It's been a year since I decided I wanted to go back to college. I was going to a community college without much ambition or direction, I just said I was going for computer science or something. When I was registering for classes, the advisor noticed how I wasn't that enthusiastic about anything in particular. Somehow she ended up suggesting art classes and she said it would be good to try a few just to see if I was interested in them. I guess I was because I decided to try applying to an art school I had heard about back in high school. I put a bunch of my furry shit in the portfolio because that's all I make and I believe that stuff is my best work, I also didn't have any confidence I'd get accepted so I figured it didn't really matter.
I did get accepted though, and I've spent the past few months living in Cleveland. I had to take another writing class and it was the most difficult one yet since it was primarily about narratives and stories. It was much easier when I was just looking through sources and aggregating the information. This time however, I had to come up with everything myself. I guess I'm writing this post because I want to keep some kind of diary of my life and I want people to read it, but FA is kinda disconnected from most of the mainstream internet, so it still feels a bit private.
Right now, I'm just trying to do what I wished I had done when I was 18, before I become too old and sad. I've gone to a few furry conventions, and I recently met most of my best friends IRL. I've kinda incorporated furry stuff into a few of my school assignments, and people thought it was cool. One girl told me I had a recognizable style, even when the assignments were more graphic design oriented and didn't really involve drawing. There's a few people there around the same age as me or older, but I still feel very out of place. I still feel anxious about being seen as a freak.
