What is Ikecra?

Ikecra, also known as the Final Canvas, is a Renaissance fantasy world inhabited by avians known as the Ix. The planet of Ikecra itself is relatively earthlike, though features notable differences such as longer days and years, severe monsoons known as Black Rains, and a variety of alien fauna, flora, materials, and more.

What are Ix?

Ix are a race of avian humanoids that are the primary inhabitants of Ikecra. There are over half a dozen species of Ix scattered across the planet, and though they vary greatly in appearance and culture, all Ix exhibit basic avian features such as beaks, feathers, and talons. Ix share a variety of different cultures, and all Ix speak a language called Ixaga.

What is Ixaga?

Ixaga is the language of the Ix, of which all Ix speak. Ixaga contains a complete set of characters, sounds, and grammar rules, and can feasibly be written with or translated.

Are Ix a closed species?

No, Ix are not a closed species. However, please see the Terms of Use section below for info on all derivative work, including fan-made characters.

Terms of Use (Fan Content & Crediting)

While Ikecra is a protected work and the redistribution of official Ikecra content in any form is not allowed, fan creations/content (aka, "derivative works") are very much encouraged. This includes fan art, fiction, characters, or other creations, and is welcomed given that it meets the following criteria:

Not for profit: Please refrain from using Ikecra for commercial purposes. This includes (but is not limited to): selling derivative work (art, prints, fiction, merchandise, digital content, characters, bases, etc.); using derivative work as advertisement or branding (commission advertisements, commission examples, etc.); or offering derivative work in exchange for tips or subscriptions (on sites such as Patreon, Ko-fi, etc.).

Attribution: Please credit Ikecra when creating fan content. This is what allows the community of Ikecra to grow! This includes written attribution (e.g., "This is an unofficial fan creation of Ikecra, the Final Canvas") and linking to official Ikecra sites or pages when possible. Please clearly identify the derivative work as fan-created/unofficial to avoid confusion with official content. Please do not use the Ikecra logo for derivative work.

Derivative work may be posted on sharing/media sites (e.g., Twitter, FurAffinity, etc.) freely given that it meets the above criteria. If you are unsure what may or may not qualify as derivative work or are unsure about any rulings, please do not hesitate to ask. Can I commission someone else for art of derivative Ikecra works?

Yes, but the resulting work must be derivative and abide by the above rules for both the artist and commissioner. Any payment exchanged for the commission itself is okay, though please refrain from any for-profit use of the work beyond the initial exchange.

Look-alikes and infringement

If you think someone's creations or content resembles Ikecra closely, please treat them with respect. Intellectual property misuse is frequently a blurry line. If you are concerned something is violating the Terms of Use, contact official Ikecra channels directly. Please do not harass or attack someone on behalf of Ikecra for perceived infringements.
