!!COMMISSION CHANGES + UPDATES!!
Hey, hey, y'all. It's been a bit since the last few Journals, so let me get y'all up to speed.
1. For a long time, I was struggling to figure out the pricing method for my writing online. My services were always between friends/project acquaintances, so I never tried to adhere to anything specific, but it's important I value both my time and effort for how much the internet begs in my energy, and so, I'm sticking with €0.02 per word for the rest of the year. There's a chance this might rise slightly in 2026 due to inflation, but I want to try to stay affordable for everyone, and considerate for myself.
2. Likely the most interesting thing here, but I'll be experimenting with a little method for the rest of this year, and that's by only charging people for the amount of words used within a story. Let's say, you want a story in 3.5K words, but I have everything down as requested in just 3K. That means the remaining 500 words will not be accounted for in the payment, leaving you with spare change and a completed piece!
3. I am also no longer doing slots. I will be keeping my commissions open indefinitely. This is probably for the best as I'm still on the hunt for a job (I love being Maltese) and I'd imagine it leaves more room for anyone who would be interested in getting a piece from me.
4. Are you a fan of seeing the current progress behind my commissions? Well, you can check out my new Trello Page! Here I keep a list of all current commissions being worked on with different tags. Once they're done, they're off the board. Pretty slick and simple if I do say so.
5. Lastly, this is a detail that has since been removed from the last few posts, but I am no longer putting an increased price against anyone that wants an NSFW piece from me. Even though it's a genre I'm not as interested in, it felt a bit scummy to be charging extra for what was essentially 90% of my commissions anyway.
I suggest looking into my updated Terms of Service as it reflects these changes, and has seen a few adjustments.
I'm looking to expand on where I post my writing. SoFurry being down for as long as it has... has certainly put a dent in my online presence. Not like I care about being around on the net, but when your only option for rent comes from freelancing, you can imagine I'd like to branch out. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there's any better places on the internet given DeviantArt's degradation, Weasyl being dead in the water, and Inkbunny being home to AI and pedophilia. If anyone has a clue for where better to post as a writer, I'd love suggestions! I'm even open to joining a Discord server or too. Networking is probably important, but I've never dabbled in it since it just feels too much.
I'll be re-posting some old stories I've done with some tinkering to match the quality I'm capable of now. I've been a bit critical of some older pieces given how little I decided to bring back once I came on to Fur Affinity, but it's about time I consider that the worst critic is yourself. Given how popular some of these turned out to be... you really see a freak for anything, huh? No shame in that, of course! Just fascinating stuff.
I am using Discord as a means of communication with clients again. While I have no problem against some casual conversations every now and then during the process of the piece, I would like to preface that I'm only doing a service and don't plan to keep you as a friend once complete. I understand not everyone is weird/parasocial in that way, but I've had at least ~7 people like that and it's getting a little tiring. You're not trying to befriend the McDonald's cashier while they take your order, are you?
That's about all I have to say for this Journal. I'd love to hear feedback on the changes, or some thoughts regarding on where I can post to that's not already listed. Either way, I'm just rambling, so I'll cut this here.
Try not to get hit by a truck, nerds.
