Stuff going on

I hardly use FA, which is why I'm putting this here, instead of FB or something (Though to be fair I don't really use those much either). I guess because I really like the furry community, on the whole anyway.
October 23rd. At night. I don't remember if I was going to sleep, wasn't feeling 100% or what, but I was asleep at the time. That's when I was awakened by my lion. He said the police were here, which freaked me out. I hurriedly threw on clothes, and answered the door to find a lady there, with a guy, flanked by two officers. Immediately she reassured me by saying that I wasn't in trouble or anything...which put me at ease though just confused me more.
She told me that my dad was dead. Apparently, he'd been in the hospital for about a month, and hadn't even told me. It was a friday. I remember needing a new battery for my phone, since it hadn't been working. It had just come in wednesday, and I texted him saying that, saying hi, etc. He just said hi, ok, all that. Never indicating anything was wrong. He texted me wednesday or thursday to call him, as he does at times. I tried to call him friday at around noon. He called me back but I missed the call. then a couple hours later when I noticed it, I called him back but he missed me for some reason. I figured: Oh well. I'll talk to him tomorrow. It hasn't been real or accepted about half the time. I feel that I should call him up with whatever development is happening in my life, then I remember. Or I go to or see Jack in the Box. We always used to get that when I was young and went over to his place. He was rather poor. But he always had a steady income. We always went to the grocery store when I came over, then to Jack. He liked jumbo jacks and the 2 for $1 tacos, or breakfast jacks. I liked big texas cheeseburgers or the ultimate cheeseburger (Still do). I'd always call or text him fairly frequently, a few times a month, even if it's just (and it usually was) 5 or 10 minutes or just a few lines. A question, saying hi, saying something that happened, things like that.
SOMETHING good did happen from this though, ironically enough. For the past few years I've been receiving SSI, which is $733/month. I just started getting a job, since August-ish, at utest. It's a work from home, QA stuff, website. Income is very volatile, but so far I've been getting anywhere from $200-$500 per month, which is a nice boost. The main thing though, is, SSI goes down when one makes money. If I made $300, I'd end up getting (in 2 months from when I reported it) (733-160=573) + 300 from income = 873 . IE: More than I'd make on SSI alone but not as big a boost if it didn't go down, obviously. It does make any gain feel not as significant. So, due to an error, I'd been getting $733 till November. I'll owe them a couple hundred dollars but that's okay. This month, December, I got $733 + $255. the $255 is a burial allowance. I was surprised that I got the full $733, and even more when it was a bonus. I had applied for SSDI (disability income) a few weeks ago, and was approved. It's because A) I have a disability and B) My dad was receiving it, and he died. The main difference is that: It doesn't go down if I make money, so I can make...$1650 (normally $1000, but blind people have a different income limit) before it shuts off...and I'll be getting $942/month.
So the difference is, at $300 in a month - $873 vs $1242, a net of $400 a month.
My dad gave that to me. It's because of him. $400 might not seem like a lot to some people, but it is a lot to me. I'd live on nothing if it meant my dad could come back. Death is stupid. There is (a) one potential solution. Cryonics. I'd been looking into it. The biggest company, Alcor, is $80,000 for the brain or $200,000 for the whole body. While that is a lot of money, it can be written as the beneficiary for a life insurance policy, so that's what I'm going to do, and evangelize the use of cryonics among friends/family. If they'll listen, ok. If not, I tried. I would still have to pay $500/year, but that seems small in comparison to the big amount listed above. Let's do it.
