Needle felting is a technique which involves poking wool with barbed needle untill you reach the shape you want. 

The finall effect is a small woolen sculpture. :3

You art is STUNNING! I have tried needle felting and it was pretty difficult! Now, I just needle felt appliques on my crochet dolls and call it a day!:-P
