Tears of salt, tears of coffee grounds, tears of fondant

There are tears of grief and sorrow,
As salty as the sea, twice as cold,
And a thousand times as overwhelming.
There are tears of hateful rancor,
Bitter as the dust at the bottom of a pit
Dug in a desert of spent coffee grounds.
But the tears that come right now are of relief and final contentment,
Sweet as a rising yellow creme egg fondant sun
Illuminating a crowd of upturned welcoming faces.
