To whom it may concern (or even care), I will be deleting my account soon.
The level of support and endorsement for political violence on this platform regarding Charlie Kirk (or anyone for that matter) is something that I cannot stand for.
It's sad. I had hoped that this platform would be an "escape" from the facets of life, something that I could use to relieve some stress, but the comments that I am seeing of people rejoicing over a person's demise sickens me.
If you don't agree with someone, fine! That's your right to your opinion. But as soon as you long for that certain someone to be brutally murdered, that's beyond fucked up.
As much as I hate the endless spew of CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, CBS, The View, and many other social networking sites, I would never want their hosts or directors or even guests to be shot, stabbed, or burned at the stake.
"Why?" you may ask. "If you hate what they do, why don't you want them to shut up, permanently?"
The answer is two-fold: first, cold-blooded murder will not solve anything, it only creates more hurt, suffering, and problems. Second, even if (and I stress, if) this were to occur, would I feel any better? Of course not. If anything, I would feel more hollow and empty than when they were alive, thus defeating the purpose of committing this crime!
In conclusion, if you find yourself gladdened by the murder of Charlie Kirk and the suffering of his family, I encourage you to take a long, hard look in the mirror and see if you can find it within yourself to feel the slightest form of pity for another person, even one whom you hate.
Then again, I think that empathy and shame have left this world a long time ago.
Thank you for bearing with me through this journal. It's been fun, but all good things must come to an end, I suppose.
P.S.: To all those who have condemned the killing, and have posted it in a Journal or online, no matter where: you have my unconditional respect and admiration. You are braver than I am. Please do not fret about the backlash you'll invariably receive, those who attack you are mere "men of Belial" or people whose lack of character and even basic empathy or compassion makes them emotionally worthless. It is my earnest hope that we can all inevitably see past "Right" or "Left", but this seems hopeless at this rate, unfortunately.
