Depending on where you live, ‘Oriental’ may be a politically incorrect term used in place of ‘Asian’. For example, North Americans use the word ‘Asian’ to refer to people originating from East and Southeast Asian. Europeans use the word ‘Asian’ to refer to people of Indian and Pakistani descent, whereas ‘Oriental’ refers to East and Southeast Asians.

I am a Chinese Canadian and I don’t take any offense to the term ‘Oriental’ albeit used rarely. Plus, I think ‘Furientals’ is a way more hilarious name for a group than just ‘Asians’ (naming this group YellowFurs was a close second). But if you have an issue with the terminology, feel free to join  asians instead.

I have always been curious as to how many Asian/Oriental furries there are on FA, so this group was made in order to keep a list of that. So feel free to join and leave a shout about your background whether you are East or Southeast Asian.
