senior class.
Part I:

Part II:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vnk-M3FDv5c
Again, I'm sorry for the horrible acting on my part.
