How can I call myself an artist? (G)

I can't even follow the steps in a silly disney drawing book.
Of course, I don't like following the "right" way to do something, which might be the problem, but still.
I figured once i could draw it the way the Disney artists draw it, then I could start incorporating my own thing, and I could draw my own characters better. but I don't know where I'm going with this...
Still, I should be able to follow directions...
