The Mark of the Beast — Background (G)
For now, while I finish editing the chapters, I will devote some time to detailing aspects of the story that I may not explore directly.
Fenrris is a frozen planet inhabited by the race known as the lykans. Several centuries ago, the starship Argos arrived in their world. It was one of the vessels created by humanity in its early days, during the search to conquer the stars. It was an exploration ship that ventured into new systems with the goal of exploring and, if possible, establishing long-term colonies, leaving behind multiple stations operated by droids.
The Argos created new stellar maps and gathered information on several potentially habitable worlds, although their extreme conditions made the development of a prosperous colony unlikely.
The first interactions between humans and lykans were peaceful, leading to an agreement that allowed the creation of the first human colony on Fenrris. However, it was built far from any lykan civilization.
As the years passed, the human colonies were quick to establish trade with the lykans. The latter provided transport ships and machinery in exchange for human technology. Among the advances offered by humans was the ability to create farmland on sterile soil, as well as other technologies that were unknown and considerably advanced for the lykans.
After the creation of the second colony, Chronos, interaction between humans and lykans began to intensify. Exchanges ceased to be exclusively functional and expanded into commercial and cultural spheres. One such exchange was music and entertainment, as the starship, in addition to all the information gathered during its journey, carried the Ark: a copy containing hundreds of documents, music, books, photographs, and many other forms of knowledge originating from Terra.
