So, Every state has a few stories...
One I heard a few times from my Dad, who lived just outside the D.C. Metro area, was about right here in Utah, When the Utah Department of Transportation declared war on Pleasant Grove.
The gist of it was an Avalanche Control Team, using a 105mm Howitzer, had been doing the job embroidered on their work shirts, and one team member, we'll call him Sparky, for whatever reason took all the bits of propellant charge they had been cutting off and put them in the base of the last round.
For those not in the know, this is generally what a Bad Idea(Tm) looks like.
So, Sparky helps load Final Round, aim is taken, and they miss the mountain, having lofted the round high enough and at just the right angle to, well...
