Life can be rough
What a whirlwind of events in one go...
Last November, my father was diagnosed with stage 5 generalized cancer. They originally said he had maybe 3 months if we were lucky, because of how advanced it had gotten. We've been doing everything in our power to keep my father with us, and it's worked, he's truly stronger than we could ever imagine, as he's still with us and gaining weight back after being below critical. He's going through 2 chemo treatments every 2 weeks, and though his white blood cell count is low, he's still got color to his face and life in his eyes.
We have a maple syrup sugar shack together, and I'll need to take the reigns when the time comes, but I cannot imagine collecting maple water and boiling it without him with us, driving the skiidoo.
I'm in a really rough spot financially. I was an art teacher for 3 years for elementary-high school, and this year I was supposed to get a permanent position, but they decided to have me replaced with higher qualifications. I really thought this was going to be my career, I worked the best I could with what experience I had, but it wasn't enough. Now I'm sending resumes left and right, anywhere I can reach, but I can't get a call back. I applied for Employment Insurance, but they denied my claim, as I was just barely under the minimum hours needed to be accepted.
I've been slowly getting back into doing Anime and Gaming conventions as a table artist, but the earnings have been slow and I've had to rack up my visa quite a bit to stack up on inventory to get the ball rolling again. As much as I want to do more conventions, it's near impossible to get accepted to the bigger cons.
I also ended up needing to get a new vehicle so that my father had a means to leave our village with my old car, which was a bill I was originally ready to handle, but with losing my position as an art teacher, now it's gotten tight. I'm so lucky to have my husband, who recently got a full-time job to help keep us afloat, even with his student loans to take care of.
That being said, I've decided to get back onto Furaffinity because I've always felt I could speak my thoughts into journals and be accepted by this amazing community. It's always been a safe space and so good for my mental health in the past.
Commissions are open! ~ And if you happen to be in the Quebec area for conventions and find me, hit me up! (❁´◡`❁)
