The Symbyots are a race that look much like humans do, with a small key difference, a pair is one person. Their society is based around a pair of one male and one female, always cousins, that act as a single person. The male is almost always right handed, while the female is almost always left handed, Symbyots that differ from this are generally outcasts, or made fun of.

One of the reasons behind this pairing is that each single body has only about 51% of the brain working, the males have the left side of their brain working, which is why they are right handed while the Females are the opposite, having only their right brains working. Because of this the males are calculating and hands on, but whatever they think up has already been done, and is generally something that they have seen before, which in turn means that the females can't count to save a life, however what they lack in common sense they make up for in imagination as they are always thinking up new and exciting things to do that the males only WISH they could have come up with first.

The second reason they are always together is that they are raised from birth together, always sharing similar names such as Alex and Alexia. Despite having separate bodies often just one being called will get them both running, this is due to the fact that they form a shared mind after the second year of their lives, and as such if one should die the other will shut down literally killing itself out of despair without causing a 'huge' scene.

For mating the individual 'bodies' that make up each pair will become attracted to the opposing gender of another pair unless they were born bisexual or homosexual, in which case they may share or go for the same gender, but in either case they will always be attracted to another pair and never two from two different pairings.
