I got stuff and things
Posted 17 years agoSo I got everything I asked for on my Christmas list AND MORE! :D
I got a new phone (a Samsung Juke) and an iPod Touch! :O I was all upset because I don't really like iPods and wanted a Zune, but the thing is kinda growing on me, plus it has my name etched into the back of it! I guess it pays to have a rich Aunt and Uncle (they got one for me and my two sisters each).
Add another $195 bucks from relatives and stuff, and waBAM: awesome haul.
I'm off to build some models I got. :D
Merry Christmas!

Dissidia
Posted 17 years agoSo I torrented Dissidia today, and have been playing it non stop all afternoon. I must say it's an excellent game, and the battle system is so hilariously overdone (think Advent Children combat) that it's completely awesome. The music is great, it's good to hear new mixes of old favorites. I think my best character right now is Onion Knight, with my second best being Butz or Zidane. I haven't unlocked Shantotto though, but she'll probably be my main (FFXI Tarutaru powah! O-hohoho~!) The combat system is a bit confusing, but it's probably because I don't know enough Japanese to figure out how to activate special abilities and stuff.
I also found out I passed all my classes this quarter! I was really getting worried about Calculus for a sec.
Let's see, next quarter I'm taking:
Intro to Java
Foundations in Game Design
3D Art Foundations
Gonna be a fun quarter hopefully.
Oooh, and my Christmas wish list:
Left 4 Dead
Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories
An FFXI Blue Mage shirt from some Cafepress store
Some Gundam models (HG 1/144 Cherudim and GN-X III for those who care)
A Zune (fuckoff iPods)
Quite a tall order. :3
And now I've just clicked the Hot Cider ad at the bottom of the page and am drooling over some of the things I see for sale inside.

F-18 Crash
Posted 17 years agoSo you may have heard it on the news, but an F-18 experienced engine failure and the pilot was forced to eject. The abandoned plane fell right into my neighborhood, destroying the three houses across the street from me and killing an entire family. It also destroyed my car, my motorhome, and severely damaged my next door neighbor's property. No one was home at the time except for my cat, and she's safe at least. There's half a plane in my driveway, and my house did get smoked up pretty bad, but nothing is permanently destroyed. Just wanted to let you know that me and my family are fine, and nothing of value was lost.
But man, a plane from fucking nowhere. So it goes...
EDIT: Pics here:

Read the picture descriptions, they explain some stuff.

It's like I've found a piece of this great puzzle we call the Universe.
I mean, think about how amazing this is. These are three completely separate values having nothing to do with each other, yet all are very important. We have π (pi) which is the ratio of a circle's circumference and it's diameter. We have e, Euler's number, the inverse of the natural logarithm (ln) and its own derivative when raised to the x power. Lastly, we have i, an imaginary number (the square root of a negative number), which is just un-imaginary enough to be factored into certain calculations.
These numbers were discovered at different times, and they fulfill different purposes, yet they can come together in such a way to produce -1. Simply amazing.
Marijuana is awesome.

Blizzcon was awesome
Posted 17 years agoSo I went to Blizzcon this weekend. I stay with one of my friends in UC Irvine (the one I baked the Portal cake for) and my other friend flew in from UC Berkeley (whereas I walked/bused/trained down there). From these we drove to Anaheim on both Friday and Saturday to get to the convention. It kicked so much ass. WoWtards aside, Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2 were beautiful. To anyone who complained that the graphics of each of these games were too cartoony, they completely chunked out SC2 to make it look darker and more techy. In Diablo 3, they darkened it a whole bunch and added lots of blood. I played both games many many times over the weekend.
Also, I am an official beta tester for StarCraft 2. Yup, they were giving away the beta keys with every registration.
One more thing: If you every want an explosion of flavor in your mouth, try Kettle Chips: Spicy Thai flavor. They're sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami, and spicy. But most of all spicy. I am very impressed by them.

Woes...
Posted 17 years agoSo all was going well on my college internet connection, until they started to enforce their shitty policies. I was forced to download and install Cisco Clean Access Agent in order to make sure my computer was "clean" and so they can actually let me use there network. Problem is, IT WON'T FUCKING INSTALL! It gives me an error message. Every time. I've been working on a solution to this since yesterday at 4:00ish. Still can't get it to work (I've tried nearly everything imaginable).
I can use ONLY the Internet due to the wifi system here, but the wifi system blocks game connections. No no FFXI, TF2, or Starcraft for me until I can get ahold of a competent IT guy.
Also...
I feel like I'm wasting my college experience. No one on my dorm floor shares my interests. I stay in my room playing video games and watching animu. This place is too large to find friends easily, and after having been here a week, everyone seems to have already formed their own niches, and I feel unwelcome even trying to talk to people. I'm feeling very ronery.

Posted 17 years agoSo I got a new tablet, right? I set it up, and try to use it. Nothing. I've done everything in my power to try and get this piece of shit to work, and nothing. This thing cost me $80! It's a Hanvon 0608, and as I'm looking through the instructions, it's all written in engrish, and the tech support website is in Chinese, and apparently Hanvon is a subset of the REAL company, HanWang. Fucking China! One of the myriad of reasons I hate China is the lack of quality they put into things, ESPECIALLY electronics. Motherfucking China....
Apparently this tablet works fine on Macs, Vista 64bt, and Xp, BUT NOOOOOOOO, not Vista 32 bit. So now I'm out $80 and trying to sell this thing to people on my dorm floor.
Moral of the story, FUCK CHINA

Kumoricon was a blast, went by so quick, sad it's over, I'm tired. We met people, made friends with awesome furries, and watched yaoi and raved and stuffs.
I have been motivated to draw more by seeing both Mykath and Satura draw awesomeness right next to me, with me going "OMG *stare~*."
I also realised I'm very anecdotal. To Mykath, Satura, and Worm, I'm sorry if I told way too many tangent stories and talked a lot. I can only hope you were more entertained than annoyed, but I get like that when I talk face to face with friends I get to see rarely.
And now, sleep tiem.
*Haro~! Haro~!*

Posted 17 years agoI am going! My grandma gave me her frequent flyer miles to come up a week early and hang out with family. We might be going to Ten Mile Lake down near Coos Bay, so that'll be awesome (even if Coos Bay is redneck central).
Tomorrow I begin work on my Baku costume. Mykath, Satura, and I are doing Zidane, Blank, and Baku respectfully. It's going to be awesome.

Thoughts of the moment.
Posted 17 years agoI got some cool stuff from my birthday party. I got Diablo II, some money, a Slusho T-shirt (a size too small, but meh), a couple of logic puzzle books (love that stuff), and Metal Gear Solid Collectors Pack, containing the first 3 games (because I haven't played them yet!) I also got a really cool wrapping paper drawing from Carrie and Alex; it's a drawing of all of us in our "usual" group, only cartoony.
This brings me to my next thing, something I've been feeling down about. We're all leaving next year. All of us in the drawing are going to completely separate places for college. With one month of school left, it's just popped into my head after everyone was gone from the all night party. Maybe it's because I was tired, and maybe it's because I'm still tired, but I'm just really mopey because of it. Not even my birthday nearly a day away excites me.
Next thing, also has me down: 18. It's such an overwhelming feeling, knowing that I am not a kid anymore. Being "legal" just hit me in the face also right after the party. And the ever looming aspect of leaving and seeing everyone once, maybe twice a year.
Ugghh... it all sucks. Except for the party. That was fun. Thanks guys.

Sorry I've been dead.
Posted 17 years agoSo prom was last night, and while it was pretty uneventful, Maddie and I started actually talking in meaningful conversation when we went to this one all night diner at 1:00 AM after prom. Note to self: Reminiscing about cartoons of the past (especially Disney) is a good way to hold a conversation.
Earlier yesterday morning I had to take a writing placement exam for the UC school system. It was a 2 hour long essay writing session. I was dreading it. However, the prompt ending up being "Read this excerpt from a book and respond to it." The excerpt? From some guy's book on why the Internet is stupid. I shredded his argument with logic like all good anti-trolls should. I kicked it's ass.
Birthday's comming up. My Grandma got me a laptop for my birthday/graduation like she promised she would last year. I ordered it and it's in the mail. It's a read Dell XPS with all the best stuff in it. 4GB RAM, 256MB 8600 video card, 160GB 7200RPM HDD, 15.4" HD Hi res screen, kickass processor (forget name), and Vista Ultimate (so I can type in Japanese). I'm stoked.
I'm not dead though! I've just had a busy weekend!
Also, my Moonspeak self study is going well. ぼくわはやくわかりました!

Posted 17 years agoPlace sucks. Don't do it.
As far as the Robotics tourney goes, I'm very disappointed and upset about it. First of all, the FTC division (my division, smaller bots) was complete bollocks compared to the FRC division (large, expensive bots). We got one big screen out of the entire SIX in the fucking GEORGIA DOME, and there were FOUR fucking fields for that one screen, making it impossible to tell what the fuck was going on. There were programing delays, and George H.W. Bush came (to speak to the FRC teams, while we FTC weren't allowed in) and eventually the FTC schedule was behind by an hour and a half, making me a tired and hungry lion by the end of the day. Also, the overall spirit of the FTC teams in the stands was PITIFUL. Absolutely fucking lethargic when compared to the FRC teams. During the finals, there were very few people other than team members in the stands. The lights were on in the Dome, and janitors were cleaning. People weren't cheering wildly, and whenever a team won (which was impossible to fucking tell when because the scoring wasn't done live) people would clap. Golf clap. When the winner was announced, people were like "Wooooo...." and got up to leave. Cut to the FRC finals. The Dome's lights are off. Loud techno is blaring, multicolor stage lights are waving, the field is illuminated, and HALF THE STADIUM is full of cheering people. The teams had dancing mascots in fursuits. I had to wear earplugs it was so loud.
Here's what pissed me off the most this weekend. The FTC fields were surrounded by red shag carpet. I. SHIT. YOU. NOT. There was so much static that I couldn't walk two feet without building up enough static to violently shock someone else. The caused SO much radio interference and technical difficulties with the robots, yet the refs were completely oblivious to it. All the training for the past months was rent asunder by fucking CARPET! The static eventual fried out bot's processor, leaving it only able to twitch, thus we lost.
Fuck. This. Shit.

Posted 17 years ago-Matter one-
Comic Con 08 cosplay:
I'm dressing up again this year. Instead of reusing my Organization XIII cloak or my Aperture Science costume, I'm going to make a new one. Problem is, I can't decide.
Aldebert Steiner (Final Fantasy IX)
or
Merchant (Resident Evil 4)
Pros and cons for each costume:
-Steiner: I can act his personality very well, all the way down to his signature running style. :P However, he wears armor, and armor is hard to make (just ask my buddy at school who goes to ren-fairs).
-Merchant: I can do his voice very well. Costume, after some review, is harder than you'd think. Also, it's been done (just watch Mega 64 [filmed in San Diego, btw]).
I need to know soon, because if I'm going to do Steiner, I need to start on the costume now.
-Matter two-
Prom:
I have a HORRRRRRRIBLE time talking to girls about romantic stuff, and Maddie came up to me and asked what I wanted to do before prom in order to get to know her more, she said we don't talk much (of course, because I feel awkward). Where should I take her?
And so that's what's bothering me.

Also, Gundam 00 is awesome. My friend turned me onto it when we were in Japan, and I liked it so much I bought 3 1:100 scale models. Lots of fun.
Also, going to Atlanta next week for another robotics world championship. That'll be..... fun...
