Hi, I'm Octavian. I've been an off-and-on member of a.g. since browsing through Netscape's newsreader back in '99. Mostly been a lurker due to not getting involved in a lot of the conversations. I've been to 3 Convergences so far: (Seattle, WA), (Portland, OR), and (Park City, UT) - and plan on going next June to Buffalo, NY. My fursonna is a white bengal tiger. Adult male Bengal tigers (Panthera tigris tigris) weigh about 220 kg (480 lb) and measure about 2.9 m (9.5 ft) in length. Females are slightly smaller with an average weight of 140 kg (300 lb) and 2.5 m (8 ft) in length.

I have been into gothic music since about 1998 or so. I made the transition from pop to hard rock and then to metal from middle school into high school, and then had a friend in high school who was really into gothic music so got introduced to some of my still-favorites like Siouxsie & the Banshees, Switchblade Symphony, Das Ich, and Einstürzende Neübauten. I went off to college with stars in my eyes of non-mainstream radio- and never looked back. I also do SCA (renaissance re-enactment) which I got introduce to about the same time funnily enough. The majority of my wardrobe consists of black, and velvet, sometimes both. I wear a lot of button-down short-sleeved polyester shirts with flames, dragons and tigers on them.

My interests involve some combination of the either the two named interests above, or Japanese culture. So things like shōdo, kenpo, iado, kendo, Italian fencing, boffer fighting, calligraphy, going to concerts or raves.

For the SCA, I have two primary personnas that I act out, one of a 4th c. Roman and one that is early 16th c. Italian. I mostly dress as a pirate, currently being the Scribe and Masseur of the Moca Sozinhia (a 16th Portugese Nau). I have recently been involved in fencing of the styles of Giacomo diGrasse and Achilles Marozzo, as well as brewing (specifically Blackberry Wine, though I also dabble in other fruit wines as well).

I do fetlife, facebook, myspace and livejournal, but really only do mobile posts through twitter anymore which I haven't been able to connect here but do go to FaceBook, which largely consists of concert updates for people close to Portland. You can find me on fetlife as octavian, and on all the rest using 'ctyger'. On livejournal I don't use that one anymore, and use 'inyou' instead due to a psycho-ex from high school... Interesting story on that username, I took the two kanji used for 'yin' and 'yang', along with more traditionally Japanese alternate readings, and made an interesting name. And now it is in you and you'll never be the same looking at a yin yang symbol.

I am in a open polyamourous relationship with my girlfriend Sigvalk. I am quite in to shibari and would be interested in anyone who would like to be a mentor in that and specifically in hojojutsu as well. Suspension and torture while suspended is one of my hobbies as well as knifeplay, scratching, breath play, and various other things.

In my spare time (ha ha) and at all of the events I go to, I tend to take photos. I am an amateur photographer with fancy equipment, and have been known to do TFP/TFCD for services/bartering to people that I know. I went to college from 99-03, and got a B.S. in C.S. and a B.S. in BS (philosophy). At the time, there was not anything for a masters-level degree in I.T. so I went to work using the base-jobs I had at the time, working as a lifeguard/swim instructor/aquatic fitness instructor as well as caring for others and working as direct care for adults with disabilities. It wasn't for another 3 1/2 years that I got the job I have had now for 3 years that is working in the IT department of a community college. I live and work about an hour south of Portland, OR and would like to move closer to (if not in) Portland, but at this time it isn't happening unless/until I get a job in Portland. I may not make what I am worth working here, but I do get paid decent and have decent benefits (and getting time off is fairly easy too!).
