Hey everyone, I want to bring this issue up because this is something that will affect us all.

Right now, the U.S. Congress is attempting to 1) push through a series of bills that require ID verification or otherwise censor the internet more than it already is and 2) repeal Section 230, which prevents websites from being considered publishers (getting rid of it encourages further censorship and surveillance).

They also will greatly endanger children and other vulnerable groups by putting their data at risk.

The website BadInternetBills has more information and ways to contact the people who can stop this. They will automatically call each of them for you and provide guidelines for what you should say (the call will begin when you enter your phone number, so I’d recommend having the website pulled up on a separate device to read from.

These and other bills have been stopped in the past but ONLY because we have made our disapproval known. We CAN still prevent this from happening.
