¡PAX ET BONUM!
Thanks for visiting our page! Feel very welcomed to the franciscan community page here in FA.
But, who are the franciscans, you may ask? A franciscan is a member of one of the three religious orders founded by Saint Francis of Assisi between the years 1209 and 1221, or from the other religious movements founded inside our Church such as our brothers and sisters of Perpetual Adoration and Capuchins, although in this case it also may apply to any person who follows in any way the form of life of this italian ascetic man, considered the patron saint of animals and ecology because of his love for God's creatures, which he considered brothers and sisters; from the tiniest insect, to the Sun and other stars.

Who was St. Francis?
An affluent young merchant from the Italian town of Assisi, who in 1206 renounced his wealth and social status in favor of a life dedicated to God and the least of God’s people. Soon, other men and women joined him to begin a vast movement of Gospel renewal within the medieval Church.
Although St. Francis of Assisi began his life of penance as a hermit, devoting himself to prayer, working among lepers and rebuilding churches in the Assisi area, other men were soon attracted to his company. By 1209, there were 12 brothers, and so they approached Pope Innocent III to gain approval of their way of life “according to the Holy Gospel.”

Do we worship Francis? Absolutely not! As every catholic, we have as the center of our lifes the Almighty God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and in finding our pleasure and happiness in serving and loving.
We will be more than happy to answer any questions you have, as well as praying for any intention you send to us.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY: Weakness? (G)
(10th Sunday of the Ordinary Time.)
The texts for this Sunday are:
>Genesis 3, 9-15
>Psalm 129
>2 Corinthians 4, 13-5, 1
✠Mark 3, 20-35
____________________________________________________________________________________
An excuse for a lot of people for not following the Lord's word is that we are weak! How am I going to be a saint if being a saint means I have to stay inside home just praying or working on simple, tasteless things? (Which isn't true.) Or that being religious means staying repressed from all your desires and impulses. What kind of life is that? And at a first glance it seems to be the true thing, I mean, even the first passage gives us the story of how the mankind was doomed because of the disobedience and apparent weakness of Adam and Eve. Adam was convinced by Eve, and Eve was deceived by the devil.
The thing here is, that as we said the last Sunday, we are the Body of Christ, and apart from that, even if you are not baptized, you have been created in the image and likeness of God, as the Genesis also tells us, and if we are the living image of God himself, we can't be weak, and therefore, sin and evil aren't natural in us. Why do we are more likely to sin than to be saints then? Why are there so many cases of people, groups of people and even countries doing harm to other people? Why does sorrow and violence exist?
Living in the same plane as the devil exposes us to temptation, and we have to admit it, we're still humans and have a predisposition to sin, but that doesn't mean sin and disorderly conduct are natural in us. We have God on our side, and we don't have anything to fear if we put our confidence and souls on His hands through prayer and a sacramental life. You're strong! And you can defeat sin and even other ills with His help. After all, we can read just after the forbidden fruit story, the prophecy of a redemption: Jesus, that announces with confidence that when he gets gotten up, the evil will be defeated. And it was and continues being like that indeed.
Stay strong, for you are the image of God, and in Him resides your strenght. Because for the celestial things, strenght doesn't have the same definition for us. Sometimes being weak in the "world", is being strong in Heaven...
Hope you all have a fantastic and blessed week! Remember you can leave your prayer requests on the shout box and ask us whatever question you have.
