After watching Kpop Demon Hunters, got inspired by it, the game, No Straight Roads, mermaid myths and legends, the marine life itself, marine themed movies like Aquaman, The Little Mermaid, Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken, and drawing sea creatures made me think of making a Trolls Mermaid magical girl au, starring the girl group, which Queen Poppy, Queen Barb, and Carol formed.

I kinda imagine that the main merfolk specie (the tritons), which the trolls as merfolk are. The tritons were one of the seven powerful beings who were the noble protectors of the oceans as selected by the mysterious Poseidon. Aside from their aquatic physiology, a long lifespan of 300 years, and their abilities, which vary, based on the species of marine animals (either fish or cetacean, which are common, cephalopod for cecaelia, pinnipeds for selkies, etc.), the tritons possess magical powers, especially magic gifts and they have the knowledge of potionmaking and spells. When chosen to protect both the land and sea, they were granted the ability to change forms to accommodate for living on both in order to fight the forces of evil that threatened both worlds, a mission that was started by the first group of merms who surfaced from the ocean in Ancient Egypt. Armed with their instruments that can transform into magic weapons, which they receive from their hatchdays (or birthdays if live birth), magic powers, music proficiency, and voices that are strong enough to purify and destroy evil, as they sing songs that inspire courage and hope that unites the soul and bring people together.

Every generation, a new group of triton merms rise above the waves to continue what the first group started while fighting alongside the other six sworn protectors like the krakens, the gillmen, the finfolk, the sea warriors, the oceanids, and the nereids against various threats like dark magic users, Nerissa and her evil mermaid-like muliceto, and the mermonstrous sirens, whom the tritons hated for being cannibalistic ferality. The current chosen group is a girl group, which is composed of my trollsona, Rose, Poppy, Barb, Carol, and their bandmates (I couldn't find out who else is in the girl group) and they surfaced to carry out the mission that their predecessors continued (with Rose's grandma, Celestia being one of them). Together, they are a girl pop-rock band by day and warriors/protectors by night while fighting the forces of evil that threatened both the land and sea.

My trollsona, Rosetta a.k.a Rose is a veiltail betta mermaid with the magical gift related to sound and music, while Poppy is a strawberry peacock cichlid with color and light magic powers, and Barb is a great white shark mermaid with electrokinesis.
