According to a closer friend of his, Karloon, an old-school fur, has passed.

In mid 1990-something, I found a couple of fatfur stories of his, probably on Avatar if anybody remembers that. Eventually I reached out to him to see if he had anything else, because at the time the internet was still young, and you could only find bits and pieces of things, on places like Avatar. He had several more stories, and art that I think he had done himself.

One thing led to another, and I put together a website on my personal computer in my dorm room and hosted his material, making a place that you could centrally find (some) fatfur material. And "Fatastic Furry Fantasies" was born.

I don't remember exactly what the cause was, but eventually we parted ways. He took his material and the site name. I did a rebrand and redesign, reached out to (and was reached out to by) other creators in the fatfur genre, and created a site called "The Round House". Maybe you've heard of it. People still talk about it now and then.

So there you have it. Karloon's writing set in motion something that became Very Much A Thing in my life. We weren't close, I hadn't even spoken with him in literal decades. But our paths crossed, and sometimes a common interest or a lack of accessibility can be the start of things.
