For All The Dead
No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
John Donne, Devotions upon Emergent Occasions -1624
I have had this account for twelve years now and in that time I have never posted anything. I won't shy away from the truth or put sugar on this: This account is for favoriting smutty works I'd rather not have linked to my more mainstream internet handles. But still somehow in that time I've racked up almost 200 views on this page and even a follower (hey there @Moddish). It's a bit ironic I guess because this account was literally designed to specifically avoid having contact with people and still, after twelve years, I can't help but feel a bit of a human connection to some of the people I've watched for years. This account isn't old enough to be a teenager yet but it's been around long enough to see huge changes in so many people's lives (I read your journal updates! And sometimes I stalk your twitters!) I've seen so many people move locations, get jobs, lose jobs, get significant others, lose significant others, have children... and unfortunately far too often die.
Why are so many people that I've followed dead? I know some of the people I follow are young and I don't know how old others are or were, but if the ages of the people I do know are representative of the whole then the sheer number of you who are chronically ill or dead is staggering. Is there something about the community of "people who draw latex fetish art" that is predisposed to deep medical and psychological issues? If so that's just really sad. You guys should take better care of yourselves, and not just to keep the fap pics flowing, but because you are human beings too. I have this inkling that there is something really sick going on here and some tide of neglect or indifference has done this to you. If I'm partially responsible for being part of the uncaring tide of faceless followers who seem to want nothing but to squeeze one more good orgasm out of you, I apologize... in ways and on levels that I can't really more deeply articulate. That's not meant as an offering of restitution. I know that apologies alone aren't constructive but this post isn't really about being constructive. I'm not trying to get something done or trying to encourage anyone to do anything, except maybe take care of yourself (there are always people out there beyond this realm who care about you and no matter how many bridges you feel you've burned you can always build new ones). I just wanted to take a moment to remember those who have come and gone. If a ghost of one of them should read this just know that... I remember you. Might not be worth much but even if you lived on nowhere else you lived on here, in some tiny way, inside my heart... and often in my pants. Let's not lose sight of what we're here for.
So maybe once in a long while spend a few minutes to pause and reflect. Zip up your pants and remember that a real person was behind what you like looking at, and think a good thing about that person perhaps.
