Hello fellow furs! Well, I guess this is where I'm introducing myself, finally...

As a furry: I'm a raccoon (biped/anthro), grey with black markings, curious but skittish (the latter rarely showing through in person), and always looking for a snack (much more obvious aspect of my fursona and rl self). As a "hooman": I'm a 35 year old ( *breaks out his walker* ) straight male (yes, we exist in the fandom), who has played online as a furry for at least 5 years, but probably quite a bit longer.

I honestly don't remember a particular moment when I "became" a furry or "realized" I was one. I think it was actually a kind of gradual exposure to the fandom. Early on, I had no idea people dressed up as their characters, or even met offline. I think I just saw it as sort of a particular genre of roleplay (or more to the point, "cyber" as mundanes call online yiff).
Fast forward to October 2010, and I'm attending my first furry convention (Oklacon 8), wearing my first ears (actually, a mass-produced raccoon-character hat. The morning after I arrive, I picked up my first (and so far only) commissioned fursuit/accessory pieces. They are raccoon ears and tail, purchased in advance from Simply Madd ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/simplymadd/ ).

As for my mundane self...actually, not so 'mundane', but very 'eclectic'? Or maybe that's AD...(oooh, shiny...)

Hmm, what? Oh yeah, mundane self... Let's see...I'm a big Star Wars fan, I like anime (really? a furry who likes anime??), I like most music, but mainly rock (classic, modern, 80's...), and I'm a semi-casual gamer (PC and Xbox 360). I LOVE computers, 'gadgets', and just technology in general (usually), I work retail (ugh), and I'm politically libertarian. You'll notice I didn't say "A" libertarian, nor did I use a capital "L". Suffice it to say I'm not talking about the Party.

Anyway, I'll expand on that in my next post, as well as why I'm going to be talking about things both furry AND mundane in my journals here.
