Update, 09/14/2025: I have started using the LambdaMOO spivik pronoun (e/em/eir/emself) to refer to myself in text. I do not mind other pronouns in use, but appreciate the effort when it is used in a non-real-time context. Otherwise, I still view pronouns as performance feedback, feel free to use the ones that you feel I am embodying when we are interacting.

Irick is my name here, and on IRC. If you guys swing by on furnet I'm pretty much always there courtesy of a ZNC instance somewhere thousands of miles away from me. There is not too much I feel needs to be said about me that you won't find out through meeting with me or reading through my journals. I'm an advocate of open culture, consumer rights and essential liberties. I am a huge geek, and I will nerd out to a variety of topics. I'm also a hacker, in the true spirit of the word: I am infinitely curious about the world around me and make efforts to be playfully clever with the knowledge I gain.
So feel free to drop by sometime and discuss philosophy, technology, science, literature, martial arts, or whatever comes to mind.

Regarding fanart (holy crap, i have fans? O_O)
Irick is an extremely personal creation born of the culture of the US from the early 90s on to the present and as such e should be treated as all products of the mind: openly shared and reinterpreted. There really is no need to ask my permission to create/commish art of Irick as long as you attribute me and give me a poke with the final product so that i may beam at it and proudly pat my spawn of the mind on his metaphoric back.

Sorry man, I cried all day. I can't really see how you'd expect me not to, but I think it was compassionate that you asked.
You decided to check out and that's your right. I can't imagine what it is like living with chronic pain and without even the tacit the support of your family. They did not deserve you. We disagreed often; you felt that I let myself get too worked up about the state of the world. But you listened when Juniper died, and you spent the time to check in.
I appreciated you. We disagreed civilly. We always oriented toward compassion toward one another. I loved sharing passions with you. You were often the only person to reach out to me when I was in depressive slumps with a meme or occasionally something horny. I appreciated both, even if I sometimes had to be careful about the context I'd check them in.
It's so hard to enumerate six years of friendship. There was a fair share of drama. We played a lot of games. You practically carried me in my ill-conceived attempt at FF 14. We watched Neos die. We both escaped Florida.
You were a constant. You were my friend. I hope you are at peace, you fucking gremlin.
I'm going to miss you, but you already knew that.
