Ganked this from
boonanaking! I though it would help all my lovely watchers learn something about me, since I just joined FA. ^_^
OKGO!
- When did you start drawing?
I've always been drawing. But I started drawing people in 1998, when I was 12.
- Which hand do you use for drawing?
Right.
- Which is easier to draw - male or female?
Overall, female. I loves my girly girls. I have improved at males by leaps and bounds from a few years ago, however.
- Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
Both are easy to draw, but shorter hair is easier to render in my coloring style.
- Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
I used to draw one better than the other, but they're both equal now.
- Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
Front, by a small margin.
- What do you have problems in drawing?
Men, sometimes. High detailed mechanical things, like mecha, machines. etc.
- What do you like to draw?
Badass, beautiful women who are not rail-thin.
- Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
Mostly digital, but I always start with pencil sketches.
- Where do you start drawing from?
The head. If it's a complicated pose, then I do a stick-figure of the pose and build up on it.
- What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
I'm very meticulous about making sure colors match between pages of my comic. I have a swatches file for all my characters' colors, and I always use the same few palette colors to paint backgrounds.
- Any tips for coloring/shading?
Less is more. Don't overwork your pieces.
- How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
A single character sketch can be drawn in 30 minutes and colored in an hour or less. A full comic page takes me, on average, 4 hours.
- What music do you listen to while you draw?
Lately, I've been putting on DVDs for background noise, but when I do listen to music, I don't often listen to any one thing in particular. If the mood strikes me, I will listen to Muse while I work on Garanos.
- How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
Ideas come from everywhere and strike you without notice, so it really varies. I have an idea I've been working on for 11 years, and I have ideas that go from a thought to a drawing immediately.
- Your favorite drawing utensils?
Pencil, plastic eraser, and Wacom Bamboo tablet.
- Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
My favorite color is purple, but I use all sorts of colors often.
- Your favorite style(s)?
I prefer lineless. I don't like inking, and was never that good at it, so one day I developed my current lineart-free style. The works of Ian McConville have had a large influence on my artwork.
- Are you satisfied with your current art?
Quite. But I look forward to constantly improving and evolving.
- What kind of artist are you aiming for?
The awesome kind.
