I don't do much online chatting since I always seem to be busy, so I am not on many social networks. I've mainly just been doing the Facebook thing to keep touch with family and friends, and a little bit of Telegram. If you are using FA to learn about what I'm like IRL, you've really come to the wrong place unless you're just here to get your kink-shaming jollies.

With that being said, this is a relatively accurate description of me:

I try to avoid drama and prefer a relaxed atmosphere. I grew up in a small town, spent 6 years in the Navy, and had a few nice jobs that taught me lots of useful skills. I would have to say that I am an electronic hobbyist and computer geek, drawn to the retro arcade and pinball nostalgia from the 1980s. I like to fix and build things, such as with a 3D-printer or the occasional custom house remodeling work. My resume of skills is long, from correctly threading a sewing machine bobbin to operating a jackhammer. I have trouble hearing conversations when there's lots of background noise, so I don't like big crowds, but if you get me talking individually about a passion I can run on for a bit. (I had so much fun explaining how nuclear power worked to Vanilla Ice's manager that we missed dessert.)

I was born and lived most of my life in the USA, but my spouse initiated our move to Portugal after many years of watching my home country changing from its ideals. Unfortunately, during this move we've been screwed over time and time again so I was in a very bad place for probably too long. Now I don't know if any of this will eventually work out, but I have very little control anyway so the only thing I can do is to just go along with it.

Update September 2024
House renovations finished many months ago, car legalized (took a year) but I'm still afraid to drive in new areas since my mid-size car is just huge compared to the roads made for Pintos. Multi-lane roundabouts are still questionable, so I'm just doing what everyone else does.
I still have bouts of depression and isolation, but I visit family 3-4 times a year which helps with that. It is really expensive but my family seems to be falling apart and I'm not there to help out.
Hubby wants to get me into VR Chat, so that will probably happen soon. The headset seems to give me a headache after a while though, but I can just take some aspirin beforehand.
