Twitch Availability: Mon-Fri I work on freelance illustrations. Sat-Sun I work in forestry in Spring/Summer/Fall, and I do like to take weekends for myself as I work about 9-10 hours a day on client work. I can always be reached by email or Discord for emergencies/rush commissions, or if you need to cancel a commission for any reason. Thank you!

gen update, comms opening May 8th, health, new desk!, etc (G)
a day ago
Henlo!
So as I originally took April to work fully on back log pieces, (a comic, two image sets, some paintings... /some roast beef, some chicken, a pizza... *patrick star voice*) ...around mid March I started feeling not so great? Sort of chalked it up to the constant running around/events I had going. In like 4 weeks I had: A niece's bday, gf's bday, One Piece movie in theaters, bday dinner, trip with my uncles, cousin's bday, then into Easter--well not for nothing the fatigue seemed related to all that, as fun as it was.
But then April was nice and chill...and I got even worse. As the part timer has all but cut my hours, and with my freelancing and living in the us, I obviously can't like. Afford major healthcare beyond the free clinic out here in the country.
Turns out I was having liver problems. It really came to a head about 1.5 weeks ago and since then I've flipped my life around and started focusing on fixing that. Although I'm not 100% I am MUCH better than I was, even if I look back to February. It came on sort of slow in early winter, then got chalked up to my usual physical issues. I sort of got normalized to the problems unfortunately, since from Jan-Mar they seemed insidiously small. Mid April was when even my body was like 'hey bro this is not normal even for us.'
All this to say...I'm shockingly NOT as behind on art as I could be. But taking off April from new jobs was 100% what saved me mentally and physically. There's no plans to take off a whole month again, although my usual week off in June will happen...possibly two weeks, if I can swing it xD You know me, I need beach and swim time or my gills will dry up! No killers concert this summer, and though I may peace out on some Fridays, I think we're going to spend the summer saving as much as we can. Who the hell knows, the world seems to change by the day lately. Right now, just trying to live healthier and enjoy the rebuild of energy I'm getting from that. I sucked at taking care of myself for so many years, so what happened in Mar/Apr was definitely a year of bad habits catching up to me.
So! Commissions are opening next Friday as planned, on the 8th. As always, if you've commissioned me before, you are welcome to inquire about a reservation slot and we can discuss more. I'm planning 7-8 slots for now, but it may adjust. Health-wise I feel I'm on the mend unless something terrible happens--but I don't expect it too. Frankly, as awful as I felt, I'm also kind of relieved because what's been going on has been labeled reversible with intention. So far, that's been proved true. And it wasn't like I got so sick I had to STOP working on art. I just was incredibly slow during March there. ^^;
I am currently not taking any more image set/comic jobs until two of the three are done. You're welcome to ask for a slot for one so when I do get two of the three done, I can poke you and check in. They sort of exist outside the single job-work flow, but are still factored in. Image sets of three illustrations or less might be considered though~
I might do a YCH in June or July, but still waffling.
There's some new adopts in the folder, and all the older adopts are accounted for--so if it says they're still available, they are! https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery.....156/Adoptables
I got a new desk too! My cousin knew I was looking at it, but couldn't afford it yet. So after Easter she surprised me with it 😭 We measured it exactly so all I had to do was push it into place between the 2 walls and my main desk with the hutch. Gosh and it's level now and it doesn't make the monitor wobble when I erase! I'm obsessed with all the space I have. I hope to be able to make some more traditional art. You can peep it here :> https://charlieslowartsies.tumblr.c.....fectly-without
I got so lucky with my family, my Uncles are artists as well. Though the other side of my family doesn't quite get my career, they are nothing if not supportive and helpful and nothing showed me that more than my cousin casually buying me a whole ass desk.
I think that's it for stuff I wanted to toss into this journal!
Stay tuned and stay hydrated lovelies, those April showers are turning into flowers! <3
