We have another bad Censorship bill to worry about.
The STOP HATE Act.
Don't let the name fool you, it's not good for most people.
Currently no text on the new version so keep an eye out!
A good article on the matter:
https://www.commondreams.org/news/a.....rael-criticism
Summary:
The "Stopping Terrorists Online Presence and Holding Accountable Tech Entities (STOP HATE) Act," (H.R. 6463), a bipartisan bill, seeks to address online antisemitism by requiring social media companies to moderate content designated as "terrorist" by the government and to report to the U.S. Attorney General, with daily fines for non-compliance. While proponents, including Representatives Josh Gottheimer and Don Bacon, and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), justify the bill by citing instances of antisemitic hate and calls for violence, critics argue that the broad definition of "antisemitism" used by the bill's sponsors and the ADL extends to encompass criticism of the State of Israel. Concerns have been raised by free speech advocates, including the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), that the legislation could lead to the censorship of criticism against Israel and grant "unfettered powers" to the government and pro-Israel groups in policing online content.
