4 and one hundred later (G)
So I just noticed I just missed the four year anniversary of making this account, as well as breaking the 100 submissions stat I set myself. Time creeps up on you, but it's as nice a time as any to catch up.
When I started this, it felt like going uphill, all the time. Starting from scratch and doing something new I've wanted to do but hadn't. Turns out drawing is pretty hard, so I decided I'd push for a hundred submissions, before I'd make up my mind if I ought to keep playing at being an artist.
The jury's still out. Sometimes, I've felt like giving up and binning the lot. At this point, though, it'd be too much effort even if I really wanted to throw in the towel. I think I've gone over the crest of the hill, where stopping something is more difficult than it was to get going. It's self substaining, you keep at it because it's become part of the things you just do. It's pretty exciting. I didn't think I'd encounter that feeling again, when something that was difficult and heavy to keep going just starts to tumble along. Suppose that's the point of this. Trying your hand at something, just to see where it takes you. I'd recommend it, even if you don't exactly discover a fountain of talent inside you. Sooner or later, it'll just start rolling on its own.
So that can be the new resolution. Four more years! 200 submissions! Whatever happens first!
