Hi, this is my new account (the previous one was
aicaz). I have to organize a lot of art stuff before anything will actually show up here.
Anyway I do mostly digital art, both CG and pixel-art, SFW and NSFW. My old pixelart gallery is at http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/1996.htm ; I might keep uploading PA there depending on how PA-friendly the interface is here.
I write software and I also do tutorials occasionally. I do some 3d stuff, mostly as an assistance for my main drawing activities.
I use MyPaint, Krita, GraFX2, GIMP, Blender, and Python for these various tasks, all of which are free, opensource, and highly recommended. I'd like to do more 'traditional' animation, but there isn't really a satisfactory tool available for that yet.
This profile should be fully up and running by May 15. I have accounts at deviantart (previous username is 'aicaz'), inkbunny, and youtube, same username, which I hope to also be doing stuff with by then.

MGC status (Apr 26 ..May 23) CONT May 24 .. Jun 7
12 years ago
Completed official 30day on the 23rd. Continued on the 24th, because having the routine and feeling I'm getting somewhere is awesome. Doing 15 more, which will bring me to June 7th.
Completed:
* 1 Harpy - good pose, wrong medium
* 2 Centaur - stiff pose, good anatomy
* 8 Octomaid - beginning to approach 'rendered enough', and acquiring a little character.
To revisit
* 3 Slime (did plenty of thumbnailing (18) and some material simulation work in Blender, but never got something good enough)
- good industriousness, needed better exploration methods.
* 4 Naga -- Just needs rendering, really. And fix that face, heh.
* 9 Demon -- never developed a satisfying concept.
* 10 Succubus -- some appealing designs, but nothing that actually clearly says 'succubus'
* 11 True Monster -- better art and concepts than ever before, but didn't work out something that I really thought solidly said 'true monster'.
* 12 Zombie -- fantastic thumbnail and no time to render. I still say WOOHOO! for the energy/togetherness of that thumbnail :)
* 13 Insect Girl -- got a few concepts for this down but didn't spend enough time on it -- busy with demolition again.
* 15 Dragon/Reptile girl -- some decent ideas but not enough of them; distracted by feeling of general emptiness.
* 16 Ghost -- happy with one of the concepts, but didn't finish it.
* 17 Robot -- I interpreted this as 'android', since I am not down with the whole 'concept-matching-by-accessory-only' found in Japanese MG. I have a satisfying sketch I'll put in Scraps once I can use the scanner again.
* 18 Alien -- got a decent character build, and ship design (the latter based off the description of the Super Happies' ship in Three Worlds Collide. Overall disappointed with my productivity though.
* 19 Cyclops -- got some proportions and a few concepts worked out, nothing that appealing.
* 20 Satyr -- Happy enough with this to upload to scraps; still waiting for VirtualBox to become functional again so I can scan, though. yaourt -Syu says an upgrade is available, tonight (@11.40); so I'll scan tomorrow. That will be a feat, scanning a day ;)
* 21 Canine Girl -- I continue to be horrified at my low, though improving, ability with faces. It's my best work in the series but I am not that satisfied. FACE FACE FACE. My opinion of it took a FACE to the FACE. (BTW, no scans forthcoming --except perhaps in a summary thumbnail-view of the whole series.)
* 22 Feline Girl -- Managed 7 concepts, with varying levels of anthroness. Nice range of ideas, some which might be worth rendering.
* 23 Youkai -- I did 6 concepts. Had to actually research here, I interpreted the descriptions as basically an excuse to draw creepy ghosts/possessions
* 24 Multiple limbs -- I went for caterpillars mostly; only 3 concepts completed.
* 25 Favorite MG -- I chose centaur, which is good because when I post a summary of the series it will be able to directly illustrate my improvement over 23 days (see #2, Centaur).
* 26 Favorite MG character -- Sucked. 'favorite' is like a swearword to me a lot of the time. I managed to draw 3 of Alice from MGQ though -- she's certainly distinctive.
* 27 Truly gruesome MG -- really challenging. I drew various ideas and eventually decided that the one that looks like a muscle-diagram made out of knotted tentacles is the only gruesome one (others involved maggots or proportion distortion.)
* 28 group of MGs -- I wanted to depict a family group, and managed only 2 thumbnails. More reference needed, methinks.
* 29 MG and her SO -- also pretty hard. Got two ideas sort of laid out. geez.
* 30 Celebrate MG -- rather ambiguous in meaning, I went with monster girls celebrating. Worked out a pool-party scene and a .. I guess it would be a birthday-party type of thing? A good exercise because I don't draw groups that much. This seemed a little easier than #29, though I'd like to have managed more output.
* EX a: Ogre: I'm getting to the point where I'm reasonably happy with my concept sketches. Both this and..
* EX b: Vampire: I appreciate all this practice with different body proportion/type.
* EX c: Incubus: Well, I got tired of doing just females.. decent results but need more volume of work, to get all the necessary characteristics in.
* EX d: Kobold: sorta interesting. I'm also currently bad at ugly faces and non-standard proportion, apparently. stumpy torso, long arms and legs.. interesting look actually, but not what I was going for :)
More details-work needed
* 3, 4
* 5 (Mermaid) -- I'd hope for something a little less cliche than the typical sea/coral background
* 6 Spidergirl -- I worked out a basic structure and clothes that work, but nothing tight enough to be satisfied even with uploading a sketch. Hopefully I'll manage to concentrate better in the following days when I don't have this demolition stuff to take care of too.
* 7 Plant girl -- After reading a bit of Vilppu, I realized a more comfortable method to make organic designs, so this is the most interesting so far. Still, time management issues -- I had a decent design and just plain didn't take the time to render it.
* 14 Dullahan - I have an interesting sketch of playing catch with heads, but mostly fatigue (much demolition today)
Thoughts:
* Apr26: so far, seems like a good way of getting myself to do a lot of related work aka 'project' mode. If and only IF I continue to post online about it in a place where people can see it.
* Apr28: Seems I don't manage to get enough information for a full picture worked out by the end of the day. For the time being I'll upload the favored sketch of the day, and work on including more information.
* May02: Still struggling to get everything done in a timely fashion.
* May04: Seeing significant improvements in process speed and quality. Have begun using a prompting system to help me write a little story for each thumbnail. Helps enormously with the coherence of the picture, and lets me try out loads of ideas without using up so much energy actually thumbnailing them. Also improves concepts unbelievably much :D
* May05: Consuming plenty of reference (as in, deconstructing and drawing it) seems to help immensely in getting creative functions firing better. Even if the reference has no obvious relation to the subject.
* May13: Hah, I see I'm crap at profiles. The good side of that is that I'm seeing super fast improvement initially now I'm working actively on it!
* May13: Also, am looking at creating a few tumblr accounts.
* May15: Changed my signature to be mapped into 3d -- I intended to help myself practice 3d stuff like volume and perspective on every sketch page, so far this is working well.
* May18: well my signatures are getting pretty spiffy, and volume seems to be leveling up too :)
* May23: Done! I realize I didn't 'finish' most of these, but I'm glad I polished up all sorts of skills -- composition, physics, construction, anatomy, using reference, faces.. In a month I'm considering doing this again but for monster *boys*, and targeting a 50+% completion (as in, proportions of rendered artwork, not just sketches) rate.
