2020.... A disaster in review
Okay, so first off, I will preface this journal by saying that this year did suck a lot, but despite that I did come out of it moderately unscathed. Especially compared to a lot of other people who faced job loss, hour reductions, and the devastating effects this year had on a lot of peoples mental health. I have even noticed that I am struggling a little bit mentally to stay on track.
There is still a long ways to go, but I think that the recent announcements about new vaccines starting to filter into the general population have started to give everyone some hope that things will start turning around in 2021. Unfortunately my previous journal which held so much optimism for life getting back to normal prior to the end of this year might have been been wishful thinking. But looking towards the new year I am optimistic. I do think it is going to take a little time for sure but I think by the fall we will be starting to see things start to get back to normal. That said, as much as it pains me to say, I don't think we will be seeing any furry cons until the fall, if not then possibly into the winter.
So really there isn't a lot to report. The only traveling I did this year was to a wedding in British Columbia for a couple of days. Aside from that it's been pretty quiet. Oddly, despite the state of the economy, the company I work for has been insanely busy. Christmas and New Years is the closest thing I have had to a break in months. So this has had the unexpected effect of leaving me with a large quantity of banked hours that need to be used up. I was able to burn some of them up for Christmas and New Years, and I am thinking that when things hopefully calm down a little in the coming months I can head out to Ontario and Quebec for a week or so to visit a few of my fuzzy friends out in those parts I haven't seen in a while.
That aside, there really isn't much else to report. Training delays, flight school closures, in addition to being swamped with work and stressed as kinda put the brakes on my PPL for the time being... But the rumor is if things improve I may be up in the air by March. And I guess that is really about it of any significant importance.
Stay safe, and be good to each other.
