Hiya, I’m Faunic and I’m a western dragon! I’m not an artist (more a scientist to be honest) but I’m here anyway so it looks like you're stuck with me. I’m still an idiot though :V
I realised I should probably put some more info about me hmm... so I'm currently studying a degree in Mathematics, with the hopes of possibly doing a masters. I'm relatively new to the fandom (you can just look at the date I made my FA account) but due to my desire for cute art and a lack of things to spend my money on, I commission quite a lot of art :3 If you're an artist wanting to get some comms, someone who wants to get a joint comm, or just want a general chat, note me and come say hi! My discord is open to anyone and I'll give you my Telegram if you treat me nicely enough *wink wink*

Apparently its actually important I do this, since I've had several people add me on Discord from FA just to ask whether I was still alive, since my FA has been inactive for the last few years. Spoilers, I am not dead! I just stopped using FA, if you want to contact me, you can add me on Discord or follow me on Twitter (@Faunic2). :)
So since my last journal, Covid happened. Interestingly, my trip to San Francisco in Dec 2019 was only a week or two before that first cruise ship turned up in the Bay Area with the first covid cases in the US. In all honesty, the pandemic for me was a very easy experience - I was forced to finish my first year of university early with all exams cancelled, and spent 6 months living with my parents over the spring and summer of 2020. I was put on furlough from my part time job and got a bit of money from that. Then my degree was entirely online learning from Sep 2020 to Dec 2021, which for maths was just a bunch of pre-recorded lectures and interactive whiteboards. And also since most of my social circle at uni was with people I lived with, or the Esports society, nothing really changed for me socially, perks of being a g a m e r I guess.
I actually graduated last month, my final exams were May-June this year and I spent most early 2022 revising and preparing for them. They were tough, but I got the highest grade possible for my degree so I'm happy with the result! I've been chilling this summer, and then in a few weeks I'm gonna be starting a training course to become a maths teacher, which should be fun :D
Also during my exams this year, my grandad sadly passed away on 10th May 2022. It's the first time I've ever lost a family member whilst I've been alive, and it was a hard time, also the first time I've ever been to a funeral. I've made my peace with it and moved on, I'm just grateful for the time I had with him.
In terms of furry stuff, I've not really done much whilst at university: I've been to a handful of meetups, and helped set up a mini furry society for my uni, that only has 10-15 peeps in it. This month however I'm going to be going to Eurofurence in Berlin! It'll be a lot of fun hopefully, I haven't been to a proper convention since Anthrocon 2019. One thing that the pandemic really affected for me was travelling, since most of my furry friends are abroad. Flying to and from the UK has been impossible for the most part of 2020-2021, or at least with severe restrictions, so I only got to see bf a couple times, once in the UK last summer, and once in NYC this Easter just gone.
Overall, I know the last couple years have been weird and challenging for most people, but I feel I've gotten let off easy considering. Being at uni made me move away from the furry stuff a little bit, but I loved every experience there and I look forward to another year doing my postgrad course. Here's to the future of getting a good job and going rawr with friends in my free time :D
