Welcome to the Color Blind Alliance! This group was created by myself, SesameBun, for all the color blind furries and their supporters. When I first started doing anthro art, I kept the fact that I'm color blind (two types) a secret. It made me feel insecure, and I was afraid that people wouldn't take me as seriously because of it. Thanks to the color selector tool and a knowledge of the color wheel, I'm able to overcome the issue and have never had any complaints =3.

So many people incorrectly assume that color blindness means that you either can't see color, and by extension can't appreciate furry art, or see the world in black and white. This is fortunately untrue. There are three kinds of color blindness that a person can develop...
1. Monochromacy (total color blindness) -- Under this category exists rod monochromacy (an inability to distinguish colors), and cone monochromacy which is a total color blindness with normal vision.
2. Dichromacy -- This is an inability to see one of the three color mechanisms. Protanopia is a lack of red retinal photoreceptors, deuteranopia is a lack of green retinal photoreceptors, and tritanopia is a lack of blue retinal photoreceptors.
3. Trichromacy -- When spectral sensitivity of a cone is altered which impairs trichromacy (normal three-dimensional color vision). Protanomaly affects the red color receptors, deuteranomaly affects the green color receptors, and tritanomaly affects the blue color receptors.

How do you work around being color-blind? Usually it may not affect you too much, but some situations may require a more discerning eye.

i have trouble with colors that have similar shades.
dark colors tend to look black, light colors look white, and I can mistake blue and purple, and some oranges for red.
